    Politics - Quarantine Thread

It's not a political appointment. She IS an expert, and exactly the kind of person NHTSA needs advice from. She has a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Professorships at MIT and Duke, 20+ years of research in human-autonomous systems, many research papers on driving systems, Navy F-18 pilot, etc...

Dr. Mary (Missy) Louise Cummings should be opposed for NOT really being expert on FSD for cars

Totally agree. Arguing about benefits of cm resolution in LIDAR vs. Radar vs. Vision is not productive when there are much bigger autonomous driving problems to solve. There are a range of AI reasoning, machine learning, engineering, human factors, sociological, and regulatory issues that...

Dr. Mary (Missy) Louise Cummings should be opposed for NOT really being expert on FSD for cars

AI is't perfect (humans aren't either) and AI development is all about balancing trade-offs; Maximizing your hit rate (AI detects something that is there) and minimizing the false alarm rate (AI detects something that isn't really there). If you narrow the scope of the world you are modeling...

Dr. Mary (Missy) Louise Cummings should be opposed for NOT really being expert on FSD for cars

Yes, the brain has evolved for rapid multi sensory perception and reasoning based on what it takes in. An 8 year old also has the advantage of tens of thousands of hours of training through grounded experience. When a ball is coming at them, they have to duck, or catch it, or get hit by it...

Dr. Mary (Missy) Louise Cummings should be opposed for NOT really being expert on FSD for cars

My view, as an expert in AI and human-AI systems and an owner of two Teslas, is that Missy Cummings is correct and justified in her criticisms. Generally, Radar + Vision is going to be better than vision alone. Vision can do a lot, but multimodal redundant systems will be better. They also...

Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

I was part of the first wave and supposed to get the camera upgrade on the 24th, but they called me and said the parts had not come. Now I'm scheduled for December 7th. So yes, they can't yet handle the orders from the first wave.

    Electrician recommendationwanted, Boulder, CO area

I'm in Boulder and used Windward Electric (www.poweritupkeepiton.com). They are experienced with Tesla installs. The owner, Erik, was really good at explaining options for my install.

Any Colorado deliveries post factory reopen?

We picked ours up at Superior today. There were 3 or 4 people getting Ys at the same time and a truck pulling up with even more of them. The experience isn't totally "touchless". They leave the documents to sign in the car and give you time to read through them and check out everything...

Any Colorado deliveries post factory reopen?

That's good to know. I'm picking up my Midnight gray, black interior (VIN 13XXX) tomorrow at Superior Given the problems others have reported, I 'm going to do a very thorough look over before accepting.

Found my Model Y MVPA - No email or phone call

I'm a day one (hour one) reservation holder and haven't seen anything change in my account yet. On the other hand, I haven't felt a great need to push them since I've probably driven about 100 miles in the past 2.5 months.

My app still has my car status as "ready for pickup" even though service completed a week ago

Maybe it's actually telling you that you are "ready to buy a pickup" and it's pre-marketing for the pickup truck reveal on Nov. 21st. :)

    Key Fob responsiveness

To solve the problem with my dash cam (Blackvue), I found installing ferrite cores on the cords greatly helped improve the performance of the keys and my GPS.

Anyone know where one might get a charge in Cuba, NM?

I haven't driven through Cuba with an EV, and Plugshare makes it look like a charging desert. It looks like one option is Theresa's Beauty Salon & RV Park, Address: 6523 US-550, Cuba, NM 87013 Phone: (575) 289-3244

    GPS is off position

This happened to me after I installed a new Blackvue Camera. The issue seemed to be due to stray interference from the cable. I put some ferrite cores on the camera cable and it solved the problem.

Hail and roof repair in the Boulder/Denver area?

I went to Stuttgart Auto body in Englewood for my hail repair. There were a lot of parts that hard to be ordered which is the slow part (glass roof, windshield, molding, etc.). So it too several months to wait for the parts. I just drove the car until everything was ready and then took it...

Long Awaited Arrival Of Elon’s HPWC

Mine came about a month ago and this weekend I finally did the install as well. I did the same thing and converted the charger to running off of a NEMA 14-50 plug. I can then take the charger with me if I move and could also plug in a non-Tesla electric vehicle (if I choose to buy one)...

Hail and roof repair in the Boulder/Denver area?

On Sunday I ran into a hailstorm between Pueblo and Colorado Springs. It cracked the windshield and the back glass roof panel, along with ~40 good sized pockmarks across the body of my Model S. Colorado Coach in Boulder says they no longer work on Teslas due to the wait time for parts...

    GPS issues.

I had a similar problem with my GPS for a while. I traced it to interference from my Blackvue rear camera cord. I placed some ferrite cores on the cord and it cleared up the problem. Not sure if that's related to your issue, but it does sound like it could be an interference or connection...

    Supercharger - Boulder, CO

Wow. I don't believe there are a lot of companies that need an "Electric Vehicle Sales and Service Building" aside from Tesla. That would be very convenient. The location looks like it would be on page 2 of this doc: Block 4, lot 1. http://superiorcolorado.gov/home/showdocument?id=8090 The...

    Supercharger - Boulder, CO

I just did a look at the Monthly dump of Boulder construction permits. The permit for 10 stations was submitted on the 4th of January. While lots of other permits were approved, it looks like it hasn't been approved yet. Here's the data. CASE NUMBER PMT2018-00033 ADDRESS 1805 29TH ST...

    Supercharger - Boulder, CO

I've been keeping an eye out as well as I drive around Boulder and speculating on places. I've been thinking that the parking lot behind Amante coffee/Cafe Mexicali on Baseline right next to Route 36 would be really good. It's right near the highway, close to multiple food sources and somewhat...

Getting a response from the Denver service center?

Figured it out myself, but will post in case any of you go down this route. If you call the main tesla number and have it automatically transfer to the Denver service center, then it goes to a voicemail box that the Tesla Service center no longer has access to. So you need to call the direct...

Getting a response from the Denver service center?

My center display died two days ago and doesn't reboot. I've left four messages for the Denver service center over the past two days and they haven't called back. Anyone know how best to get them to respond, have experience with the average response time, or know if anyone is actually working...

    GPS acting up

I had the same problems with my GPS for a while. I finally narrowed it down to being interference from my Blackvue camera. When I unplugged the camera, the GPS locked on very quickly. I fixed it with a couple of ferrite cores on the wires. I'm not sure if it's relevant to your issue, but it...

Professional Dash Cam Installation in Metro Denver?

I did the installation myself and did the always on power from the microphone area. I haven't noticed any significant battery drain from the Blackvue camera, even if I leave the car at the airport for a week or so. I don't know how it affects the life of the 12v battery, though.

    Reducing Vampire Drain -From apps?

When I first got my Tesla in December I signed up for several apps. My vampire drain was on the order of 10-15 miles a day. Last month I changed the password and let my tokens expire. I'm now only using Teslafi and the Tesla app and my drain has gone down to 1-2 miles per day. Teslafi is...

New owners, any issues with side-view mirrors?

I have the same problem on a 3 week old 90D. I have been holding off talking with the SC with hope that a software update will do the fix. In the meantime, I either push the button multiple times or roll down the window to adjust with my hand.

    Mirror not folding out completely

I've had my S90D for only a week and it is been happening about half the time. I figured I'd wait a few weeks to see if it irons itself out or a software patch appears which fixes it. But then I'll call the service center to get it fixed.
