    Battery Fuse Replacement 2016 Model S 90D

I just had the fuse replaced on my 2016 Model X P90D. Initial appointment was created for ranger service but was changed the day before to the closest service center. Took it in at 1:45p and got a Model 3 loaner since "these repairs can take a while". Got the car back same day at 4:30p. No...

Falcon Wing Door false obstacle detection

This is a pretty old post and either parts have changed, or the understanding of how the sensors work have been better clarified. Here's a diagram of the pinch sensor locations in the falcon wing door. It doesn't match the description of what was relayed to me way back then, but it's the only...

Cyber truck, Large windshield, Large amount of heat from Sun into cabin

The heat rejection layer on the windshield of my Model X does a very good job where it's applied. It's only where the headliner would traditionally go, and I usually only notice radiant sun from the side windows since I'm not often driving into the setting/rising sun. It doesn't seem like the...

    Drive Unit Replacement

Yeah, my 2016 MX P90D rear drive replacement took 3 months because they were waiting on that HV splitter. I wonder if they found a path to upgrade yours to save that time, but had to update the charging unit as well since they're not compatible.

Cybertruck Will Feel Dated By the Time it Comes Out?

Ugh. Big hood is back and no frunk pass through? That's half the things I was interested in. Are they at least keeping the opening midgate?

Cybertruck Will Feel Dated By the Time it Comes Out?

Tonneau cover would work for the bed, but would need a cross brace where the cab starts. Besides that, I think the glass goes down into the midgate, so when it's open, even with a tonneau cover, the window portion will be open. The purpose of the lowering midgate is for temporary...

Cybertruck Will Feel Dated By the Time it Comes Out?

Man, I'm not the biggest fan of Stellanis vehicles, and I know this Ram is still just a concept but strip away all the superficial screens that won't make it out of concept and this thing is checking a lot of boxes for me. I'm currently still in my '16 Model X and love it, but have a CT on...

How bad are the supply chain issues?

Resolution. I just got my Model X back. The HV splitter harness had to be sourced from Europe. They either were going through a revision of the part and had to find one that would fit my 2016, or wait for the new revision units to be made.

    Drive Unit Replacement

Update. Just got my Model X back after 12 weeks. Here's the drive unit they put in. ASY,P-Train,REMAN,SPORT,LARGE DU (1025598-00-T) I'm guessing the "REMAN" might mean remanufactured. My repair was delayed because of the HV rapid splitter harness. I guess it had to be sourced from Europe...

    Drive Unit Replacement

I hope your replacement goes better than mine. I'm still without my Model X after 10 weeks. They're waiting on an HV rapid splitter.

How bad are the supply chain issues?

Tesla is repairing it under warranty so I'm not sure if they would source used parts.
  12. D

How bad are the supply chain issues?

Yeah, I guess it would make sense that the HV wiring harnesses for the newer Model Xs are different than those on the older ones; price of progress. I'm not sure if it's more or less comforting to know that there might not be parts readily available for my car. Cybertruck can't come soon...

How bad are the supply chain issues?

My 2016 P90D with around 85k miles threw a bunch of error codes and had to be flatbed hauled to my local service center. Turns out the rear motor unit went out and is going to be replaced under warranty. My car went in on May 23rd and I got a loaner from my awesome service center on June 8th...

    Drive Unit Replacement

Not to rez a dead thread, but I wanted to add another data point. My 2016 P90D requires a new rear drive unit under warranty at 84k miles and here's the part description. ASY,P-TRAIN,SPORT,MECH,COMPLETE(1002633-01-Q)

    Multiple BTS and GTW errors.

My 2016 early VIN Model X P90D just had its first major failure at 84K miles. Felt some rough rear motor driving and had a BTS error pop up stating that the vehicle may not restart. Decided to head back home instead of going into work and got the car into the garage where it promptly popped...

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

I've had occasion to scrape ice. Salt spray will still freeze up on the wiper blades when driving at highway speeds. Pre-heating can melt accumulated snow and ice, but it seems to take a good amount of time and I don't always remember to do it before leaving work. We also have the occasional...

