Tesla Vehicles now importable to Canada!!

I own a 2016 Model S w/ rear facing seats. Needless to say since there is no rear facing seat option yet with the current model S I am hesitant to part with it. Anyway I moved to Canada last year on a work permit and the vehicle was on a temporary import to BC. They made me surrender my...

No more rear facing jump seats....

Last year I drove my model S from San Francisco to Vancouver, and separately from San Francisco to San Diego. I have a hard time imagining that trip in any other EV for at least the next five years until standardized charging infrastructure catches up. Then we’ll have to see what the reliability...

Desperate cry from customer moving to Canada – Note to Tesla, Inc.

I think the problem is that it can’t be registered and insured in Canada. My understand is that you can import a Canadian Model S to the states so if you are thinking of relocating to Canada at all then it would be better to purchase in Canada in the first place.

No more rear facing jump seats....

I agree, I though they wanted people to buy the model s because of its higher profit margin. Now it has the same number of seats as the 3. I wanted to buy a new ap 2 model S, but along with this and the lack of roof rack ability I guess I will just wait for another year or two before I look...

Don't want heater on, want vent

+1 to this. Previously before the Klamath falls supercharger was open and I was driving in the winter I could only make it to the next charger with the heat off. But it was cold and snowy outside and the windows kept fogging up with the climate control off. I wouldn’t have minded some waste heat...

    Powerwall 2: Technical

By the way, at least when I tried back in June, the Tesla gateway was unable to recognize the neur.io when connected via a wifi extender. Possibly it is recognizing the neur.io connection via the wifi clients list instead of the dhcp lease table. The other possibility would be if the gateway...

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

Hi, sorry I didn't see your message earlier. There is no way to do time of use load shifting with the Powerwall currently if you don't have solar until they update the software, short of manually throwing your main breaker. There are no options in the UI at all for controlling the Powerwall...

    Powerwall 2: Technical

I ran a test and it seemed that after some time when the powerwall had discharged some, the solar was reactivated and the UPS changed back to online. I think this was around 90% but I wasn't monitoring the SoC closely. I'm mainly using the UPS to provide a soft shutdown on my NAS, but of course...

    Powerwall 2: Technical

If anyone has an UPS battery backup devices, they might be interested to know that these will likely not work how you would expect with the Powerwall. Apparently the Powerwall and other generates create a somewhat noisy AC signal, and UPSes interpret this as a power problem, immediately...

    PowerWall and switchgear API's

I have commissioned and uncommissioned my unit half a dozen times without a problem. I think the worst thing is you unconfigure the networking, but then it defaults to creating its own captive Powerwall wifi network which you can connect to and recommission the unit. I think anyone with a...

    PowerWall and switchgear API's

That is what I was suggesting. You could also just use Chrome to inject some code into the page. Sorry I didn't see that you were using curl instead of intercepting the communications using the Chrome developer tools (which might be easier since you won't have to deal with other network packets...

    PowerWall and switchgear API's

Regarding the "User does not have adequate access rights," I looked at the source code for the landing page on the provisioning wizard. It references two js files one of which (on my system anyway) is at /app.94070648a056d37c80dc.js This one references...

Does anyone know how the stalls here are paired? Only half of them seem to be labeled.

    Powerwall 2: Technical

This is the sign in for commissioning/uncommissioning your unit. You can enter any e-mail address here. The password is your serial number for the gateway. Note if you log in here and continue your unit will become uncommissioned and you will have to go through the entire wizard to commission it...

    Powerwall 2: Technical

Sorry I forgot that if you aren't paying close attention or have opened up your electrical panel, you wouldn't have seen these. The way the powerwall knows the power consumption of the home and the amount of power generated by the panels versus internal consumption is by two clamp power monitors...

    Powerwall 2: Technical

The electrical inspection happened a few days ago, and the inspector was not happy with the standard ethernet cable being run in the same conduit as the electrical. The inspector said it was supposed to be 600V rated cable (i.e., not the standard type) to be up to code. He did end up signing off...

Leather gone? All interior options vegan?

I really wish they would just offer alcantara seating surfaces like other premium car companies, which happen also to be vegan and made partially from recycled material.

    Powerwall 2: Installation

On my install three electricians showed up but then two more electricians showed up later (possibly after they realized it was going to take over a day if they didn't have more people. They sent someone by later and so my system is now commissioned. However someone still need to come by as the...

100 days or free for Australia.... any update?

