My first few days with the 3...

Coming from an S with air suspension to the 3, the ride definitely feels a lot tighter. So does the steering. But a very nice ride none-the-less. And I'm hoping the road noise is just a function of the new tires. At least now we have speed-based sound leveling and a nice array of speakers...

Does/will the Model 3 have a heated steering wheel?

I picked up my Model 3 Wednesday and the delivery guy told my wife no heated rear seats when she asked how to turn them on. I told him to check again. He disappeared for a few minutes then came back and said no heated rear seats. I pointed to the "throughout" wording and he and his manager...

    Glass roof panel “lip” defect

Yeah, it may be a pain to get it fixed but it's better than paying $50 - $60 grand for a car that's not right the day you drive it off the lot. That's the kind of thing you just can't un-see once you know it's there.

New England Model 3 Configuration Invites

Yours and mine must be coming on the same truck! I'm a current owner and ordered about 12 minutes after the Hingham, MA store opened on March 31. Delivery Specialist said I was the first delivery in my area, but that's obviously not really accurate if there are multiple 3's on the truck...

[Poll] Model 3 reservation holders: Would you get the S/X instead if you could?

The wife and I wanted to wait for the 3, but we also wanted to test drive an S just to know what driving electric feels like. Mistake! We were proud owners of a used Model S 10 days later (saved 1/3 the original price and only gave up 10K miles by buying used). Still have 2 reservations for...

    Online configurator preview

If you get an email to configure and you don't respond in a reasonable amount of time (I think it's like 10 days or 2 weeks), they put you in a short hold queue then the try again. If you again don't respond during the designated time period, they cancel your reservation and refund your down...

Get some Sense... [sense monitoring solution]

They also have a couple caveats on that. First is that it could take up to a week to find, and second is that it still might not find it! BTW, I've had my Sense about a month now, and it's discovered 19 devices. 7 or 8 of those are correctly identified so far. Wife's not impressed. I think...

    Wiki Model 3 Reservation Tally

This late in the reservation game, I'm not convinced how much precedence your Model 3 reservation will give you over everyone who's been reserving for the past 7 months. Especially if you bought your X after March 31st (not that I know if you did or not).

Car Wash Recommendations: in General, and NoVA in particular

I can't remember my wind deflector ever being wet. That sounds like another symptom of poor seals.

Car Wash Recommendations: in General, and NoVA in particular

I can't speak to the car washes, but the leaky pano roof is definitely something the SC will take care of for you. One of the loaners I was given after I dropped my S off for service, as soon as I hit the accelerator it poured about 1/4 of water on the driver (me!). Since the rains were over...

    Unveiling on Oct 17th

Tesla AP is already amazing, but introducing another level of amazement isn't unexpected, it's a logical progression. I'm convinced this announcement will have absolutely nothing to do with AP. Considering Musk said they needed a couple more days to finalize the product before introducing it...

And somewhere out there is some sap who thinks he looks SOOOOO cool driving down the road in that!

    Unveiling on Oct 17th

Except that back on Sep 16 EM twitted this: Glad you like it! I think we will probably stop at 100 kWh on battery size.

Rear facing seats increased price, now $4000

On the up side, it should ever-so-slightly increase trade in value if you have the jump seats. (I hope)

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Now see, I have have a huge problem with that. There's no way in you-know-where that functionality of our cars should be in any way dependent upon the workings of a remote server. The cars should only be sending data, not receiving. If Tesla has a server problem, it should have zero impact on...

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Yeah, well for those of us without Tech, the last useful thing we got was the white backup lines with 6.1.

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Full scroll for songs, albums, artists...:( The USB search functionality has taken a huge step backwards. Personally, I really don't like the new media interface at all. My wife took the car yesterday, and when she got back I asked her how she liked the new software -- her first response...

    Tesla Gigafactory

Definitely not shiny enough for that! I expect that the GF's roof design will be closely related to a recent EM tweet in which he said that they are "Aiming for Oct 28 unveil in SF Bay Area of new Tesla/SolarCity solar roof with integrated Powerwall 2.0 battery and Tesla charger." That would...

    Spoiler Removal

Another thread in this forum referenced a can of solvent that the service center uses to remove the badging, so perhaps that would help. Sorry, I didn't secure in my brain exactly what the solvent was. Also, people have mentioned using dental floss to removed the badging, thought I don't know...

    Tesla Gigafactory

Well Tesla plans on using Solar panels, a wind farm, and geothermal energy to power the GF when it's complete. Whether or when such replenishable energy supplies will be used prior to full completion hes not been disclosed. So yes, they do plan to be self sufficient, but that doesn't mean...

    Tesla Gigafactory

Funny that you say that. The end-goal for my wife and me was to each have a Model 3, but 2 years (and 3 days) ago we bought a used 2013 Model S to hold us over. By today's standards she's a dinosaur (no tech, no autopilot), but she's still the most amazing car we've ever driven. We'll have...