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Pre-heat the car before you even step outside, it should melt and slide right off. Also with adjustable suspension I'd think it would fit in most garages. Yeah, length is the issue for most people. Pre-heating should work, given enough time, which leads me to my latest question. I got the...

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

That's why I said "With the wiper in this location, I wouldn't be able to do that on the drivers side unless the wiper hinged off the windshield.". It might be able to, but I haven't seen it in any position besides resting. The wipers on my Model X are tucked down below the hood line and can...

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Yeah, I'm talking about snowfall accumulated from leaving your Cybertruck outside since it won't fit in many garages. You need to clear that off before you drive.
  20. D

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

I think my only issue will be accumulated snow and ice removal. When I remove the snow off my windshield, I usually use an extending brush and pull the snow towards me, working from both sides. With the wiper in this location, I wouldn't be able to do that on the drivers side unless the wiper...

    What is it, a poltergeist?

Yeah, mine went away too, but I have a new battery waiting just in case. Maybe it is the 12V, but just a low voltage threshold thing that was rectified during the next charging cycle.
  22. D

    What is it, a poltergeist?

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to decide if I want Tesla to replace it or if I'll just get a Ohmmu replacement and do it myself. A few hundred dollars difference. I'm not getting a pop up warning, so I'm not positive it's the 12V, unless this is common bad battery behavior. The hazard...

    What is it, a poltergeist?

I know this post is a few years old, but my 2016 Model X started doing this same exact thing. I've had the 12V battery replaced under warranty once, but I'm long out of it now. Did you ever find a resolution to this issue?

Buying a Tesla in Michigan, 2016 vs 2021

I went with Alliant in 2016 for my Model X and again for the Model Y. They have some kind of partnership with Tesla, especially in Michigan, which makes the weird car transfer and loan process easy. The rate is good enough that I'm not bothered to hunt for slightly lower rate, just to save the...

Buying a Tesla in Michigan, 2016 vs 2021

We got a quote for ppf from Motor City Autospa in Royal Oak. It's where I got the full front end done on my Model X. They quoted $1599 for the full front or $5600 for the full car on the Model Y. That includes wash, clay, and polish on affected areas. I've read the Model Y has issues with...

Buying a Tesla in Michigan, 2016 vs 2021

My wife and I bought our first Telsa, a Model X, in Michigan when it first came out in 2016. Because it's Michigan, we had to take an overnight trip down to Cleveland Ohio to pick it up. Tesla paid for a rental loaner and we have a nice overnight stay and great diner in Cleveland. We visited...

    Just received this warranty email

I'm taking my 2016 Model X in tomorrow for TSB service on the glass fascia and steering column bolt. I thought I was also going to get the eMMC replacement but they notified me that parts are in low supply and since they didn't detect that I was losing screen functionality, repair would be...

    Just received this warranty email

I got a notification in my Tesla app today stating that I had TSB recalls applicable to my 2016 Model X and to schedule an appointment. When I looked up my VIN on the website, it showed that the Steering bolt, roof applique, and eMMC are applicable, so I made a service appointment via the app...

    Side Mirror Replacement Cost FYI

Tesla Ranger replaced it in my workplace parking lot so 0 hours in the shop.

Did the prototype truck have power windows?

I think they mean, if both the front and back go down all the way. Sometimes because of interior door bracing, rear windows don't roll down all the way. The Cybertruck has an exoskeleton that might remove standard interior framing, but would still need side impact protection beams. I don't...

    Bed Divider

I usually fit most of the groceries for a family of 4 in the frunk of my Model X. That's about 6-8 grocery bags. Stuff that I buy at Costco goes in the trunk, under the deck lid. Cybertruck will probably have a larger frunk and under bed storage so groceries and smaller things shouldn't be a...

What features will MCU1 owners get with FSD computer?

Do you have an MCU1 with AP2 so it can do dashcam? I have a 2016 MX. I forget my nomenclature but I believe it's MCU1 and AP1 and I haven't seen the dashcam option since it's AP1 and not AP2.

Will Model X Plaid release finally fix shudder?

