    Customer Service Rant - (Sorry...)

I'm sorry you're having this experience. I've owned 3 Teslas since 2014, and service used to be top notch, until the M3 came along. Since then it's been absolutely abysmal. Offensively bad. I would not buy another Tesla again now, just due to service and QC issues, until they get their act...

    Anyone got HW3 retrofit yet?

I was scheduled to get it done today, but apparently turnaround is more than 24 hours. I wouldn't be able to bring their Enterprise loaner back tomorrow during opening hours, so i had to reschedule for July 28th Would have been nice to find out all of this with a 20-second phone call, but we...

    Autopilot Safety/Convenience Features Unavailable

I'm here looking for an answer to the same problem. If it's jsut a loose radar wire, you can get to that area by popping off the plastic cover. I'll try it myself (out of warranty) and report if I find anything

    So sick of "Service".

I'm snickering inside - not at your misfortune, but at how right you are. I've owned 3 Teslas since 2014 and everything was great until the M3 scale happened. I wouldn't buy another one now, until they get their act together on service issues like this. I'll truncate the bitching, examples of...

Bizarre new screen display bugs while charging

At least you're getting the charging display. Over half the time my popup window is blank, until I reset. Can't change charging times or limit. Then after resetting it works 1-2 times and I reset it again....

    Ensenada, Mexico | Supercharger?

I just charged there on Friday the 5th. Peaked at 108kw It’s behind a guarded gate, you don’t need to be a guest of the hotel. Set your suspension on very high for the driveway leading up to the second level of the garage

Is there a better family car?

It depends. We've been driving Phoenix to SoCal via Tesla since 2014, but recently got a gas car because it's getting impossible to charge anywhere. I mean, not impossible but super inconvenient, especially in CA. Sitting in line for a charging slot, then getting a 34 kw paired charge rate for 2...

I actually like my Model 3 better than a model Model S

We have an S and an X, and I was planning on selling the S for a 3... but just can’t get beyond the looks. My wife and I both think the 3 is ugly. Even the X looks better, and that’s ugly next to the S. White seems to hide the lines a little better, but they’re still so stubby and squat ‍♂️

    Supercharger - Baker, CA (LIVE / EXPANDED 40 V2 + 20 V3 stalls)

I would think Tesla plans on battery swapping for their semis, rather than charging them per se? Their swap tech for cars was automated and great, but impractical/inconvenient for car drivers, especially after the battery guard retrofit in 2014.... Would make perfect sense to swap semi batteries...
  12. mgdurand

Semi and Supercharger V3... a match made in heaven.

I would think Tesla plans on battery-swapping for their semis, not charging them per se?

So SilkySmooth never happened now waithing on SomethingSpecial

FWIW my AP2 works great on my commute, even in the construction crossover lanes. I'm guessing that Teslas parting with their former head of AI and hiring of Karpathy has something to do with delays in development. I know how hard it can be to find and keep just regular, but good software...

    2014 P85 140,000 miles

The low-balls are a bit absurd... I think the way to figure it is, if you have around 40K to spend, and you want an S, you see what's available and it might be one with a bunch of miles. So then you figure what it means to have a bunch of miles on a Tesla, and it doesn't mean much since the...

    2014 P85 140,000 miles

I still haven't sold the car, but I will post the results here because it is an interesting question.... Someone mentioned I would make more by parting it out, yes, a quick check on eBay shows that I probably would :-/ Another option could be driving it to 1,000,000 miles and hoping Tesla buys...

    2014 P85 140,000 miles

2014 P85, owned since new. We have another MS and an X in the family, so we must sell our first Tesla. The miles have been put on mostly from Phoenix - LA - San Diego runs, we go back and forth every other weekend. Also my old work commute via Flagstaff. There are some minor body dings here...

    17.24.28 released

Tesla will probably be more appealing to people with the early adopter mentality, for a long time just because they move so quickly. I have 17.24.28 on a Model X p100d and just returned from a 1600 mile road trip with it. Got the update on Friday, right before leaving. I will say that it seems...

    GPS problem with Model X

Mine is working again, I called tesla service and they said they would pull my logs and look into it. Tunnels For Mars

Absolutely, there's a lot of thinking on subterranean habitats on Mars as being safe, energy efficient and economical. 8.1 seems imminent...

    Acceleration Shudder

I was told by the lead at the Tempe SC, that the problem was different lengths of the half shafts created a harmonic which is in phase at only one coincidental rotation of the two half shafts. 100K Club? Anyone?

