    Mate, the order fee and delivery fee are still sales and delivery costs to Tesla that they have to recuperate as cost of selling you the ACTUAL car.     Tesla only very recently changed to assigning based on when you ordered. They used to assign VINs based on when you completed all the steps in your Tesla Account. My SA confirmed all this. That's probably why we see random assigning of VINs at the moment..

    The SA's know that demand is very high so they push people to order because the cut-off date is unknown to the SA's and could come at any time. View it this way, they don't want you miss out and have to wait 5 months

    My SA mentioned that the next round of VIN assignment was occurring "around the 7th" Maybe we're just seeing cancellations come through and you were next in queue?

    You just outlined why Tesla NSW doesn't offer custom plates... Because they do so many deliveries in a short space of time that can't possibly accommodate for every special request, especially when it involves having a staff member stand in line at the RMS for god knows how long.     They're definitely built in separate queues. Doesn't make sense to build all 3 variants at the same time. Tesla have confirmed the remainder of Q1 VINs will be allocated in the next 2 weeks (after they're built).