I've had the halfshafts replaced on my vin 807 three times, the latest with the updated hardware and the issue hasn't returned, but I've also kept my suspension in low. What height do you drive around in?
  34. D

Will the halfshaft issue be fixed?

It's probably a combination of the linkages required for adjustable suspension with the torque output from the front motor. Here's a link to the 44 page thread in the Model X forum. Users are starting to report it on Raven models as well. I've had my halfshafts replaced a few times and during...

    Second Row Power Seats

I think you have to hold the button if there's a person in the drivers or passengers seat directly in front of the seat you're trying to move. If the front seats are back far enough, they'll also move forward to make room for the second row seat movement. Also, confirm your easy entry settings.

    Self presenting doors?

I love my auto doors and will miss them terribly should I make the switch to the cybertruck. First world problem.
  37. D

Will the halfshaft issue be fixed?

Almost anyone that has the dynamic air suspension in the Model X and Model S is familiar with the issues of prematurely worn halfshafts in the front suspension (aka acceleration shudder). I've had the halfshafts on my Model X replaced three times (all under warranty) with the latest fix being...

    Disappointed the tri motor timeline

I'm with you two and I'm kind of disappointed the tri-motor moved up in the production schdeule. I pre-ordered my Model X and got it in early 2016 vin #807. I'm okay with missing out on some of the hardware updates since I purchased and enjoyed what I got. There were some little changes like...

    Test drives?

I never even sat in a Tesla when I pre-ordered my Model X. Driving it from the service center was the first time I drove a Tesla. I did start attending EV events so others could take a look and get a ride. You can request a test drive of the S, X, and 3 now but they won't drive anything like...

Walk me through the design decision for the cybertruck

I'm not a mechanical engineer but I had a few materials courses for my engineering degree. You're right about having a frame. If there'a a minor crash, then maybe just the panel or bumper gets damaged (plus some surrounding trim) and those can be removed and replaced. If there's a larger...

    Cybertruck as a daily driver?

I find myself looking at F150s more on my daily commute and there are a ton of them here in Michigan. Specifically the Cybertruck is equal in size to the F150 Supercab 6.5 styleside. I can't say I know enough about F150s to be able to identify that specific configuration but it seems like many...

    Cybertruck as a daily driver?

Like many of you I've reserved a Cybertruck since it seems to tick a lot of check boxes on what I want in a vehicle. My daily driver is a Model X and the largest vehicle I've driven is probably and old Ford Aerostar Extended (190"L x 72"w x 74h) or an '84 Grand Marquis (212"L x 78.3"w x...

Who is getting a Tesla Cybertruck

I'm seriously considering replacing my 2016 Model X P90D with the Cybertruck as it seems like a perfect evolution for my particular use case. When I got the Model X, we had new twins babies. The X held everything we needed for road trips and the falcon wing doors were an absolute dream for...

    Love the Truck, but...

I wouldn't mind seeing the front center seat/console having two lids. An outer lid that doesn't have storage space (or maybe enough for a media screen) but can serve as a tray table for rear occupants when the seat is up, and an inner lid that covers the actual center console storage. Probably...

    New screen UI in Cybertruck

I'm kind of with you. I rented a model 3 on a recent trip. Having a single center stack screen is manageable, but I missed the secondary (more detailed) navigation screen and always present media info of my Model X cluster.
  47. D

    New screen UI in Cybertruck

I can't imagine how that works unless you have multi stop navigation. I would think round trip would require input for how far (or where) you want to go before turning around to return to your staring point. I like the controls of the left but the media controls seem a bit far for the...
  48. D

Okay, I think down the road I’m getting one. Here’s why.

Answering my own question. The Motor Trend article has a shot of the front center seat folded down. Looks like the back of the seat has cup holders towards the front (head) with a little cubby indentation more forward of that and openable storage under the armrest.
  49. D

Favorite options? I want a snowplow and a winch.

Battery weight means that you won't need to carry sand bags in your truck bed during winter time.

    New screen UI in Cybertruck

Seems like a scripted demo based off of the two ride along videos I've seen. I don't think we can infer if it's because of a limited HMI implementation or a limited demonstration script. It will be fun to watch this develop.
