I find it absolutely crazy that the car can't detect a large metal object in the middle of the lane and plows right into it at full speed. This could have been a stopped car, a piece of large debris, etc.

I get that, but my original post was about passing on the highway, which assumes constant cruising speed (and trucks have a lower legal speed limit). Once you start passing you probably don't expect that the semi can speed up like a sports car, same as you.

Ugh. Imagine trying to pass a semi on a highway and it keeps up with you. Performance on a semi is nice, but it can easily be abused and will be intimidating to everybody around.
