    Giga Berlin Battery Production

Hi, At Battery Day, Elon confirmed that Giga Berlin will produce batteries. That raised some questions: When? Will they first batch of MYs have locally produced batteries? Which of the five innovations the cells have? Perhaps iron based, but use the 4680 form factor and some of the other...

    Tow Hitch?

I will not take delivery until the tow hitch is confirmed by Tesla.

Will all Ys for Europe be produced in Europe?

Hi, During the Q3 call, Elon said that the location of Gigafactory Europe will be announced before end of 2019. Given the speed ot Gigafactory Shanghai, could Tesla have GF Europe up and running in a year? In that case, Tesla cold decide to produce all Ys for Europe in Europe, as the Y is...

    In the wild

Looks good. I may change my gray order to blue. What’s up with those low red lights/reflectors? Also, note the tow hitch cover. Daniel

    Price and configuration changes

Hi, Let's keep track of price and configurations. So far, Tesla increased the price late March as part of the general 3% increase. Tesla raises Model Y prices by $1k, will raise inventory car prices April 2 I ordered before the increase and the original price seems to be locked in on my...

    Sloped roof and drag

Hi, Is the aggressively sloped roof really that important to reduce drag or is it more a design choice? I would have preferred less slope and more cargo space. Daniel

    Mid-range AWD would be sweet!

    Model Y Cargo Space (poll)

I never imagined that it would have seven seats! The poll numbers was intended for five seats. So, we don’t yet know the cargo space for the five seats version. Guess it will be a while. Daniel

What might Musk be hinting at?

When Elon said that they will not put 2170 cells in the S and X and added a “can’t comment on future products”, I immediately thought next gen S and X. The current S and X are complicated and expensive to make. Tesla have leaned a lot about efficient manufacturing over the last couple of...

Model Y Desired Features and Options

I would really appreciate a cargo barrier solution. It’s crucial for safety when the trunk is loaded above the rear seats. Attachment points would be OK, but some kind of integrated roll up net would be ideal.

    Model Y Cargo Space (poll)

Note that Elon is now referring to Model Y is a “midsize SUV”. Back in the Master Plan Part Deux, it was a “compact SUV”.

Consolidated Model Y News from Q4 Earnings

In exterior dimensions, Model 3 is larger then both Q5 and X3. So, it’s certainly possible that it will have more passenger and cargo space.

Consolidated Model Y News from Q4 Earnings

Interesting that he’s now referring to it as “midsize SUV”. In the master plan he wrote “compact SUV”. More cargo space?

    Model Y Cargo Space (poll)

Correction: the Outlander PHEV has 30.4 cu (SAE) of cargo space. So, anything above that will be enough for me.

    Model Y Cargo Space (poll)

Total Cargo Space = trunk (with all seats used) + frunk

    Model Y Cargo Space (poll)

Hi, I'm waiting eagerly for the Model Y, but cargo space is really the deciding factor. Currently driving an Outlander PHEV, which has some 34 cu ft of cargo space. Anything less than that would be too small for a family of four (and also a hard sell to my wife). We are probably typical...

[Poll] - Will you buy Model Y if it has Falcon Wing door?

A comment on the last point. My plan is to replace our 2015 Outlander PHEV with the Model Y, but without the possibility for a roof box it just won't fit our needs. As an active family of four, we make roadtrips with a lot of sporting gear (skis, surfboards etc). I think many peope have the...

[Poll] - Will you buy Model Y if it has Falcon Wing door?

I don't think the Y will have FWD. My top three reasons: 1. Without a third row, it's not needed (for easy entry) 2. Keep cost/price down. 3. FWD prevents a roof box, which is very much needed for a midsize SUV Daniel

Model Y to be based on Model 3 after all

OK, seems like the 88.1 cu ft for the Model X is with all the seats down. We should compare the Model X cargo space for the five seat version with all seats up. But, I could not find that online. Anyone know? Anyway, the RAV4 38.4 cu ft is the number to beat, which should be possible with a...

When will the Model Y be unveiled (poll)?

Perhaps time to for an updated poll. I guessing spring of 2018. Tesla should be out of Model 3 production hell by then.

Model Y to be based on Model 3 after all

I think (and hope) that the Model Y will be more like the BMW X3, with higher gound clearance and a more upright seating postiion. In the Master Plan, Tesla called it a "compact SUV". Too me, a GT-style Model Y is too close to the Model 3 for Tesla (that does not have an X3 sized car). Looking...
