Yes, VINs have popped up at various times for Model S and Model X refresh orders according to people who have watched their accounts very closely.

California is a two-party consent state so be careful when recording a Tesla phone call coming from CA. Notify them you are recording otherwise it's illegal to do so. Taking contemporaneous notes is a different story.

Reservation numbers are sequential and include all Tesla models. Many people only show the first several digits on this Forum. Tesla sold around 26,000 Model X vehicles in 2020 so we can assume there are a lot of refresh models currently on order after 11 months of delayed production.

I just stopped into the Tesla sales center in SoCal. No additional info or VIN found in their system but they guessed December delivery. My EDD still shows TBD. They confirmed anything built in November will be tagged as 2022 for registration purposes.

The same pattern happened with the Model S deliveries. They were updated to ‘February’ and then deliveries began to those same people very shortly thereafter. January is probably an entry placeholder EDD. Meanwhile I’m still blank so no better off than Jan folks.

In this case the incentive to switch to six seats is the increased likelihood of getting the X sooner. Some have also been able to swap color schemes when switching to six seats that otherwise would have reset their price and place in line.

If Tesla added an incentive to switch to 5/7 buyers, they would have to offer the same price decrease to original 6-seat buyers.

My guess is they will announce the roll-out for X on next Wednesday's earnings call, then six-seat EDDs will begin populating Thursday.

Tesla changed to a model year, not a manufactured year, two years ago. My dealership believes that will remain the case, and cars built in November and later will be sold as 2022 models for registration.

Don't cancel your order, just don't take delivery if it comes to that. Who knows, if the price goes up again before delivery you may want to take possession and sell it. You're out the deposit anyway.
