    Back-up sound generation

I don't think it should be necessary. I may be showing my age, but when I'm walking through a carpark I like to keep an eye on the cars around me in case they start backing up. I'm teaching my kids this, too. However if we do have to have a sound at least make it a fun one. Like a giant truck...

Tesla, this is what the production Model 3 should look like

Your avatar is perfect for this response. Riley says "Uh. wtf?" haha I still say I hope they don't change the car. OPs render looks good, but I would hope that's the limit of the changes they make. I actually find the idea of slapping a big vinyl sticker of a smiley face on the front amusing. I...

Tesla Model 3 Fully Autonomous ?

Indeed. You may not be piloting the aircraft directly, but you are still in command of it. Airline pilots nowdays are more managers than pilots. Kinda makes the title "Captain" more appropriate, really. Captain tells computer what to do, computer says "aye aye" and does it. Of course airline...

4th Generation Tesla - "Affordable for all"

The Model Ute. It works! Headcanon confirmed.

Future Model 3 Owners In Ontario

I believe by the end of this year there should be a supercharger in Sudbury, North Bay, and Huntsville. The 3 should make it from Barrie to North Bay at least, but it's always good to have a second option further up the road. They'll need to start the east/west directions next year!

    Toronto to Thunder Bay

Wow. You guys are adventurous, taking that trip right now. One of my wife's friends lives in Thunder Bay so of course I plotted it out on the map to see how feasible it is coming from North Bay. Fortunately my wife said she'd rather fly hah.

Future Model 3 Owners In Ontario

Hey folks. I'm up in North Bay. I reserved my Model 3 on the 9th of April - having ummed and ahhed about it for a week or so. I had been planning an EV conversion (for a number of years as finances ebbed and flowed) but finally figured spending more on a good car was better than spending less on...

Countdown Timer to Model 3 Reveal!

I made myself a Tesla watch face for my moto 360 that features a countdown in days until December 2017. 590 days to go!

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

They were on the 2016 map when I looked the other day. I agree that Bancroft is a good spot, but a higher priority would be to expand along the main highways. Somewhere between Blind River and Spanish, then Sault Saint Marie. And around Deep River/Pembroke between North Bay and Ottawa. But...

    Is HUD a bad idea?

I've played with HUDs in commercial jets before, and they are pretty neat. Of course the trouble with those ones is the large slab of glass in your face, and having to have your head in a very precise location in order to see the images projected on it properly. I'm sure Tesla won't have that...

Will the Mod3 PXXD be quicker than the S?

About a month after the warranty expires. :P

    Question about rear indicators

Hey folks. I'm from Australia, but living in Canada now, and one of the few things that bug me about this place is the red brake light/indicator combination on cars. It's silly, I know, but it bugs me. So my question is: Would Tesla fit amber indicators to my Model 3 if requested? It seems odd...

What does this do? (holding "T")

I wonder if they'll expand this to include the Model 3, as a way to do test drives before the cars are built. It wouldn't be perfect, of course, but it might help.

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

I like the idea, but since Tesla already know when you use a supercharger perhaps it should be a bit more like this: If you use the same charger, especially one near your home, more than a couple of times a month then that is when they start billing you. In addition to billing people who leave...

Info and Hints from Elon Tweets

I assure you that as soon as they can, airline pilots let the autopilot take over and drink their coffee. They're still there to manage things, and supervise, but they don't do much hands-on flying. Which is something kids should be taught, actually. Since they'll be managing the car more than...

    Wiki Model 3 Reservation Tally

Someone, I think on the main Tesla forums, there is a table for newbies showing how many miles per hour of charging you can get from various outlets (so many different types in North America!). It works out to roughly three times the kW rating of your outlet. For a 20 amp 110 volt outlet you can...

    Snow and Air Suspension

I see. I'm new to this "snow" thing, so this year I went with winter tyres with little metal spikes in them. Good thing I'm in Northern Ontario where that's allowed. I need all the help that I can get. Ground clearance included. hahaha

Delivery and prep charges, what can be anticipated?

Sounds like it'd be worth it to fly down to Toronto and road trip it in the new car. Which would be my preference anyway.

    Snow and Air Suspension

Oh interesting. The roads up here are full of potholes, too. Especially at this time of year. Depending on the price for the Model 3 I might get that as an option. :D

Would You Prefer A Solid Roof?

Having seen the 360° video of the demo ride from the reveal, I think there's little point in getting the solid roof. The windscreen goes quite a way back, and the rear window goes quite a way forward. People in the back seats will still be in the sun even with the solid roof. However if it's a...

    Snow and Air Suspension

Hey folks, I know this is an old topic. People have been asking about this system since day one. However I haven't seen much info about how the S handles snow, and specifically whether air suspension can help you get out of a jam after sudden snowfall. Some background: I live in Northern...

    Winter Driving Experiences

I'm in Northern Ontario at the moment, where it's -15C and snowing like a crazy thing. We'll be moving up here in early 2015 if all goes according to plan. Hopefully there's an AWD option and the fogging issue will be sorted out by then. And hopefully we can afford an S by then, too! haha

FedEx CEO: Let's end our need for oil

At the airport where i work BP has a couple (two, i think) electric refuelling trucks. They're clunky big 96v dc things, with wet lead acid batteries, but they're neato. The refuelling guys like them, as long as they're working. I suspect they're not very good at keeping the water in the...

Model S Dashboard and console controls

I suppose that does make sense. Since it interacts with actual car systems, not just music and navigation, then i probably shouldn't screw around with it! haha. It would be good to be able to download/create skins or themes for the UI at least. I've managed to convince the wife that i need an...

    Model S specs

Ah that's a bit of a shame. Since Subaru show no sign of producing an electric impreza or liberty/legacy any time soon, i thought for a moment we might see a Tesla win the WRC! haha
  27. Thalass

    Model S specs

The Model S is going to be AWD? I assume by having a second motor up front? This makes it the perfect car for me. I'm a long time Subaru driver, and to me FWD or RWD cars are unnatural. Now i wonder if i could get a lift-kit and some rally tyres for it... Wow!

Model S Dashboard and console controls

I really like the console on the S. I read in this thread that it runs on linux: Does anyone know what flavour? If it was possible i'd be tempted to try and run linuxICE and nGhost for complete customisation. I can't wait to buy a Model S. I've even convinced the wife! haha
