    IC display I can't explain...

It is just some persistence from the charge percentage display, happens with static images on LCDs but goes away after a while. Definitely not burn in.

Mid ‘16 Model S- Emergency Breaking?

No, it will not stop the car, the manual states that Automatic Emergency Braking will only "minimize the impact of a frontal collision by attempting to reduce your driving speed". This happens after the Forward Collision Warning has gone off and no action is taken.

    Loss of all sensors

Yeah, this happens on occasion with the AP2(.5) system. Seems the autopilot computer crashes and takes a while to reset. I had this happen a few times back in June but later updates have improved it and haven't seen it happen in the past 3 months or so.

    Battery Degradation?

Strange, I am also stuck in the 282 at 100% club. Just did a 600 mile round trip and barely made a 200 mile stretch between chargers (100%-3%) due to a slight headwind, rain, cold, and the reduced capacity. Granted on the way back I had a tailwind (but still rainy and cold) and managed to...

    Charge Port issue

Hard to tell when they last updated the charge port firmware (they touch a lot of modules in most updates) and when that charge port was taken out of service, but it could have been any minor update causing the mismatch. Interesting part though, if you let it perform a scheduled update with the...

    Charge Port issue

The firmware version for the replacement charge port likely differed from what the car expected causing the errors. Redeploying the firmware would probably fix it. Sadly there is no official user accessible way to do that. Only the service center can do it or you can try hacking (rooting)...

    Version 9 on AP1

You share a location from your phone and the car will handle routing. So just put a pin on your destination, then you can share to the Tesla app.

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

I just received 2018.39.6 on my AP1 Model S. It has the new UI for the center display, media control from the app, obstacle aware acceleration, Atari games, and minor improvements/fixes according to the release notes.

    Clicking noise during hard acceleration

Yes, I would mention this to the service center. They should be able to validate with a test drive. I had mine replaced ~15k miles ago and they are still quiet.
  11. Skysurfer

    Clicking noise during hard acceleration

Usually it is the CV joints in the front half-shafts which start making noise under hard acceleration. Bjorn Nyland made a good video demonstrating the issue. His is a fairly extreme example given the suspension settings induce a higher drive line angle with the Model X and the joints are...

Disable stability control without disabling ABS?

That was for his Lotus project which he grafted a Model S motor into.
  13. Skysurfer

I thought we had antilock brakes

I think that is the most likely scenario. The event probably happened on or near those marks and they were mistaken for ones left by their vehicle. Curious to see what the service center says though.
  14. Skysurfer

I thought we had antilock brakes

Yes, the Model 3 certainly has ABS. Haven't needed to do a full panic stop but have had the ABS kick in when one wheel hit a patch of gravel. What is with the burn out picture in the right lane?

Durability of generic Carbon Fiber spoiler?

This is how the factory spoiler is positioned on my vehicle.

Is the nag now 15 seconds!

Torque from the steering wheel is used to detect if hands are on the wheel, with hands at 10 and 2 they will be fairly balanced and therefor not reliably detected. One hand sitting on the wheel is typically enough to be detected and keep the nags at bay. I usually find resting a hand at the...

    Blended Brakes, yes or no?

The system is simple, when you lift completely off the accelerator it goes to full regen. Pressing the brake just adds friction braking on top of the regen braking. This makes the braking feel very consistent.

    Good news posts...

Picked up a Model 3 on the 5th with zero issues and good panel gaps, coming up on 1000 miles with it this week. Have 48,000 miles on the Model S now which only had a few minor issues during that time (12 volt battery warning, flakey autodimming mirror) handled by rangers and the rest just...

Failed range calculation left me stranded

As lithium batteries age their internal resistance increases, which in turn reduces the amount of current which can be drawn from the batteries for a given voltage level. The battery pack has hard cut off limits for the voltage ranges, so to try preventing an early trip of the lower cut off...

