Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

Maybe Elon is anti-roundabout? We have a few roundabouts in my area and those make traffic flow so much better... no waiting at lights etc... but pedestrians and bikers sometimes mess it up because they are supposed to cross earlier but use the roundabout instead. On one of our cars, it has...

    Tesla for teenager?

My concern was safety and driver aids, and while the M3 does have safety it does have some shortcoming when it comes to driver aids. I got our kid a Leaf.. it has BSM, cross traffic detection and the 360 overhead cam. They like the driver display and the physical controls but still get the...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

I think you have to drive one to see what use cases you may have. I was the same way before I got the Ioniq... just wanted a way to set it to 1-pedal or REGEN-0-3 for the duration of the trip. But I found that having the option to change it while driving instead of having to get into the...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

One pedal driving is the best way to drive (it is like manual as you can use regen on turns just like you would when you downshift) but I also like having the option to vary my regen. I guess because I was an old school stick driver.

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

So like I thought, no Regen 0 setting. :)

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

No one is trying to maintain any status quo... if you look at the posts, everyone is questioning our preferences... not the other way around. Ironically, the only status quo trying to be maintained here is the Tesla one. Not everyone is suited for a Tesla so I'm just providing a different point...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

I am familiar with the SEXY buttons but did not know it can change REGEN that was not available in the regular settings. Creep mode didn't really coast that fast from what I remember.
  8. BigNerd

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Really? What setting is that? I don't recall any real REGEN-0 coasting setting on our Y.
  9. BigNerd

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

But why would you want to do that? (based on what everyone else is saying :) ) Last I checked, it's not one of the available shortcuts you can assign to the left button. And as I said, there is no REGEN-0 setting in the Y either.

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Funny... all you people praising Tesla's implementation of one-pedal driving but are not taking into account drivers who also drive the car and have not adjusted to one pedal driving because it's not their regular car. In my household we tend to share the different cars we have and Tesla does...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

The app is fine... you can control climate, locks, and even have remote surround view on the Limited trim. Tesla's is probably better but it's the same as most car apps out there now. One thing I liked was the doors unlocked notification. Because the I5 does NOT have a walk-away lock (which...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

@phigment Again, not arguing that paddles are better or whatever... just providing another point of view. And yes, I understand the dynamics of one pedal driving... it's the other people who drove the Y who had issues with it, even in low-regen mode (because the Y does NOT have a 0-regen mode)...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

The EV watching comment wasn't a problem, just something to do while waiting. And everybody being able to charge at Tesla SCs is a great thing for EVs overall. I like the paddle shifters because some of my passengers get motion sickness by the abruptness of the Tesla regen... even if they are...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Seating space is bigger because the I5's center console doesn't extend the full length and the seats are more upright. Even the back seat seems bigger and that's probably due to the wheelbase pushing the wheels to the outer corners. The rear seats also slide back and forth (but not sure even at...

About a month in and I'm happy with the Ioniq 5. I miss PAAK and walk away lock... I thought I would miss auto-on but I actually like being able to get in to the car without everything turning on. I prefer having the driver display, especially the auto-drive visualization being in front of me...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

I think all cars have their issues and the 22/23 models will probably be more prone just like the early Tesla models. I only lease my cars so I'm not worried about long term reliability as I think there will be something better in 2-5 years... that being said... my Model Y was basically...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Going on week 4 of my Ioniq 5. Still wish I had the 360 camera (only available on the Limited trim, I have the SEL) but having BSM and cross-traffic alerts again is nice. It doesn't default to one pedal driving (i-Pedal is what Hyundai calls is) but it's one click away (much like my Leaf) and...

Refused delivery’s due to windshield damage

OP made the right move... especially with how quick Tesla is churning out Model 3s, unless you have a really custom build, they should be able to get you a new one faster than ordering a new windshield (which it looks like they did). I'm just confused this is in the Model S forum... $55k S is...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

There is several threads about this in the Ioniq forums and this is an issue compared to how Tesla handles regen braking and the brake light (the brake lights come on during some type of slowdown in a Tesla but I'm not sure if there is a threshold but you can see they do light in the...

Yep... this is the reason why Apple iPhones have the best 3rd party support.... they don't change form factors/styles for a few years and so many people have them it's created this huge after market. That's probably my 1st world problem too. When I first got my Y, it was new and not many people had them... 2 years later... every other car is a white Y, especially where I live... it's outnumbering the Japanese brands that used to dominate but at least those all had different colors and...

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

This is a great question and something I've been picky about for a while with EVs. So I did the unthinkable (at least in this forum), I turned in my 2021 Standard RWD Y (early lease termination) and leased a mid trim Ioniq 5 (RWD SEL Extended range). I was concerned about this too as I just termed my lease early. But there was no lease inspection as I guess they just relied on the photos I took (I didn't realize how hard it was to find a penny in my house). I did have a curb rash that I had fixed but based on the early term quote, I had...

Exactly. This is a problem with most software engineering is not enough practical use testing... but even worse when applying to "moving vehicle scenario". And that's why I say that voice commands can't solve everything.

I think Telsa will get there. They have already shown the ability to put stuff in user designated spots (the left/right signal video for one). I would put an HVAC card at the bottom of the visualization area where the current media card is... by user's choice of course.

Actually... the Mach E doesn't have many buttons. I had thought they did but are pretty minimalist on HVAC and Entertainment controls. My friend told me that there was an OTA update that made the HVAC/Ent screen controls more intuitive so Tesla isn't the only one with UI/UX issues. Sizewise...

I think we all get this... with necessity actually being cost reduction. But sometimes, UI/UX design doesn't reflect real world usage. @gt2690b See... this person gets the meme. The difference between your towing/gas mileage example is everyone here understands that so hardly anyone says "Why is my mpg bad when I tow?". But there are often answers here when someone comments on the UI/UX in the vein of "Just use the voice...

Memes are also meant to be funny and hyperbole. Missing the point... again... not saying which car is better... just what features from certain cars are preferred by certain people. Obv everyone would want a Supercharger network... but in my 2+ years of ownership... I've only used one twice... and I only have Level 1 charging at home. And...

For some reason, I thought the MME has more physical controls so I was surprised to see it was really just that big dial. If you have a strong finger and no/short nails. I'm sure there are others who can't do that. I agree with you @Rocket_man ... what I was trying to say is that I shouldn't have to explain how to open my car door. Never had to do that with any other vehicle I owned.