Part of the problem is that the US which use to be a natural gas importer overbuilt shale gas extraction during the last boom. They are now overcapacity, and my understanding is that these natural gas sources loose money but that they loose less money operating compared to being shut down.

Upgrading House Electrical Panel to 200-Amp - Considerations

200A is a good call, with a 125A you could be limited depending on the size of your solar installation and your car charger current. If you didn't know, the panel limit must be large enough to handle the total current flowing through the main breaker + solar generation both of which are current...

    Powerwall 2: Installation

I forgot to mention that when I asked the installers, if I remember correctly they said there were 200-300 total installed currently. The team that installed mine said this was their 15th powerwall install, but their first dual powerwall install.

    Powerwall 2: Installation

SolarCity just finished my 2x powerwall install. They initially thought it was going to take two days after first showing up, but some more people showed up and they had a team of five people working and completed it by 4:30 pm, after they showed up at 9 am. I was a little surprised they didn't...

Help me understand Powerwall2 use case

I wonder what happens to peak rate pricing in the future. Already this spring before A/C systems were needed during the summer time there were times when apparently due to solar power production the wholesale energy price went negative (California’s Rising Solar Generation Coincides With...

    Supercharger - Klamath Falls, OR

I did a range charge at Shasta, drove the speed limit with heat off (40 degrees outside) and arrived at Bend SC with 10% left in my 90D. Note you can always use Sunriver as a backup, it has two destination chargers @ 80A. I'm not sure about the way back though, since it was snowing and 30 mph...

    Supercharger - Klamath Falls, OR

Yeah the speed limit got changed to 65 now, although I almost wish it would be 55 so I could get more range. I wonder with large ev penetration how many people will want to speed in a 70 mph zone in the California side going uphill. I did consider stopping at the running Y which is about 25...

    Supercharger - Klamath Falls, OR

It's possible there had been trench work done when I went by there, snow was covering everything so it wouldn't have been visible. I really needed that supercharger on the way back to Shasta though, heavy rain + slush on the ground + 30 mph winds meant I was driving 50 mph on the last leg to...

    Supercharger - Klamath Falls, OR

The address seems to be near their gas station on the corner of the lot. But I drove around the fairly full parking lot and didn't see any evidence of construction. Not even a large power cabinet. Maybe they're waiting until the snow melts, it was 27 degrees out around noon.

    Supercharger - Klamath Falls, OR

I'll be driving through there on the way to Bend at the beginning of next week, so I'll use some of my valuable electrons to take some photos instead of turning up the heat!

    Supercharger - Klamath Falls, OR

Oh man, I am driving San Francisco to Bend at the end of January and then back a week later. This could save me several hours. But it seems unlikely to be completed by then given the intervening holidays.

    Tesla weather guard floor mats

Did anyone have any success in talking to anyone from Tesla regarding these? My local service center said that this fit is normal, and they said they checked my mat with a pre-refreshed model and it fit the same. It's hard to believe the mats have such a funky fit. But these photos I found from...

Insurance co's OBDII "big brother" device not seeing any driving data

I have the same situation with a Model S and Metromile also turned out to be the cheapest. I haven't had any problems with battery drain even with my previous vehicle (a 2012 Audi A4 that has some sort of "power management"), even when I didn't drive the vehicle for two months. I should add that...

Tesla in Pasadena Accident: Driver Fled

If Tesla did the security right then the onboard computer will measure the time the signal was sent from the car and when the authenticate response is sent back, and if it exceeds a certain time limit then it will get disallowed. The remote unlocking actually happened to me and a neighbor a few...

Rear facing seats increased price, now $4000

Maybe it's due to decreased volume, meaning they get less of a discount on parts purchases. When I visited the showroom they only had one loaner Model S out in the parking lot that had the jump seats. If it had gotten loaned out then they wouldn't even be able to demo them to anybody. As for...

    Insurance On Model S?

I live in San Francisco too, and I know it's a little hard to compare since it's based on miles driven but with Metromile I am paying $52.80/month plus $0.076/mile. Also they only do car insurance so you might not save money if you currently get a multi line discount elsewhere. In my case it...

    Tesla weather guard floor mats

Yes the Tesla rebranded ones. The curling is because they really fit properly into the shape of the trunk (and to a lesser degree the rear seat) area.

    Tesla weather guard floor mats

I have the refreshed Model S as well. My front ones fit ok, the rear passenger one is marginally ok after I toyed with it a bit tucking it under the front seat rails. The rear cargo one fits horribly, I kind of wonder if maybe the rubber mats were designed to fit the non refreshed model S and...
