    Cars tailgating whilst on Autopilot

something else to consider - when using TACC or AP, the brake lights don't turn on immediately. The Tesla will begin slowing down using the regen brakes first, and (usually) only a bit later will brake lights turn on (either when TACC decides regen isn't enough and friction brakes are required...

Sydney to Port Macquarie & beyond in a P85D

great to know. I did a trip from Sydney -> Quakers Hill -> Wauchope (essentially Port Macquarie). 4 people, full of luggage, AC on. I had to stop in Newcastle and charge up for probably 90 mins at 11kW and I only just made it (I think I had a few % left at the destination), I had to slow down...

    Check this charge point out!

awesome! I went to Yarangobilly caves in March this year, spoke to the lady in the shop there about charging, and she didn't mention anything about a charging bay. She did let me charge up from the BBQ area though. That would have been so good if it was there when i was there, i was really...

How long for the last 20% on the mobile connector?

I wonder why mine is so slow. I just tested it now - at 80%, 7h 35m to full. Maybe it's because I have low volts - usually about 230V.

How long for the last 20% on the mobile connector?

I guess, something to consider - 20% on a 70 is 14kWh, 20% on a 90 is 18kWh. so possibly it could take even longer...

How long for the last 20% on the mobile connector?

    Key Fob Owner Fail

I had my fob go through the wash a couple of weeks ago. It sat around for a couple of hours before I realised. I took the battery out, turned a warm hair dryer on it for a few minutes, then dumped it in a bag of rice for about 8 hours. Then I put the same battery back in, and it's all good and...

    Did you order a Model ≡ (Aus\NZ)?

    Did you order a Model ≡ (Aus\NZ)?

I'm just curious - seems like every man and his dog ordered a Model 3. Simple poll; nothing fancy. If you haven't ordered one yet, but think you will, please answer No. Update your vote if you do order.

Has Autopark ever scuffed your rims?

also try and have a look at how close the two cars you're parking in between are to the curb - the Tesla uses the other cars to park, not the curb. If the other two cars are REALLY close to the curb, the Tesla will probably try and park close as well to be inline with the cars.. Also if the...

    Carbon Fibre Spolier (add on)

A spoiler is to increase down force which increases handling. The car already weighs > 2 tonne and has a super low centre of gravity. IMO it is useless, and will probably reduce performance/range a tiny bit (maybe more at high speeds - it's just extra drag for no benefit)

Road Trip - Yaaaaaaay! Melbourne to Scotts Head ...

We came in pretty late, so rather than spending 40-50 mins charging up at the SC, then going to the accommodation and starting the next day at 95%, we spent 20 mins at the SC for a top up to 60 or 70%, then charged the rest of the way over night at the accommodation so we could start the next...

Road Trip - Yaaaaaaay! Melbourne to Scotts Head ...

I stayed in the Tuckerbox Motor Inn in gundagai. They allowed me to 10A charge over night, have a look at my post for some photos of the charging. The accomodation itself was clean, simple, nothing special but not bad.

    Range efficiencies according to Tesla

ah they put it back! it wasn't there when I posted this. The raw data I posted has more info.. The website calculator doesn't have windows or lights data, but the JSON file that it pulls the data from does. I wonder if it was just too messy/confusing to include this data on the web front...

    Range efficiencies according to Tesla

Not sure where I read it? Did you read my post? I linked to all the sources. It's from Teslamotors.com - it's their range calculator data. Windows up, aircon on: On the 85D, 19" wheels, 30°C, at 70km/h you'll get 621 kms On the 85D, 19" wheels, 30°C, at 110km/h you'll get 415 kms Windows...

    Range efficiencies according to Tesla

    Range efficiencies according to Tesla

Should I buy one, or both, of these Tesla charging accessories?

in my (albeit limited) experience, every place that I've been to that has 3 phase has 20A, not 32A. I bought both the 20A and 32A adaptors, fully expecting to not really use the 20A adaptor very much, and I haven't used the 32A one once yet.. - I imagine most motels won't have 3 phase outlets...

    Post your best "mpg" kWhrs/100k

    Supercharger - Port Macquarie NSW

mm exactly the experiment I was going to suggest you do ;) I guess you'd have to find a hill that keeps your speed at the speed limit for a long time. Any hill too steep and you have to break - a waste of energy. any hill too gentle and you'd need to accelerate, negating the test. When in...

    Sydney to Adelaide (without Melbourne)

Tesla takes care of this, if you have the route set in the car and it routes you through SCs, it tells you how long you need to stay at the SC for. The standard 20 mins you hear about everywhere is fairly accurate. It all depends on what % you're at when you arrive. On the way down 20 mins...

    Small Generator as backup

nope. converting a single phase to 3 phase won't magically make the car charge faster, in fact it'll probably be slower as the conversion process incurs some losses (thanks Lex) You can get 3 phase generators, but I don't know if you could find one to fit in your boot. huh?
  43. omniwolf

    Small Generator as backup

also be aware that the best you'll likely get out of a small generator is 15A, which is still quite a slow charge (and only 50% faster that the standard 10A plug you can find almost anywhere). If your wife is happy with a 15A (~15km/h) charge, you should be able to convince her that a much...

thanks, went through it and found an installer. Sent them an email, but they don't seem to have done Teslas in the past. Seems reputable, however, and good reviews on the web. the 3M crystalline stuff is about $600 more expensive than the "standard" 3M Colour Stable tint, so I don't think...
