    Creaky/squeaky suspension in 2019 Model X

Thanks, all. I will contact Tesla service and see what they say.

    Creaky/squeaky suspension in 2019 Model X

My Model X sounds like an old man! Very loud creaking/squeaking at slower speeds, over speed bumps, or any texture in the road where the suspension engages. It also makes that noise when turning the steering wheel. This started happening about two weeks ago. I assume I need to take it into...

    Steering wheel heat stopped working

Yes, it was that single part that affects the horn, steering wheel heater, and windshield wiper heater. Sorry, I'm not sure what the part # is.

My MX smells like something died in it

Thanks! Just ordered a 3-pack. Fingers crossed.

My MX smells like something died in it

Update on the smell issue. We think a mouse made a nest in the frunk, and then we found it dead underneath the MX. But we can't seem to get rid of the smell completely. Tesla mobile service replaced the air filter because I thought that might help, but I didn't notice a difference. It's way...

My MX smells like something died in it

Oh, my. I had checked the frunk before, but not thoroughly. I just looked again, and we did find some kind of next in there. Not sure from what animal, and there's no animal in there now, but mystery solved.

My MX smells like something died in it

Yeah. I had an MS before and an MX now for almost 3 years. Not re-ordering, because I've had a lot of issues with the MX and the service department in Salt Lake City is a joke. I have a Rivian R1S coming next year. Ready to try something new.

My MX smells like something died in it

Interesting. In our case, the smell was very sudden, which makes me think this isn't the issue. Did yours come on gradually?

My MX smells like something died in it

My wife drove the MX to a rural location about a month ago. When she came back to the vehicle and got in (after being gone for about 5 hours), it smelled horrible. Hard to describe, but it was somewhere between rotten food and a dead animal. Yet there was no food in the MX, and even if a small...

My MX is ready 6 months early—what now?

Thanks. I checked and it does seem that’s an option. I guess I’ll find out how much it would cost to purchase the MX and what I could sell it for used, and then decide if it’s worth doing that vs just terminating the lease.
  12. B

My MX is ready 6 months early—what now?

Thanks! Do you mean get a buyer before buying out the lease? And then take them to the DMV so that the title is transferred directly to them from Tesla instead of from Tesla to me and then from me to them? Curious, how long did you have your MX? Amazing you were able to sell for a profit after...

My MX is ready 6 months early—what now?

I have a MX with 6 months more on the lease. Given supply chain issues, I ordered a new MX (Plaid) about 2-3 months ago to make sure I had the new one before my current MX lease expires. The original delivery window I was given was Oct-Dec. But I just got a text asking me to schedule delivery...

Poor windshield wiper performance in winter

I need to do a mixture of OCNR and -20F wiper fluid that will not freeze down to -5F. You said a 1:1 ratio would freeze at 6F, which makes sense, but also that calculating the freezing point of different dilution ratios is more complex. What ratio would I need to keep it safe down to -5F?

    Steering wheel heat stopped working

I'm not sure what it's called, but the service tech said it's a single part that affects the horn, steering wheel heater, and windshield wiper heater. They are finally coming to replace it on Friday after more than a month and numerous calls.

Dangerously bad windshield wiper performance in snow/icy conditions

Tesla came and replaced the wiper arms yesterday. We're going through an unusually warm and dry spell here in the mountains of Utah, so I haven't had a chance to test it in really bad conditions. But I can already tell, just from cleaning the windshield with the wiper fluid, that it is much...

Dangerously bad windshield wiper performance in snow/icy conditions

I'm still waiting for Tesla Mobile Service to come replace the wiper arms (the full arms, not just the blades). I ordered and received the PIAA Si-Tech Wiper Blade Kit, but haven't installed them yet because I want Tesla to replace the arms first. I'll keep you posted.

Wait time for new X is >1 year, but lease is coming up...

Yeah, saw that. I've decided not to get another Tesla, at least for now. I ordered a Rivian R1S. Might end up having similar issues, but I'm ready for a change and there are some things I like about it better than the MX.

Poor windshield wiper performance in winter

Ok, that makes sense. One more clarifying question. Is "washer fluid anti-freeze" different than just regular washer fluid that has anti-freeze in it, rated down to -20F? Like this? Or are we talking about mixing OCNR 1:1 (or maybe 1.25:1 in my case) with this regular washer fluid that has...

Poor windshield wiper performance in winter

Sorry, I'm new to this. What does "diluting down to 10F" mean? What ratio of OCNR to washer fluid anti-freeze would that be? I probably need to go down to 0F to be safe, so how would I do that?
  21. B

Poor windshield wiper performance in winter

So the best bet would be to mix regular blue -20 F fluid (which I have) and the Opti-Coat No Rinse, maybe 50/50.

Dangerously bad windshield wiper performance in snow/icy conditions

Awesome, glad to hear. Are these easy to install? I'm wondering about the wiper fluid hose/attachment and/or the heaters. Thanks.
  23. B

Poor windshield wiper performance in winter

I would like to try the Opti-Coat No Rinse, but I'm in a winter climate. You mentioned adding anti-freeze somewhere. What kind of anti-freeze?
  24. B

Dangerously bad windshield wiper performance in snow/icy conditions

I should. have included more info in the original post. I've had Tesla service look at this twice. The first time, they acknowledged that the wiper blades weren't making proper contact with the windshield, and they adjusted the wiper arms. They also replaced the blades. It was a bit better after...

