Does the TeslaChip really do anything?

Yes that was us.. the lawsuit is resolved we won a judgement against them and continue to sell our product. Our product is much more than the TeslaChip in that we add fully integrated functionality (with additional dash tell-tales that do not exist on the vehicles in stock form) that...

    Sudden range nose-dive: Advice?

Nice gains, your issue could stem from putting it in storage mode that often. Many times that can create issues with the balancing. Personally, wouldn't use storage mode unless you plan on not driving it for 2 weeks or more.

Elon is probably in Thailand now proving that his submarine works. His next tweet will be a video of the sub in the cave

    Sudden range nose-dive: Advice?

Use the 110 plug and let it balance itself out. Typically you get higher rated ideal miles after using 110 vs the UMC

Since his wife is in the beauty industry perhaps that is what he meant by "pedo" guy a simple autocomplete mistake that should have read pedi guy (pedicure)

There is one objective advantage the 3 has over the S and X

Using the OP's theory the Tesla Roadster trumps even the Model 3 since it is even more minimalist than any modern EV ever in serial production.

Surprised there's no CCS support. Thoughts?

likely they will use mennekes for ac charging/supercharging only in EU- similar to model s

Huge Supercharger expansion planned in California in 2017 and beyond

It was the old nasa space shuttle facility but now redeveloped into a shopping center. Tesla was going to manufacture the S here before NUMMI became available Tesla near deal to build cars in Downey

    Is Al Gore A Hypocrite?

The hypocrisy (may be unpopular) is that Elon is a connoisseur of eating hamburgers and other meats which their consumption adds equal if not more to global warming than driving a dino powered car. For example, 50% of water in the US goes towards factory farmed animals + water...

    Is Al Gore A Hypocrite?

There are a lot of good vegan substitutes for your favorite foods. There was a study (have to google it) that came to the conclusion that half of greenhouse gasses are produced by factory farmed animals. That is pretty significant. Study: vegan diets healthier for planet, people than meat diets

    Speculation - New charging plug?

Tesla uses mennekes for dc charging in many markets, the combo plug is not required

    Is Al Gore A Hypocrite?

how come people conveniently leave out factory farming... it is one of the largest contributors to global warming
  22. P

    Speculation - New charging plug?

The answer to this is Tesla already uses Mennekes in the EU and other regions. So yes they will be using a different plug for Model 3 in regions that require it

  25. P

Would you trade your Roadster in on the new Roadster?

no IMO the roadster (to this day) is the best looking Tesla vehicle produced. I am not a huge fan of the current design language. Hopefully Tesla continues to offer the 3.0 battery for the "classic roadsters" and we can keep motoring on for the next 15 years.
  26. P

    Is my roadster a 2010 or 2011?

I have a 120x car and it is a 2011. Change over must have happened around 1200 from 2010-2011

Move Over Tesla. Here Comes Cadillac.

The main reason Elon didn't want to do dealers was because most dealers would carry other brands (there is no way a "franchised" dealer would be in business just selling Tesla's). The manufacturers of those vehicles could offer deep discounts and push the other brand(s) to kill Tesla sales +...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Yea that model would also cannibalize their CPO cars which they make crazy profits on i.e. trade in low ball offer on a 60kwh (PO upgrades to 90/100) unlock it to a more sell-able 75kwh for free and rake in the profits. They double end the deal rather rather than just a one time upgrade.
  34. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

It simplifies manufacturing (especially since Tesla seemingly has moved away from their not carrying inventory model). By carrying one car that can be several variants it takes the burden off the factory to build many more different configurations of inventory cars that could be less desirable...

    Lucid Air base price $52500

Fisker outsourced everything (including key components, battery etc) to suppliers. There was very little vertical integration with their failed business model. Once problems arose (along with delays) they had to depend on these suppliers to solve them. Tesla was smart in that they had...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Personally I could care less what people do to their own cars, but there are laws in place. If someone uses non DOT headlights they are risking getting a ticket. You are mixing up what is lawful and what you can get away with. Getting away with something does not mean lawful. You are mixing...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Replacing safety related parts (especially things that deal with the CAN messaging of the vehicle) with aftermarket parts is subject to the approval of NHTSA/FMVSS, this is basic. If someone manufactures part that can affect the safety of the vehicle NHTSA can lawfully investigate (via Special...
  41. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Unlocking the software (not using the proprietary Tesla mechanism) would technically have to comply with various FMVSS regulations set by NHTSA. The hacker/unlocker could be classified as the "manufacturer" of the hack (which would be classified as replacement vehicle equipment- i.e. the hack...
  42. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

NHTSA does apply to this See 49 U.S.C. § 30118 49 U.S.C. § 30102(a)(2), (8) and 49 U.S.C. §§ 30112(a)(3), 30118(b). Green1 isn't reading what is being written just keeps posting the same narrative If you are modifying or replacing equipment/software on any vehicle it is applicable regardless...
  43. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

George Hotz never sold anything... my example was specifically not unlocking the features the same way Tesla did because that would suggest using Tesla's proprietary code, which would probably be illegal.
  44. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

NHTSA regulates the safety impact of unauthorized software/hardware on vehicles (regardless of how they are obtained) that could pose a safety risk to the public. With regards to the conversation, it is not that simple the special order would be quite detailed and all the testing parameters...
  45. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

If someone writes their own firmware and or has their own hardware that communicates with these subsystems/hardware they purchased then they are merely using the hardware that came with the vehicle. If they are using Tesla internal/specific code (obtained from Tesla) then you are correct. The...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

The Model S P100D was not designed for ludicrous mode? A recent production Model S 60kwh is not designed to use the full 75kwh pack? A Model S with AP hardware is not designed to use autopilot? If someone uses proprietary Tesla code to unlock these features (their IP) then that would be clear...
  47. P

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Not true, many processor manufacturers lock the core speeds and you have to pay extra to get an unlocked variant. If a manufacturer did not want you to overclock any of their processors, they would not sell unlocked versions (to make it more difficult to overclock). Further many manufacturers...

TPMS CONTINUES TO FAIL... [RANT] And they are gonna send people the mars?

ATEQ is only for S/X (ie VTxx) Valor Smartool is for Roadster. If the owners can get the settings from Tesla branded SmarTool, we could all do a bulk buy of the non Tesla branded Valor SmarTool around $2-300 from a re seller in Canada. This would solve the issue once and for all.