Switching bluetooth is a pain. I don't know of any way to put actual Audible content on a USB stick and h ave it play unless you were to find a pirate converter out there someplace. That's not a hint, I really haven't searched for one :-) It would be nice if the S had a 2.5mm input. You could...

    100K Club? Anyone?

To answer a few questions, I've been pretty happy with the reliability and problem free-ness of my Model S over the past two years, though I did buy it with a total "early adopter" mentality. That is, I expected a lot more problems than I've had, so from that relative perspective I'm pretty...

    100K Club? Anyone?

Anyone else here reached 100,000 miles yet? I've heard of a few others around, here and there. We just turned over a couple weeks ago. The car is a March 2014-delivered P85, we drive between PHX and LA a lot. Listen to a loooooot of audiobooks. The car basically took the place of our small...

Universal Charger Cable Getting Chewed Up By Animals!

Lol, I use habanero, water and egg white, garlic, food processor, strained in a cloth. Then sprayed on anything I want to have a NO message for animals. The egg white makes it stick, the garlic makes a scent association.. I use it on my seedlings. Don't handle the cable and then your self.

    Stock Wheels vs Rial Luganos

I have over 50,000 miles on my Rial's, and no problems. I bought them when my stock Cyclone bent, but that pothole would have bent anything. Yes, Tesla refuses to service anything about them, but they haven't needed anything. I bought them over the TST's because I think the color and shape...

Are winter tires needed with the "D"??

Yes; traction is where it's at. I used to drive a Jetta with gnarly winter tires (Winterforce, I think) and it would run rings around my AWD Legacy with street tires in the snow. I also loved to gloat about how my 2wd car wouldn't get stuck where the street-ready SUV's did. I'd pass by one in...

    100% drive unit failure rate??

Trip Planner in V7 - Any Improvements?

The only times I've ever had range anxiety in my car, were when I obeyed the "You now have enough energy to continue on your trip" message, and arrived at less than zero! That's two times, and no I'm not exaggerating for effect :-D I still use the nav, I just plan from supercharger to...

    100% drive unit failure rate??

It would be nice if Tesla were to issue an official statement on the matter, including the actual known mechanism for this noise. They have to have it pretty well pinned down by now! If it's indeed an electronic component which doesn't fail in the functional sense, then it would be good for...

    100% drive unit failure rate??

FWIW I put 40,000 miles on a noisy drive unit and had no problems other than the noise itself. It did get a bit louder during that time, but not by too many estimated decibels ;) The first one was replaced at 22K, then the second one started making noise by 30K. My third unit is a "P" so if...

Autopilot fatigue reduction on long drives - initial reports?

Tesla has replace my flying (Mooney M20C) since March 2014, but I've kept the plane because I have property on one of the San Juan islands. 15 minutes ground to ground is much nicer than up to 10 hours by ferry, in the summertime. I don't have autopilot hardware, so I just tie a stick onto the...

Trip Planner in V7 - Any Improvements?

Funny, yesterday (for me too) for the first time that very same error did NOT happen - on the way up the hill East of Kingman on I-40? It did, however, recalculate and mis-estimate the distance remaining while 30-60 miles west of Needles. There's still that "Ugh" feeling of seeing your...

Tesloop - The first sustainable transport network

I think the main issue is that without free electricity supplied by Tesla, the trip cost would increase by over $50. The driver would then make $8.75 an hour, hauling two passengers. I mean as a TSLA stockholder those trips only cut into my ownership by 0.0000001 of a penny or so, but still...

    Supercharger - Fountain Valley (LIVE 28 Aug 2015, Expanded 27 Oct 2017, 16 stalls)

I really gotta wonder. We've been by FV a few times recently as we do a lot of AZ to CA travel. Every time, this place is packed by locals? Things you may not have discovered about your Model S?!

Re Hill hold, I had always assumed that instead of the brake pads being squeezed, that the motor was being electronically "frozen," with the right amount of current to just remain stationary. I can do this on the accelerator with my foot and replicate the same feel as the hill hold though not...

Thanks! Glad I had the time to browse this board, we were going to go through tomorrow. We'll take I-10 instead. I hope Tesla can implement real-time warnings about stuff like this on your nav screen, it's not like you can just go kitty-corner to the Shell station if the pumps are out at Chevron.

Is anyone interested in Tesla NOT because of any environmental reasons?

I used to be an environmentalist, but then I realized that human beings were just a very small, localized chemical reaction which arose to reduce the energy state of H-C bonds in a microscopic fractal sub-system of baryonic matter.
