The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

My 2016 MX has had 2 replacements under warranty and 1 more when suspension was slightly damaged in an accident. All 3 were with the newer 1/2 shafts. In all 3 the shudder went away for a while and returned after 4 to 5,000 miles. Low suspension setting has always worked as solution. I now...

    Plugging in every day

I plug in every trday if the sun shines. It is cheaper to use my excess solar to charge than sell it to the electric company(GUS does not refund Power Cost penalties on buybacks). My X60D is 4&1/2 years old with 50k miles and still shows 190 miles. I do not understand why you would buy a...

I have a 2018 P75D, is there ever going to be retrofit option available for a long range battery?

I had a friend offer me a 95kwh battery for my 60kwh when he upgraded his to 100kwh. Tesla service said my suspension is not capable of properly handling the weight of the heavier battery and refused to do the swap.

    Model X: Average Wh/mile Tracker

I have an original X60D in the free white paint. Just crossed 50,000 miles at 49 months. Bye, bye warranty. You can imagine that I sometimes get range anxiety on trips. Used to! Not any more... switched to % mode on my displays and have never looked back. This way I always know how much juice...

Blog Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Software Deployed to ‘Careful Drivers’

I am betting this software will only be available in States where Tesla has worked in a Law permitting vehicles initiating their own commands.

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

Hey Seniors, This is not a problem. Buy a Model X. It is MUCH easier to get in and out, has a nice button for the glove box, a super roomy console and all kinds of setup options. Plus it is the safest vehicle you can find. Love my 2016 X60D, won't trade it till the Cybertruck comes out. Oh and...

    Thinking of selling....Oh My

I want to sell my 2016 Model X60D because it doesn't have enough cameras nor MCU power to upgrade to new software features. Still paying over $800 per month. Such is life!! I am holding out to trade it in on a Cybertruck.

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

I see trying to get new features with only the original 2016 cameras about the same as trying to shuffle playing cards wit NO THUMBS. Don't know what people expect but I like my Model X60D just the way it is.

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

This is the weirdest of the weird problem. I had the problem at about 11,000 miles and put my X60D in the shop. They contacted engineering and were told it was a design problem with no immediate solution known; please wait... CAlled me at about 19,000 miles and offered new design 1/2shafts...

    Model X 60D holdouts?

Stillageek, How would I know if I have AP1 or AP2 and my build date? I bought my X60D with Autopilot in September of 2016 (before 9/13) and have NOT upgraded to 75 kwh. My updates are current but I have not seen NoA active or offered, to my Knowledge.

    6 vs 7 seats, 2nd row movement

Latest Update (Feb 2019)--Something has changed (for the worse)

Autosteer and Autopilot all levels are still BETA Software. They are open invitations for Tesla to try and improve the product in mid-flight. Ideally, this would not be done with software so closely linked to the safety of the Model X driving situation. I am an avid but careful user of...

piece of plastic stuck in charger plug

Yup, happened to me. Tesla ranger spent 1+ hour shaking it loose. Ordered new HPWC afterwards.

Tesla X is not charging above 84%

Okay, so I looked into this with an Engineering friend and she said to check your Latitude reading. If your charging station is at or near the Arctic Circle you could be experiencing a negative gravity charging cycle. She described this as being similar to when a cruise ship crosses the...

Infinite Mile Battery Warranty [Now] Being Honored By Tesla [Issue Resolved]

I must have missed the reply about why a battery/drive train that had been replaced 3 times would not be pushing the probability of degradation and failure down the years. Certainly if the original battery had all of these miles on it the story would be different vis-a-vis degradation. Also the...

    "Cross-interference" between 2 garaged Teslas

Should absolutely NOT be a problem at a Supercharger. Any Tesla parked at a Supercharger should be there to charge, which requires an open port AND should move/leave when done charging. Simple!

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

Dear OP, I read all the posts on your problem and I really feel for your pain. Personally, I would have gone ballistic when the rude Service Manager refused to send the truck to pick it up, I would have gotten in the car which was drive-able and drove to that Service Center and dropped the key...

Considering an MX instead of Model 3 need advice

The decision to buy a Model X is an important lifestyle point: Model X is a far different vehicle from a Model S or a Model 3. Both are sedans, or sports cars if you like. The Model X is an SUV, almost a full size SUV. It is LARGER and HEAVIER than its little brothers and sisters. But it...

Two days with Model 3 impressions/review- This is not a mini model S

Nice thread for Model S owners to brag or blab about their older model Teslas. I am a very happy 2016 Model X AP1 owner. Model "X" is the flagship Tesla. IMO, and fulfills its mission for me every day. Quite simply, it is the nicest, safest, fastest SUV made today. I have owned nearly...

Tesla says 7-13 miles range loss per day is normal

I have a Sept 2016 X60D with 20,000 wonderful miles driven, mostly local here in Texas. Two observations to share: 1. Model X always uses more kwh to do everything than the old MS 60. Due to WEIGHT, Dual Motors, aerodynamics, etc. Did I mention weight? 2. Texas summer days are Hot, hot, hot...

    Model X 75D / 90D 0-60 mph acceleration video

So sorry, @Frogwheels my reply was an obviously unsuccessful attempt at humor. Often we Americans forget that metric measurement is normal to the rest of the world.

    Summon into trailer?

step 1: go to dollar store and buy 20-30 of the plastifoam "noodle" floaties. Summer is over and they are on clearance. step2: glue them around your trailer inside at 18" high and 24" high step3: back model x into garage step4: position trailer in front of Model X with ramp almost flat and...

    Model X 75D / 90D 0-60 mph acceleration video

The problem is that all your timings will be off by the extra milliseconds that it takes to convert to metric from: "one, one thousand, two , one thousand, three, one thousand, etc.

    Old farts reminiscing about computers

thanks for the memories, Tesla people. I am turning 69 this week and was suffering from memory gapitis. Reading your stories was a nostalgic therapeutic rush. Actually, I did NOT invent the internet, as is often rumored, but my friend Billy and I did convert a Sanders desk shaped keypunch...

Goodbye Federal $7,500 tax credit - no way it survives Trump/Senate/House

My Solar installer is not worried. He says the 30% Solar Power Income Tax Credit is solid through 2021 and tapers off after that. Tesla is getting closer to easy Solar charging which is worth more that the $7500 in the long run. The 30% credit is on all components of the system (even...