Wait time for new X is >1 year, but lease is coming up...

I agree. What might change this is companies like Rivian entering the space, and established auto manufacturers committing more deeply to 100% EVs. Until then, Tesla has people over a barrel.

Wait time for new X is >1 year, but lease is coming up...

I've decided to move on too, but mostly because of the terrible service. I have a Rivian R1S on order to replace the Model X. And I just ordered a Porsche Cayenne e-Hybrid to replace our Range Rover Sport. It will likely take just as long to get my Cayenne as it would to get a Model X, but the...

    Steering wheel heat stopped working

In my case it's not working at all. They did a diagnostic and found that the part is broken, so Mobile Service is replacing it.

    Windshield Wipers in Winter

I keep telling them that. Last year, they at least tried to adjust the tension. This time, they didn't even bother. They insisted that it was just the blades, despite the fact that this has been a persistent issue and they'd already tried to fix it in the past. I am so frustrated with Tesla service.
  29. B

    Windshield Wipers in Winter

Thanks. In my case, I don't think cleaning the blades will help, because I had the same issue even on the way home from the service center just after they had replaced the blades: You can see how it is not cleaning a certain area about 6-8 inches wide. The rest of the windshield tends to be...

    Wiper blades : Recommendation please

Yes, that's what should happen. And I may go that route. But at this point, given the strength of the used car market, it might be easier and more beneficial to me to buy out the lease and trade it in for a new car or sell it on the private market. The car is worth about $20k more than what I'd...

    Windshield Wipers in Winter

Which aftermarket blades did you get for your Tesla? I found this PIAA Si-Tech Wiper Blade Kit for the Model S. I contacted them and they said they will work with the Model X as well—I didn't realize the blades for the S and X are the same specs. I'm going to try it and see if it helps. At...

    Wiper blades : Recommendation please

Just wondering if anyone has found a workaround for the extremely poor wiper performance in snow/ice. I posted about this in another thread, but long story short, it is so bad that if we cant find a solution we're going to buy out our lease and sell the car. I've taken it into service twice for...

Any experience with aftermarket wiper blades?

I'm having issues with my windshield wiper performance, described in another thread, that Tesla cannot resolve. It is dangerous to drive our MX in snow/ice conditions as a result, and given that we live in the mountains in Utah, that's a deal-breaker. The last thing for me to try is...

    Anyone else sick of "service"?

This is my second Tesla. I love driving them. And for a while, I was willing to look past the service issues and many other things like an interior that is far less luxurious and functional than even a $40k car. At this point, I'm no longer willing to make those compromises. I'll be buying out...

Dangerously bad windshield wiper performance in snow/icy conditions

Thanks for your reply. I don't know if I'm happy or sad to hear that it's not just my vehicle. The fact that this is an issue for MXs in general means that my problem is unlikely to be solved. Here's a video of the windshield as I was driving down to Tesla service. It's flat-out dangerous, and...

    Anyone else sick of "service"?

Tesla service has become a sick joke. As others have pointed out, it was amazing to begin with. I had a Model S from 2016-2019, and during the first couple of years, I felt like it was the best service I'd had from any previous manufacturer. Now I have a Model X, and if Tesla service doesn't...

Dangerously bad windshield wiper performance in snow/icy conditions

I'm in my second winter with my MX here in the mountains of Utah. We've had constant issues with our windshield wipers. When it rains, they don't clear the windshield. And the "rain-sensing" modes, where it's supposed to sense how much moisture is on the windshield and adjust the frequency...

    Steering wheel heat stopped working

I just tried all of the various resets (including Power Off > Brake to restart) and nothing worked. Must be a hardware issue. Thanks.

    Steering wheel heat stopped working

Yeah, it shows as on in the app. Mobile service already sent me a document showing that they are planning to replace the fuse or sensor or whatever. It's only a week out so I'm fine with waiting.

    Steering wheel heat stopped working

About a week ago my steering wheel stopped heating up. It's still cold 30 minutes after turning it on. I scheduled a mobile service appointment, but just thought I'd check here to see if there's anything else I can do in the meantime.

Any update on this? It's actually a deal-breaker for me. I won't order another Tesla until I know I can lock out the rear screen.

Question about entertainment screen in back seat of refreshed MX

Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the rear screen in the refreshed MX? I don't want my kids glued to the screen and playing games every time they're in the car.

Wait time for new X is >1 year, but lease is coming up...

That's a good point. In fact, a friend of mine just told me yesterday that she sold her MX for $10k more than she bought it for new a year ago—which seems crazy! I guess there are enough people that want a Tesla/MX and are willing to pay a premium rather than wait a year.

Wait time for new X is >1 year, but lease is coming up...

My lease comes up in December of 2022. I'd like to upgrade to a new MX, but when I checked on delivery times just now, it says January 2023. Can I order a new one now, in the hope that there won't be too much of a gap between when my lease ends (12/20 I think) and when I get the new MX? Would...

How do I link a phone to a driver profile?

I think between the Apple Accessibility setting and setting my wife's phone to priority, we've solved the problem. Thanks!

How do I link a phone to a driver profile?

Makes sense. The reason I was asking about this is that I'm having an issue where calls get switched from my phone (in the house) to the MX when my wife gets in the car and drives out of the garage. On the Apple forums, someone suggested a setting in Accessibility that would prevent that from...
