I have to be the one who asks...was there any aspect of your profile that was not completed until more recently or did you change anything at all about your order in that time? The wait starts once completed not when the order was placed and any changes could put you in the back of the line.

I think that since one of them told you they would need to pull a permit that is probably how it is 'supposed' to be done and the other one is choosing to not go through the hassle. It is true that it is hard to tell sometimes when its completed. I remember reading about some folks who thought they were all set and then ended up talking to their SA and finding out due to some unclear issue they were not showing "complete". I am not 100% but I don't think the payment method...

My EDD was missing yesterday and this morning. It just reappeared in the last half hour or so. It says 8/16-9/5 which is a day later than the last date I had. But the EDD is back!

I am in the non-existent EDD camp this morning.

I was at 8/14-9/3 yesterday and moved to 8/15-9/4 this morning. I have been going back and forth between those dates the last couple days!

I slid back a day to 8/9-8/29. But I agree. with ajs847 and it will probably level out again. I think they just randomly assign one of us a an early August date, one of us a late august/early September date, and then the rest in the middle and just rotate them around. Just to cover their bases lol.
