Scratch on bumper. Any way to fix this?

I would try and buff it out myself: Start at the first step, and keep moving down the list until you get to the forth step. STOP at the step you are satisfied. Go progressively more aggressive, and stop once you achieve the results you are satisfied with. Won't be able to get it 100%, but...

Leaving Charger Plugged in at Home? Is this ok...

I'm the same way, only use the car a couple times a week for short drives. I changed my charge limit from 80% down to 55%. So my battery ranges between 45%-55% state of charge. If I'm planning a decent length round-trip drive, then I'll top it off to 80%. I also like to keep the charge on the...

Wall Connector pigtail - what kind of 50am range cord to use

Wall Connector includes integrated GFCI protection. Adding a GFCI breaker on the outlet that then feeds a Wall Connector will cause nuisance tripping. But GFCI is code required now for outlet. So catch-22. Can't add GFCI, but need to add GFCI. Don't do it. Just go hardwire. Don't pigtail the...

Pigtail on a Wall Connector is not recommended. Direct Wire.

Inches Of Water in Trunk After I drove through water

2 to 3 inches of water? Or 2 to 3 feet? Seems hard to believe that driving through 2 to 3 inches of water would rip off the bumper and flood that compartment with that much water.

    Extended warranty

Extremely unlikely you would ever need the battery replaced on a Tesla, you probably will have junked the car before the battery goes bad. Deductible is $250, but what is the Annual Premium for that coverage? Also, that coverage has exclusions for any kind of physical damage to the battery.

Texas heat & parking in garage (Mini-Split in garage)

I'm in a hot climate 90-100 F during this summer heat wave. I have a portable AC in my garage, but only use it when working on the cars. Old school type with dual hoses (before mini-splits became the norm). Old school portables are really energy inefficient so it is never on unless I'm in the...

    Car cover recommendations?

I have the same question. Mine is parked in my garage. But people come-and-go through the garage all the time (not the front door), and sometime rub up against the car, walk between the 2 cars and use them as handrails, and also park cars next to mine and might open the door on it. Would like a...

Homelink Not Available for 2023 Model Y?

When you look in the Tesla Parts Catalog, it seems like they are the same part numbers. Maybe the 2023+ M3 has a different installation procedure or something they are trying to track. Guess we won't know until someone actually orders that new version, sees the parts list, and watches the...

40A Breakers Get Hot When Charging

If the breaker is warm, the first thing I would check is that the wires going into the breaker are properly torqued. * Throw main 100 amp breaker to power off the breaker box. * Remove the Panel Cover. * Inspect the wires in the Breaker, see if they have corrosion or burnt/blackened end. *...

Upper control arm bushings , tesla wont replace

Most places these days won't replace control arm bushings (ICE and EV). They want to replace the entire control arm as a unit, easier for them that way instead of pressing bushings out and in. Also, less chance of customer coming back saying the new bushings that were installed are also...

    Model 3 jack points damage

I'd just get a pair of ViseGrips and try and bend it back the best you can. Then maybe touch it up with a file to get off any burs or sharp edges, so nobody runs their hand along there feeling for the jack point and slices themselves up.

    Uniden R3 radar detector

New supercharging process requiring payment method

Something I've experienced multiple times with the Tesla app: When you go to the iPhone App Store, and search for Tesla app to see if it needs updating, it just says "OPEN", which is misleading because you think that means you already have the latest version. You have to actually tap the Tesla...

Just use a mobile charger with 5-15 (at least initially)?

Key question: Is the "100 amp panel in my garage" a Sub Panel or the Main Panel?
  16. E

Just use a mobile charger with 5-15 (at least initially)?

It seems that whoever installed the 5-20 receptacle should have installed a 5-15 receptacle, the wire behind that 5-20 is probably only rated for 5-15. So you can't even use a 5-20 Mobile Connector there (only the 5-15) or it will trip the breaker when it tries to draw 16 amps. Plus, seems like...

Just use a mobile charger with 5-15 (at least initially)?

Is the 5-20 a dedicated circuit? Or is it daisy chained to other outlets in the Kitchen/Laundry Room, etc.? If dedicated, then you could get the NEMA 5-20 pigtail from Tesla for the Mobile Connector. I have both 5-15 and 5-20 and the 5-20 gives a couple more miles an hour, which is a noticeable...

I have this Eaton CH panel and i am looking for Eaton CH260 Circuit breakers. It's Backordered everywhere. How to find an alternative that will fit

If that particular brand is such a problem, what about getting a 100 Amp breaker for it. Then running that to a new Sub Panel mounted right next to the Main Panel. And get a Sub Panel that is a common brand that has readily available and cheap breakers. Then hang anything new (like the Wall...

Is Model Y LR 7-seat being discontinued in Mexico?

Where are the Model Y's sold in Mexico made? USA or China? Did production switch from USA to China, that might explain it. Canada Model Y's made in China don't have 7 seats either.
  22. E

Did my windshield tint lead to this crack?

