    P100D without smart air suspension

I have a P100DL with coil suspension. It is however a 2015 P85D with upgraded battery and software. Best Tesla I have ever driven!

How can I tell if I have the P+ suspension on my P85D?

Does this statement also apply to P85D´s produced with coil suspension?

Updated 100D Performance tests and Chill Mode

No Tesla does not state the 0-60 incl rollout for the non-performance models. Only for P, the official 0-60 includes reduction for rollout. 0-60 for 90 D and 100D has always been 4.2 but was lowered to 4.1 at the time of upgraded performance for 75D. So this means that 100D now makes 0-60 in 3.9.

Updated 100D Performance tests and Chill Mode

This is 3.6 s with vbox and rollout. So thats 3.9 from standsstill. That means uncorking reduces 0-60 by 0.2 s (states 4.1 on tesla design studio)

CPO P85D with or without ludicrous?

Finding a P85D with plus-suspension and Ludicrous upgrade would be the perfect catch!
  6. N

    Plus Matters

Yes the P100D+ would be nice but the price is just too high. I chased down a P85D+ and found one with Ludicrous retrofitted. So, almost as quick as the P100D, but WAY better handling. At half the price. The range of the 85-battery is more than enough.
  7. N

    Plus Matters

The only thing better than a P85+ is the early P85D with the sports plus suspension. The later PD cars, including the P100D, are all just too soft in the suspension.

    0-60/30-50/50-70 comparative times for 70D/85D/P85D

From the previous testing by benf in this thread, it is evident that 90D is traction limited from a dead stop 0-10 mph. A dragstrip would probably make 0.2s difference. Launchmode would add 0.1-0.2s. Max battery heat maybe also 0.1-0.2s
  9. N

    0-60/30-50/50-70 comparative times for 70D/85D/P85D

SOC and temp is crucial. Add a stripped down car without pano and frunk liner à la motortrend Add sticky dragstrip Heat the battery Stomp the pedal like crazy Subtract rollout Voila you´re at 3.4 sec for the 90D?

Actual 0-60 performance of the S85D?

The non-p cars are conservatively rated, about 0.3-0.4 s faster in the real world. The P-cars are slower than rated mainly due to the rollout which makes the 0-60 look 0.3 s faster than the actual performance. Maybe this difference is due to making the P look better vs the non-P? When MT...

    Has anyone received a 100D?

    0-60/30-50/50-70 comparative times for 70D/85D/P85D
  13. N

    Has anyone received a 100D?

Well, since the real world 0-60 of the 85/90D is 3.8s without rollout, it would not be surprising if the 100D is just as fast and the official time stated on the website would be 3.8 (however still the same ad the 90D). Tesla has the ability to play with performance numbers quite a bit.

P90D (Insane) is quicker than P85D - Review

So, I am not surprised. This is what we all suspected, both that the P90D is quicker than P85D, and the fact that you can upgrade your insane to ludacris as software retrofit. I wonder why Tesla is not communicating this to the customers? But I must say that is a very expensive software update...

Why has Tesla dumbed down the suspension tuning on a $100K sports sedan?

^yeah, but I do not care about nurnburgring, I'm talkning about the daily driving experience. And regarding to your P85D, thats a pre-april production right? They dont produce those P85Ds anymore with the stiffer suspension. The post april PDs are much softer than P+

Why has Tesla dumbed down the suspension tuning on a $100K sports sedan?

I have the P85+ and I too agree with OP. I have test driven the 85D, P85D and P90D and they all felt like boats compared to the P85+. And the steering feel is WAY better too on the +. So, yes the PD have ceazy acceleration but the every-day drive is superior on the old P85+ So the new improved...

To D or Not To D - Driving Pleasure

Steering feel is superior on RWD. Quite a big difference imo. AWD steering feels synthetic. But AWD had better traction. Which is more important to you?
  22. N

To P or NOT to P...

P85D feels faster in normal speeds because accelerator sensitivity is higher than 85D. The throttle responce is different to make it feel more responsive, but it is not always a good thing in normal daily driving.
  23. N

Comparing the older P85+ and the new 85D

Well call it what you want. But the suspension on 85D is definitively softer than the +-suspension, and awd surely affects steering feel negatively. You cannot feel the difference? Do a back-to-back test drive. that said, the traction control on D models is very aggressive. Added to this, when...

Comparing the older P85+ and the new 85D

P85+ has a different feel than 85D. The rwd with +-suspension results in a much better steering feel and sportier drive and better cornering than the awd. 85D is considerably more numb and floatier. 0-60 is the same but P85 feels quicker once rolling.

    Smart Air Suspension- Dampening

Lola, Yes I would probably have liked the sport suspension on the initial PDs. It it, however discontinued, and there are no indications known to me, that the stiffer suspension is going to be reintroduced. There is also the disconcerting probability that you are never sure what you are going...

    Smart Air Suspension- Dampening

Yes there is a noticeable difference in handling when lowered, especially if lowered to the old low setting by using lowering links. The stiffness, however, is unchanged - - - Updated - - - I think you can attribute the no-roll in corners due to sway bars
  29. N

    Smart Air Suspension- Dampening

I recently test drove a P90DL, and it certainly did NOT have the stiffer dampers. It felt much softer than my P85+. The steering feel was also considerably worse in the P90DL, probably due to a combination of the AWD and the softer suspension. Both were on 21" PS2. I also do not feel any...

Ver 7 Throttle Response - RWD Model S

My impressions on v7.0 on classic non AP P85+: Throttle response is much better. Maybe not faster 0-60 but more responsive to accelerator. Regen is more aggressive. Steering feel is improved. Stability on acceleration is improved.

P90D....How much of the + suspension is still there?

I own a P85+ and test drove a P90DL yesterday. Both on staggered 21" PS2. Yes, the low-speed acceleration of the P90DL is ahead of the P85+, but the suspension is nowhere near the +-suspension. Floatier. I was also amazed of how much better steering feel the P85+ has compared to P90DL (or all...

    Firmware 7.0 - For Classic Model S

Classic, no AP. I also find the steering improved quite a lot. Overall I would say that you def should update to 7.0!
  33. N

    Firmware 7.0 - For Classic Model S

My experience with 7.0 throttle response is quite the opposite. I find that the accelerator now requires less depression, it is more sensitive than before. Except at really slow speeds, which makes it smoother from a dead stop. However, when rolling, a gentle tap on the accelerator yields quite...

Air Suspension no longer lowers at highway speeds (FW update v5.8)

    P85D (pre/post April) ride performance

AMN, it must be something wrong with the suspension on your P85D. So, did they replace the dampers on your car, since you now have the standard suspension? All I want is the same suspension as the P85+ on the PxxD.
  43. N

    P85D (pre/post April) ride performance

I still can´t fathom why Tesla removed the performance suspension!?! It is the main thing holding me back from ordering a P90D, as I currently have a P85+. I do NOT want a mushier ride with worse steering feel. - - - Updated - - -

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

  47. N

Personal comparison between 85 Air Suspension and 85 Coil Suspension

Since the plus-suspension is discontineud, replaced with only softer air suspension, I think the only way to go now is coils if you want handling and road feel. However, coils sit very high and has to be lowered at least 1 inch IMO.

    P85D (pre/post April) ride performance

From Sorkas data, it seems sway bars are thicker on P85D pre april than P+. That would result in more head snatch on PDs? Doesn't make sense.
