Thread for the most minor of suggestions

I’d like the left scroll wheel long press alternative function to be latching or “sticky”. I have it set to wiper speed and when I long press the scroll wheel to allow for the scroll wheel to adjust the wiper speed I’d like it to stay in that mode until I long press again. This way I can...

Operate Windshield Wipers When Car is "OFF"?

I don’t know of a service mode setting for this, though I don’t doubt that there might be one. A low tech solution may be to just put something heavy in the drivers seat to trick it.

Looking for insight with M3P driving characteristics

The chill mode explanation makes a lot of sense. Is it possible that you are only changing the car mode while you are in park? There is a default “easy access” profile, if this is enabled and you are changing the drive mode before you are shifting the car into drive you could be only changing...

    ALL CyberTruck discussion

The etherloop stuff they mentioned sounds a lot like EtherCat or a slight variation on it. It’s an open standard used heavily in time critical control systems for things like particle accelerators. If you google around a bit you’ll find some good videos on how it works. It or something much...

Schedule heating and charging, how to turn off

Do you happen to have an easy entry profile and a driver profile? If so it might be worth checking both, back when I used easy entry I found I was often updating settings in that instead of my profile if I just popped into the car to change a setting.

    2023 Holiday Update Imminent

I don’t believe there has been any announcements made yet but i would expect, based on the contents of the update, that if your car can run the latest release than it will be able to run this one as well.

    2023 Holiday Update Imminent

The blind spot indicator seems interesting. I’m also fairly excited by the trip planner update. Not because it’s better than ABRP but because you can now send a multi stop trips to the car. I’m hoping that api is exposed and ABRP, google, Apple, etc.. will be able to send multi stop trips as...

Every day I get a message from my Tesla 3: "Your car cabin is now at the desired temperature" How do I stop this?

In the app under Schedule check that you do not have preconditioning set to on. That will cause your car to prepare itself at that time each day and warm up the cabin as well.

Recommended non-Tesla (!) body shops in Seattle area

I went through Murray’s CarStar in DesMoines recently which is a certified shop. The work was quite good, it took several months to get in but only took a few weeks to repair. Keep in mind that unless you go through a non Tesla approved shop that is willing to do PDR even minor scrapes and...

How long did it take to receive WA plates?

Back in January they got mine to me the day after the temp tag expired. I picked up the car in Portland so I think they had to do an extra step or two for my WA registration.

    Charging a 2023 with a home ccs level 2 charger [correction - J1772]

This is probably what you are looking for : https://shop.tesla.com/product/ccs-combo-1-adapter . Though if it’s an L2 charger are you sure it’s not a J-1772 plug? Typically CCS are only for DC fast charging as they have the extra pins. If it is a J-1772 then every Tesla comes with an adapter...

    Autopilot Failed me!

I’m sorry this happened to you and glad you are ok! Sadly I don’t think you’ll have much luck with Tesla helping in this situation, they will most likely refer you to this section of the manual. Auto steer does ok on divided highways and freeways when conditions are good but outside of that it...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

You’re doing great by the car! We all have the worry and read through everything when we get one with respect to charging. The only real advice is charge to what you need with enough of a buffer to feel safe (below 90 of course unless preparing for a trip). I started 6 months ago at 80 and now...

Won't remember passwords, Netflix, hula, YouTube

Make sure you are entering the password into the same profile you want to use the service on. I had this issue when I initially put some passwords in while it was set to the “easy entry” profile and the next time I loaded Netflix i was in my own profile and it didn’t remember the password.

Can I lease in Canada and bring to the US?

I‘m not sure about if there is anything weird with how a leased car would be handled but assuming he isn’t planning on importing the car he might be fine. If he has to import it then it’ll probably be quite expensive both moving down there and then moving back and I suspect there would be a lot...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Exactly, I ordered a 3LR because I wanted a road trip car. Lots of range and AWD for fun weather and mountain passes. I have no use for the extra performance of the 3P and the RWDs reduced battery size is not appealing to me. The Y doesn’t quite have the same range and I just am not that...

MAR2023: My Experience Driving 1,367mi Down Into California and Back

I understand that you don’t want to deviate from your favorite path down there but it seems adding in a stop at the supercharger in Burns / Hines OR is mostly on the way and eliminates some of the problems. It’s kind of weird that ABRP doesn’t select that path immediately. As far as why some...

Do I need to be in my car to know whether there's an update for my car?

My wifi to the car is sometimes a little touch and go. I’ve had the app tell me the update is ready to download and that I should connect the car to wifi to start the download. So I *think* that the app can get the pending update notification regardless of the cars current WiFi status.

Do I need to be in my car to know whether there's an update for my car?

The app checks, I usually get the notification in the app before I see it in the car. Though I’m not sure if it sends a ‘notify’ event to your phone, I’ve just noticed it pop up when going into the app (iOS).

can't stop unwanted premature initiation of new wifi connection - thwarting successful connection

I had some fun with the Tesla and wifi recently, though I’m not sure it will help your specific problem. I have a Deco mesh network and the Tesla had a lot of issues with that. I think it was due to it not liking the mesh network and also having range issues at 5ghz and wasn’t switching over...

Live in Seattle, buy in San Francisco?

I bought my inventory M3 is OR and brought it back to WA. Tesla just charged me WA state tax and sent me the registration. I doubt if buying in CA is any different unless there are some weird CA laws in place to prevent such things.

Hello, sorry to hear about the problems you are having that’s not a great experience in a new to you car. OK to Push the Tesla, Tow switch?

I’m in seattle and have wondered this myself. I hope as long as one can get the car into tow mode or neutral it shouldn’t be a problem. But as you said if the 12v dies it probably will not be pushed and will need a jump first.

First two week and first ~1000 miles in a new 2023 M3LR AWD

First two week and first ~1000 miles in a new 2023 M3LR AWD

This is my first Tesla, prior to this car I was driving a much loved Subaru Impreza 2.5i that I bought new in 2007. However, it was getting older and I was increasingly having a difficult time justifying burning fossil fuels. So like many of you I put my wallet where my conscious was and took...