If I had an old car from the 1980's with no tech on it, then sure have a cheaper third party company replace the windshield. But with any kind of tech like cameras, anti-collision systems, windshield wiper sensors, heads-up displays, etc. I'd only go with OE provider.

    Breaker Box Advice

The panel should say if it allows Tandem Breakers, and if so, which slots you are allowed to put in Tandem Breakers. Sometimes only certain spaces can be Tandem. But it should say either on the label or manual for that panel. And you can't Tandem GFCI. So your "Tandem" options may be very...

    Gap Coverage?

    Name that rattle

Okay, I hear it. Kind of like a clicking rattle. I'd still try and align the rear hatchback. Sometimes the air pressure does weird things like that. Buffeting, Booming, Rattling, Clicking due to air pressure. Another thing to try: Turn on Bioweapon Defense Mode. That creates a positive...

Q's on Moving my Charging Station

How much more work would it be to install a 60 amp breaker in the Main Panel, and then redo a full wire run to the Wall Connector with heavier gauge wire? Then you would get 48 amp instead of 24 amp.

2022 Model Y Performance Rear Ended, totaled?

Most important thing is family is okay. Another factor for an Insurance Company is future liability. If they don't total it, and force you to fix it, then say in 6 months it catches fire or something, the Insurance Company could get sued because they forced you to fix an unsafe car rather than...

Do I have to buy and carry extra charger in the car for long trips?

The J1772 adapter is the only adapter I've ever used (and I have all of them; Mobile charger, bunch of pigtails, CCS combo, etc.) The only cautionary tale I would offer is that by having the J1772 connected to the home AUTEL charger, you are probably not going to be diligent at removing it from...

From White to Grey paint - "Multicoat" an issue?

Yes. Multicoat usually does cost more for other auto manufactures, not sure why it was ever the "free" option for Tesla. A typical pearl white paint has the base coat(s) White, then coat(s) of Pearl, then coat(s) of Clear. Example, a 3-stage paint would be: White, Pearl, Clear. A 2-stage...

Do I have to buy and carry extra charger in the car for long trips?

I have a Wall Connector used for daily charging. I also have the Mobile Connector that I bought when I first bought the Tesla, for range anxiety to keep in the trunk. I've never used it. Every road trip has had plenty of Superchargers. I also only stay in large hotels or resorts that always...

    Tesla Mobile Connector “chip” ?

Hubbell, Bryant, or Cooper are usually what people recommend. At least one good thing about going with a 14-30 is you can typically get a Hubbell or Bryant much cheaper. Due to supply/demand issues where everyone with an EV is buying 14-50, the prices for 14-50 have really gotten jacked up. A...

    Tesla Mobile Connector “chip” ?

Step 1: Determine Wire Size. Step 2: If you haven't determined Wire Size, go back to Step 1. All other decisions are made once wire size is determined. The wire size will determine what breaker size to use and what receptacle to use. Also, I believe the "chip" you are referring to is based on...

Acceleration Boost (AB) or 20" induction wheels for 2023 new Model Y LR

'Plasti-dip' Gemini Wheel cover before and after

Navigation/GPS not working on brand new Model Y

If the car is otherwise perfect: No panel gap issues, perfect paint, no road noise, has HW4, no rattles. Perfect in every way. Then I'd give them 13 days to fix it, otherwise return/rebuy. If there are other issue with panel gap, bad paint, lots of road noise, rattles, or has HW3. I'd...

Moving for work with no home charging - thoughts, advice?

Wonder if you could ask them what is the kWh of the Work Chargers? Reason being, is I have six free L2 Chargers at work (Chargepoint). But they are unbelievable slow. Homelink Not Available for 2023 Model Y?

There are a couple eBay sellers of these kits. I think as long as you get a new kit that has the module, bracket, and bolt from a seller that has sold hundreds with a rinse-and-repeat listing, that has near 100% positive feedback with comments that say the kit works great, then you should be...

CCS - buy now or wait?

Now that all the dominos are falling, GM, Ford, Rivian, Volvo, I would say that Tesla will quickly become the standard in North America, and CCS will go the way of the Dodo bird. So unless you have a short-term need like you get free charging, probably not worth it at this point. I bought a...

Warning - make sure your connections are properly torqued!

I believe the Clipper Creek charger has a built in short pigtail, about 12 inches. And you have to wire it up to that pigtail. I don't believe you can direct wire a Clipper Creek. I also don't think you can open it up and get rid of the pigtail, it's factory built into the unit. Which is one...

    Gen3 Dual Charger Load Sharing

    Gen3 Dual Charger Load Sharing

    Gen3 Dual Charger Load Sharing

I think the OP means he has each on its own 60 amp circuit, and then doing "Power Sharing" in the application where you can set the maximum power across all devices.
