    Now this is challenging!

This has turned into a more interesting thread than I thought ;) I haven't got time to try everything you guys suggested yet. I still have time as I remember it will expire by end of year. Thanks for all your inputs!

    Now this is challenging!

As shown in the pic, I had a gift card slipped into that tight gap in the center console. Any idea how to remove the cover without damaging it?

    Ski rack for X finally

You can take a look at the model x spec. The width is at 89'' so I would think you can safely put on skis up to that length. If your skis are really tall, you should try mounting one rack on the front windshield and the other on the rear hatch.

    Ski rack for X finally

I have looked at these various solutions. Although I have both hitch and bike rack, I just feel it is too time consuming to set it up each time :-)

    Ski rack for X finally

@Jeeps17 Nothing prevents somebody from taking the full rack away (the same applies to other kind of racks). The ski holder lock is mainly for securing the skis and preventing the rack from accidentally popping up. The ski site I usually go to is pretty safe. So I tend to leave my rack on the...

    Ski rack for X finally

Yes, I have tried it. The skis are actually pretty high up so there is no touching of the bindings on the glass, whether you set it up with the spoiler or not. If I am in the driver seat, I can't see the skis from the hatch window. No obstruction of my rear view either. Some basic info I got...

    Ski rack for X finally

Yes, mine is a fixed spoiler. I would not recommend mounting on an active spoiler as the racks are not that flexible :) But you can do what I did by mounting the racks on the glass only. You can always adjust the angles of the racks to avoid tucking the cups under the spoiler.

    Ski rack for X finally

Nice box! One the range, it is not really noticeable to me. Maybe it is because the whole setup is in the back.

    Ski rack for X finally

Mine is at 60'' (I am short) and I could hardly see them in the side mirrors. You might want to measure yours and choose a different setup if needed.

    Ski rack for X finally

I didn't bother to look at the data because honestly I didn't feel much impact at all. I was driving at the 70MPH rated speed most of the time.

    Ski rack for X finally

Was able to get it to work on the rear window so both my FWDs can open freely, as well as the hatchback. Setup is straightforward. And the low profile of the overall vehicle does help too - very easy to load and unload skis. I have tried different setups too, such as one rack on the spoiler and...

    Seasucker ski rack-use and experience?

I got the dimensions info from seasucker: Length (outside cup to outside cup) 33" Total Height 9" Clearance height 6.75" Our cups are 6" in diameter, so the width of the rack is technically 6" It can be mounted similar to this: Don't think you can mount it on the back window only (not enough...

    Driving in icy/snow condition

Sure, if you drive in snow regularly, for safety, snow tire is the way to go. However, my original point is if you occasionally drive in snow, with all season tires, comparing to the typical AWD ICEs with all season tires, Tesla isn't doing any better if not worse (and to my experience, it is...

    Driving in icy/snow condition

For people yelling "get your snow tires", sorry "shut up" :) I have lived in some heavily snow places for years and I wasn't told to get my snow tires for my ICE cars before. If that's because it is a Tesla, that's ridiculous! Now I live in a place that hardly ever snows. So having all season...

    Driving in icy/snow condition

I think you hit some very good points, especially this: As I recall the chain of events/reactions was: Semi in front of me slowing down. Note we were driving at around 20-25MPH, so maybe the semi was about 1-2 car in distance. I lifted my foot off "gas" pedal and moved to the brake pedal...

    Driving in icy/snow condition

Road condition at the time (see attached). If you look closer, there's one semi that's turned over on the side, and the other one was jackknifing blocking both lanes. Luckily the highway folks showed up - chained up the blocking semi and got it out of the way.

    Driving in icy/snow condition

With today's experience, it feels like X is far from a dependable/safe vehicle for snow. Its handling in snow is much worse than the AWD ICEs I have driven. Tesla needs to address this.

    Driving in icy/snow condition

Hmm...looks like Tesla would need to address this with regen braking. This is super scary! Tesla was the only car (SUV) experiencing "loss of control" at the time when this happened (all the ICE cars around me were OK, except for one semi that was jackknifing), quite embarrassing to be honest. I...

    Driving in icy/snow condition

I was driving through Grants Pass(Oregon) on I-5 today. Very snowy road condition. The semi in front of me started slowing down so I hit the brake. To my surprise, the X started skidding (I felt it was sliding toward the left line where there was another semi passing by), which actually scared...

    V8.0 rant

Agreed with #1 and #3. My FWDs now don't open fully like it used to in my garage. V8 should be renamed 7.01.

"Ghost Car" problem with auto-pilot. Anybody else?

I have had a similar sudden slow-down happen when I was using TACC and at an T intersection. And I don't believe there was a ghost car causing this. Anyway, I don't think anyone should use auto steering at all unless we see a good improvement in 8.0. And you need to be very cautious when using...

To Buy & Sell, To Cancel or To Hope and Pray for the Best

Anyone interested in picking up my reservation as I am thinking of canceling. Mine is 70D and probably the first few in the queue for production 70D.