Model 3 vs model S autopilot

Right now I would say AP2(.5) in my Model 3 is slightly better than my AP1 Model S. Steering is more confident, braking is earlier/smoother, and lane acquisition faster. Only things really lacking are the display of other vehicle types, vehicles in adjacent lanes, and reading of speed limit...

    Autopilot vs FRUITS!!

That is exactly how you are supposed to use it, with your hand resting on the wheel ready to take over if necessary. Having survived the last 50,000 miles on my vehicle, with about 35,000 of that on autopilot, I can tell you it is no issue at all to rest your hand on the wheel. Some other...

Electrical field in and around car

Do you ever put the card in the arm rest cup holders? There is an inductive coil which activates the key fob if it's battery is dead, I wonder if that could be causing an issue with card circuitry.

    Phantom Window

I something similar happen a few weeks ago after an update, I came out to the car and noticed the rear passenger window was down part way. Finally figured out that each time the rear passenger door was opened the window would drop down like normal but it would not go back up once the door was...

Blackvue 750 causing 12V battery warning?

They do produce a fair bit of heat but I think most of that is from the processor doing motion detection and storage from two video signals, which is a fairly intensive task, not so much from the power regulation. They connect right to the vehicle 12v.

Tesla Forcing Slacker to Stream in Low Quality?

There used to be an option for "Use High Bitrate" under the login field in the car interface but that was removed ~6 months ago or so and everyone has been forced to the regular, low quality, bitrate. From my understanding it is, at least partially, a technical thing with the placement of the...

    Help a rookie understand Supercharging.

In the early days the voltage and current used to be displayed while supercharging, however sometime during the 7.x updates that was changed to just show kW. The maximum battery charge voltage depends some on the battery capacity but they will all be between 350-400 volts. So a 85-100 kWh pack...

    Firmware 8.1 - Autopilot HW1

Weird, I had the nav unmute after the 2017.36 update as well. Didn't think anything of it at the time, figured I had hit it by accident or something, but I wonder if the update is actually the cause. I will keep an eye on it.

Notable change in 17.34 (folding mirror routines)

I think the best behavior would be to unfold when pressing on the brake pedal, that would save a lot of wear and tear along with giving some control as to when they started the unfolding process. The unfolding process would be right about the same length of time as the "bulb" check time for the...

Tesla NEMA 14-50 Adapter won't plug into NEMA-14-50R (receptacle)

If you are talking about getting a new UMC so you can keep one in the car, you are likely better off just getting the Wall Charger for the same price and swapping out the 14-50 outlet for the wall charger as it is a little more convenient for a fixed charging location. If you really just want a...

    Ludicrous Retrofit No Longer Available???

It does seem like they realized Ludicrous mode was too stressful on the powertrain (mostly the 90kWh packs) and have been trying to phase it out but removing it from CPO cars and no longer offering the option to upgrade. With that being said, this systematic purge of 85 and 90 Ludicrous cars...

    Ludicrous Retrofit No Longer Available???

I don't think it is related, they have been removing it from the non-P100D CPO cars since before the Arizona case, I thought it was shortly after the P100D was released when it started. Although, interestingly enough, they have 0 inventory cars and only 28 CPO listed at the moment. Of those 28...

Notable change in 17.34 (folding mirror routines)

Yeah, just got the update yesterday and this change is already annoying me. Went out to the garage and was squeezing by the car with the key in my pocket when the mirrors unfolded and I about got caught on it as I was going by. Certainly is an issue when parked in a tight location and having...

    Supercharger - Dows, IA

I charged there on the 24th. No issues, one other Model S was already there and left a few minutes after I plugged in. Plugshare has the supercharger listed strangely but the Tesla nav was fine other than missing the occupancy information.

Has there been any clarification on Supercharger throttling...

I've had a number of charging stalls lately which seem to throttle back to ~60kW after a minute or two. Usually just moving to the other stall pair has typically worked to get back up to 100-110kW rates, but I have informed Tesla each time of the problematic stall. I looked closely at the...
