What Would Compel You To Upgrade to a Future Model X?

I admit they are slower to open & close but I’m never in that much of a hurry so I don’t mind that aspect. I have 2 granddaughters and loading them is so much easier with the FWD and with all the rain here in Oregon I love staying dry while loading. I’ve read about all of the issues with FWD’s...

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

Newport Oregon to Bend Oregon Received my FSD update this weekend and was able to test it out on my drive from Newport to Bend. This drive follows US-20 thru the Cascade Mountains which is 2-lanes and has a lot of hairpin, 30-mph turns so I felt would be a great test. I last used FSD several...

2023 X with USS any disadvantage

I picked up my 2023 Model X last December and had a problem with the FWD opening to its full extent. The service department fixed the problem by replacing the USS in the door — they even showed me the old ones. The admitted there is a lot of confusion over the USS but the FWD’s still have them.

just ordered an X, what accessories or parts should I expect?

Keep in mind the new MX’s sport a round projection lamp, not rectangular.

Have MYLR, thinking about buying MX

Maybe this is included in the description of “comfortable” but my X is a lot quieter than the Y.

    First Ever NACS Adapter

I realize a few charging companies are starting to install NACS plugs but for the foreseeable future I would only be concerned with Tesla’s policy since their’s is the only network I’m interested in using. Their’s and Rivian’s since I hope to charge my R1T on the Tesla network.

Custom wheels: what is best width and offset for perfect square setup on X?

True, but on my 2023 X the front tire is 265/45R20 and the rear is 275/45R20 which comes out to 29.4” vs 29.7” and 687 rev/mile vs 678 rev/mile. Is that a large enough difference to be noticeable?

Custom wheels: what is best width and offset for perfect square setup on X?

Does a square setup like this throw off the speedometer/odometer? I’m guessing putting OEM front wheels on the rear might affect this.

Tesla Supercharging - SC05 - Transfer supercharging workaround?

This simply says Supercharging may decrease the peak-charging rate. It says nothing about degrading battery life or range.

USS on X gone as well?

I took delivery of my Model X on Dec 20 and the next day realized that the FWDs did’t always raise to the highest point of travel — sometimes yes, sometimes no. So I took it in for service and the explanation they gave me was that paint overspray on the inside of the door panel was blocking the...

Does anyone here use EVMatch to share your home charger? If so, do you like it?

In 2017 we decided to take a road trip vacation from our home (at the time) in Jackson Hole to the East Coast. While in Charleston, SC we stayed at a hotel that advertised Tesla charging but the one destination charger was not operational. In desperation I searched PlugShare for charging...

Questions about Snow Chains for 2023 X with 20" Rims

When I lived in Park City my neighbor and I had to climb a fairly steep hill to access our driveways. Once during a heavy snowstorm I was climbing that hill with my Audi TT on Blizzaks while my neighbor with his H1 and big mud tires was sliding sideways down said hill. After I parked in my...

Cybertruck walk around, and size comparison to MY

+1 I swapped my Ram 1500 for the smaller R1T and couldn’t be happier. It fits in my garage without having to rearrange everything else; I can fit 2 large car seats for my granddaughters and accommodate an adult comfortably in the rear seat; and, it tows better than my Ram. Hard for me to...

Cybertruck Very Popular Topic On Rivian Forum

When I put in my reservation for a CyberTruck and a Rivian R1T I figured I’d take whichever came first. My R1T arrived June of 2022 so I’ve had it for over a year now. My main use is to pull my Airstream and the R1T has been exceptional at that. It’s a beast at towing yet its small form...

If only the Model X had a 110 outlet (like Ford & Rivian).......

As an R1T owner I’ve been subject to 3 of those recalls. Each of the 3 were resolved by a visit from a mobile tech and the longest required a ½ hour visit. I also own a Model S and service-wise I’d put Rivian in the same category as Tesla.

Will Cybertruck have backup trailer assist

Yeah, like @strider said, there’s a whole lot of middle ground here. To be fair, all trucks, ICE and EV, lose half their range when towing large trailers but with fuel stations on every corner ICE owners don’t care about the range drop. I routinely tow my 6000 lb Airstream with my R1T and I...

    Sudden stop with warning

Same thing happened to me with my S a few years back — had to limp off the freeway and drive to a service center. Turned out a faulty temperature sensor in one of the drive units was indicating an overheating unit.

    Model X Refresh Towing Example

Traded in my diesel Ram for an R1T to tow my 30’ Airstream and I could never go back. The quiet acceleration is a thing of beauty and it’s much more stable in a crosswind. My only complaint is the drop in range (~50%) but chargers are ubiquitous in this part of the world so it’s not really a...

If only the Model X had a 110 outlet (like Ford & Rivian).......

We use our R1T to power our Airstream while boondocking and, like @kizamybute', we can power everything but the A/C for days. But that doesn’t mean we‘d need it in the MX, we would drive the R1T if powering appliances was required.

    Launch is Imminent

And in the meantime I received calls from salespeople at least once a week saying they have a brand new model on the lot NOW and it’s almost exactly what I ordered — except for the color and trim package. I finally cancelled cuz I couldn’t take the harassment any longer.

Unless Elon is out there holding a gun to peoples head, it would more accurate to say Tesla manipulates prices in response to demand.

The current strength decreases when I use an extension cord.

It’s almost certainly caused by the length of the extension cord and that fact that it is only 12AWG. It would be pricey but you could try a 10AWG extension cord from Amazon: 10 AWG Extension Cord and see if that works any better.

Can cybertruck go over curbs / pot holes?

In our travels we’ve visited several cities where the side streets are so narrow that the local custom is to park with the passenger side wheels up on the curb to allow greater room for vehicles on the street. This is also the custom in Key West where you don’t want to block the curb gutters or...

Important lesson learned. Don't trust Tesla routing for Superchargers

Tesla can factor in elevation change but not wind or vehicle speed. What was your speed relative to the limit or flow of traffic? Did you have a headwind? I assume temperature wasn’t a factor since your drive was done recently. I also assume you weren’t pulling a trailer or have something...

    Launch is Imminent

I think that might have a lot to do with where you travel. Here in the PNW all the Rivian chargers are trailer-friendly, i.e. have a pull-thru stall. And quite by accident, I presume, many other chargers are planted near the back of parking lots where, if the lot isn’t busy, you can pull in...
  37. rhumbliner

    Launch is Imminent

I routinely tow my 6000 lbs Airstream around the PNW and you need to realize that there are 2 sides to the range coin: what’s my range and how far apart are the super (150kW or more) chargers. With super chargers every 100 miles or so and charge time around 20 min I have no problem with a...

    First Ever NACS Adapter

Cyber truck, Large windshield, Large amount of heat from Sun into cabin

Funny, when we lived in Vegas our rule was just the opposite — point directly into the sun because our reflective silver solar shade did a better job of keeping out the radiant heat than the rear window did.

    Powerwall 2.1 - Bend Oregon

Sorry, no. This Powerwall was a referral award and Tesla shipped an old version of the gateway with it. When I de-installed it in Vegas the installer said I might as well junk the gateway since it was no longer within code specs. Btw, the gateway is nothing more than a transfer switch.

    Lightning vs CyberTruck feature spreadsheet

This is slightly off-topic and probably shouldn’t be included in the feature list, but 3 huge factors for me are: 1) ability to buy online and avoid a dealership — I hate those guys; 2) the Tesla charging network — makes up for a a lot of shortcomings in the vehicle itself; 3) mobile service —...