    Towing

Quite honestly, I'm convinced he does that specifically because it annoys others. He's a BMW fan who, for some reason, insists on coming into the Tesla forums and telling us, among other things, how afraid we all should be that BMW is building hybrids. (Ooh, I'm trembling just at the thought...

Model 3 back Seat fold flat!

For a typical family, if they try to squeeze both parents, 2.2 kids, a dog, and 4 bicycles inside the car, I'd love to see the pictures. Granted, a canoe on the roof or a collection of bikes in a rack aren't the best thing for aerodynamics, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. You...

    The M3 terrifies BMW

At some point, I expect someone to tell us we're all wrong and to start arguing about the "average" self-checkout line. Or maybe we're all just "terrified" of cashiers. :p
  31. MassModel3

    Towing

With the X they were targeting 10,000 pounds towing capacity but dropped it to 5,000 when the X was released. I don't know if that's a limitation of the electric motors or something else, but I'd bet the 3 will be 2,500 to 3,000 pounds towing capacity.
  32. MassModel3

Model 3 back Seat fold flat!

I can pretty much guarantee there will be a rear rack and a roof rack as options for the Model 3. You should be able to just secure bikes, canoes, coolers, and small children to one of those for the long trips and overnighters at rest areas.

    The M3 terrifies BMW

Ah, you forgot about the guy who has a coupon that won't scan or needs to be manually entered. Then the line just stops until the guy (who has the deer-in-the-headlights "what am I gonna do now" look on his face) flags down a clerk who's trying to ring customers through a typical checkout...

    The M3 terrifies BMW

What Elon Musk said was never in question. Try to keep up! The dead horse was YOU bringing up the long dead discussion of what "average" means.
  35. MassModel3

    "Unable to charge"

Someone else had posted something similar a while back, though I can't remember if it was an S or an X that had the problem. Software bug. Report it to your service center so they can log it, plus they can pull your car logs and hopefully have a record of the issue to submit as a problem...

Poll: Would you buy an early production Model 3?

Sucks about your door seals. Unfortunately, a lot of repairs like that will get better only with trial and error by the service guys as they learn what works and what doesn't (aka: how to do it the right way). Downside of being on the bleeding edge, my friend. Well, since EM said that...

Where'd you get the red Tesla "T" ? Or was that a wrap, too?
  38. MassModel3

    The M3 terrifies BMW

Be careful if you do decide to test drive an S or X. I'd never driven electric, so I just wanted myself and my wife to experience electric driving (to see if it lived up to all the hype). 10 days later we were buying a CPO. Some things can't be helped.

Looking Forward to the Model 3 Debut

Reveal part deux will explain how the Model 3 will drive itself out of the Fremont factory and deliver itself to your home, stopping along the way for Superchargers, if necessary. That's why they're starting locally first -- they want to ensure door-to-door is working, and they want to ensure...

    UhOh

You know, back in the day when I bought my Saturn, one of the selling points was that the key fob is designed (and tested) to withstand 50+ washes in a standard washing machine. I was somewhat shocked when I realized that there are no rubber gaskets on the Model S fobs. Tangent: Back when I...

    The M3 terrifies BMW

My wife and I were discussing a new 60 just the other day in lieu of one of the Model 3 reservations we have down (when Tesla emailed out about new lease options). The compelling thing about the new 60 compared to our existing 60 is all the new features built into the base model, like the full...

    The M3 terrifies BMW

I'm sorry, I'm obviously complete at fault here. I mistakenly gave you far too much credit in your ability to follow what was said. So let me break it down for you.... You chose to argue the definition of "average" with several members of this forum. Yes, that became a hot point for you for...

    The M3 terrifies BMW

So just so we're clear, you're saying that simply because the Tesla Model 3 isn't yet publicly available, it's okay to make up your own abbreviations (T3) and your own words to describe future buyers (Teslerati)? And you should also bear in mind that just because we're in the Model 3 forum...

Will the Model 3 configurator show variable dates?

If you reserved in-store, they know where that was. If you reserved online, they should have the mailing address entered for the reservation. If you change it in MyTesla, I don't know if they would go on the original reservation address, or if they would go on the modified MyTesla address...

    The M3 terrifies BMW

I think (or at least hope) everyone's moved on past arguing over your definition of "average". Dead horse, move on. As @ohmman has pointed out, we drive Tesla's, not Tesle's. Or Tele's, in this case.
  47. MassModel3

    Owners with Dash Cams

Well you'd need two if you wanted to cover the rear of your car, too. Besides, a huge part of my getting a BlackVue is in case I come out of the grocery store and find a cracked bumper with someone else's paint on it. I definitely want to be able to track that person down. good luck doing...

Will the Model 3 configurator show variable dates?

Well that up-before-the-sun thing you did should at least make you one of the first in your region to get the Model 3. But sadly, living in California would most likely get you one sooner. Oh, and we still don't know what the regions are...
