    Front Valence popped out

My front valance was somehow ripped off the bumper cover, I assume from a parking block. My question - to reattach it, is there a way to take it off and then slide it in and re-secure it, or do I need to take the entire bumper cover off first, attach the valance, and then re-attach the combined...

    Thump sound when turning

When you make a request to the service center via app, don't give any specifics, just say that you want someone to go on a test drive with you when you get there. Otherwise you will get some nonsense diagnostic you don't need.

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

I have the exact same symptoms and the SC scheduled me for a replacement of just the FR Spring Module. I already had an alignment done and changed all tires and still had the issue. I'm not getting a lot of information from my SC, so I'm nervous that I'm going to pay a lot for the wrong repair...

Need help communicating with Service Center

I've been having an issue with my 2016 S 90D for about 5 months now. Most noticeable at highway speeds, the car kind of feels like it gets blown around, especially when I a drive over a crack or other imperfection in the road. The closest description I can find is tramlining or wandering. The...

    Window rolls up after lowering

I have the opposite issue with the passenger window - if I open it, it won't close unless I also open the door. Looks like some part of the rubber? lining is blocking it and the resistance reverses the motor. I am not sure the same thing could happen in the other direction, but if you haven't...

    Bike Rack for Plaid

I had 2 bikes mounted on roof racks and in addition to the big efficiency loss, while mounting, one of the bikes (non e-bike) tipped to the side, the pedal hit my roof glass and cracked it. So I switched to hitch mounted. Later, I was rear-ended while my hitch-mounted rack was on and it...

Is it safe to drive with Michelin Pilot sport 4s during winter?

I run Michelin X Ice on my 90D all winter that I got through my local tire shop. You can also get them from TireRack. Safety depends on your weather conditions of course, but I personally don't have the stones to drive below freezing on sport tires.

Anyone replaced a rear parking sensor?

I installed the EcoHitch which requires that you take off the entire rear bumper to mount their hitch. Based on what I saw during the job, you will need to take off the bumper to re-mount those sensors. It's a huge pain, but I don't think you have any other option.

Bike Rack Recommendations? -- SF Bay Area -- 2020 Model S

The EcoHitch installation involves removing your bumper, torquing the EcoHitch correctly to the frame, and then carving a hole in the little chrome body panel under the car and putting it back together. Having it done by someone with the right tools and a lift is worth it. "Bike rack...

Would you drive a MS in a winter climate without snow tires?

I live in Maryland, not even in our version of mountains. I would never drive any car without snow tires in an area that gets snow. There are countless times snow tires saved my ass. But, here's an n=1 anecdote. One time, at my flat office parking lot, they didn't salt the lot and my 90D, even...

sad - because I don't understand battery performance

Here's what worked for me to deal with range anxiety: I switched to % mode. ICE cars just tell you how much is left in the tank and even the newer ones with "miles left to fillup" are constantly readjusting through the drive. There's just do much that goes into influencing efficiency. The rated...

Automatic Garage Door Opening No Longer Works

I used to be able to shut the garage door (2016) while in motion driving away. Now, unless I am 10 feet from the garage door facing it head on it won't open or close. I explained the issue to my Tesla service center and their reaction was like I didn't know how a garage door opener worked.

My car just exited warranty and I have no plans to buy extended. My only major service issue was a stuck trunk latch and the door handle just failed for the first time last month. Tesla Service quoted me $275-$475, but it looks like a $100+labor DIY job. I was surprised by the lack of loaner...

    90D Rated Range

I assume it's some combination of battery degradation and firmware logic. TeslaFi has a cool feature which records a data point every time you charge and then graphs it. Newbie question - Is it a good idea to get a Tesla in my situation?

I would spend a week or two scouting out the chargers and making sure there's regularly a spot for you. You'll need ~5 hours of charging every day, which is fine if you're parking there for work. You'll be able to skip a day, but not 2 in a row. Hopefully, you can get a charger installed at...

    WARNING: Dangerous new/changed functionality

I didn't even know about long pressing defrost. I do know that hot air holds more moisture than cold air (it's a better sponge). Who has the boasting right to #1 updated to v8.0?

A lot of things can alter the equation, but almost everything we're talking about is just a debate over which company will have the biggest piece of the <1% EV market share. For EVs to start getting into the >99% of the rest of the market, there needs to be an affordable car that can give a...

As posted in a different thread about the Bolt - comparing the Model S/X range to Bolt range is the wrong comparison. We are all team Electric, but the Bolt's 7.2kW charger vs the 120kW Supercharger means that you're going to need a quite a few Snickers bars if you take a Bolt on a road trip...

Why Does Every News Channel Blame "AutoPilot" For Every Single Crash?

They blame autopilot because it gets them visitor traffic. If it was just "car accident", no one would even click into the article. It's bait and we're eating it up. The article minus that sentence says exactly the same thing, except it wouldn't be shared and referred to (and visited)
