    Issues after MCU upgrade

I recently had the MCU upgraded on my 2017 S 100D (purchased September 2017). Its definitely an improvement, however I still have some lingering issues. Release Notes are not coming up for me, they used to come up on MCU1, albeit slowly. Also, the side repeater cameras are not showing up on...

    MCU and AP3 upgrades

If I already paid for FSD back in 2017, why should I have to pay even more to upgrade to MCU2 now to get FSD? If we paid for FSD, and MCU2 is required for it, then Tesla needs to pay for it, plain and simple. Tesla needs to be more straightforward about FSD on MCU1 - I'm fine if it works...

    FSD Frustration

Well, not a huge surprise. I put in a service request and this is what they said: "Hello from Tesla service. Your vehicle is currently on the newest software release available for your vehicle. There are no other updates currently available. At this time Tesla's Full Self Driving Beta is...

    FSD Frustration

I wonder if folks that have MCU1 like myself will get the download FSD button, or FSD that I paid for over 4 years ago .... My SW version is stuck at 2020.48.37.6 like the original poster. I put in a service request to get it upgraded, dont have high hopes.

    Who ordered S Plaid/Plaid+

Yes, I see mine in the ordering pages too, should have been more specific.

NHTSA asks Tesla to recall 158,000 [now 135,000] vehicles for eMMC failure. Voluntary Recall issued

I was told my eMMC is fine (per their health check) and its the CPU that is the issue.

Model S range and interior update imminent?

Yes, I meant Great Basin. Yeah, once weather warms up a bit, I plan on making some road trips. Its good to have the flexibility, more range means time saved for me, dont like to use up too much time off at once. I dont make long trips often, but more range is helpful when I do. And, when you...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

True, however I like going way out there, like visiting National Parks. Try going from Reno to Big Basin National Park (Hwy 50), not possible without L2 charging. I admit, I'm in the minority, but I bet there are a decent number of others like me. I can use L2 at National Parks, but if I'm on...

    72 amp charging?

I am curious also, as I have run into destination chargers where being able to charge at 72A instead of 48A was helpful and a time saver.

NHTSA asks Tesla to recall 158,000 [now 135,000] vehicles for eMMC failure. Voluntary Recall issued

I would think it would have to involve replacing the MCU. I've been told my eMMC is fine, despite the reboots, long reboot time, etc. The CPU is supposedly the bottleneck in my case, but I get the same or similar symptoms as a failing eMMC. I'm sure there are others. Though I'm sure my eMMC...

NHTSA asks Tesla to recall 158,000 [now 135,000] vehicles for eMMC failure. Voluntary Recall issued

What about cars like mine where I've been having MCU issues, but they told me my eMMC is fine? Its the CPU that is overloaded. I'll take a brand new MCU2 for free!

Ultimate EV Road Trip - Circumnavigating North America

@intrepidtoo for charging I'm guessing among one of the adapters you bought was the Chademo? Did you buy it from tesla's site or somewhere else?

I dont have that version yet, downloading the map update. That would be great if 2020.48.26 fixes it.

    Supercharging nerfed with 100D

Ambient temps have been in the 50s-70s. I do take a lot of road trips for which Supercharging is the best approach obviously.

    Supercharging nerfed with 100D

I noticed starting a couple or so weeks ago that I have not been able to get more than 109 kW at a supercharger. Previously I would routinely get upto 140-160 kW. I have 87k miles on my 100D, bought it in 2017. I drive a good bit, and often myself low when out and about, so I charge at a...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

Yup, sounds familiar. They told me the CPU is being "stressed", they did an MCU health check and it came out fine. I felt like saying really? That makes no sense.

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

So, Tesla remotely looked at logs and the SC manager gave me a canned response. "I had engineer support review all time stamps and car logs. They have confirmed a strain on CPU and Memory usage on Tegra platforms. This is a known issue and currently under investigation. Concern will be...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

My MCU glitched (froze, then self rebooted) 3 times just today, getting beyond ridiculous now. Nothing was plugged into either USB port. Lets see if they do another "MCU health check" and it comes out "clean".

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

So after Tesla insisting my plugged in dashcam for TeslaCam was causing my MCU issues, last night, MCU glitched again (froze, then rebooted), *without* the USB drive plugged in. Service advisor sent me his email, said if it comes up again, at this point I likely wont even need to make an...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

Interesting. The thing is I've had this Samsung SSD for a while, and it only started doing it recently. I would notice though that after 2 days or so, the dashcam would stop working and I'd have to reformat. Sometimes, it would not work 1 day, then work the next. Did you end up getting a...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

Super frustrating, Tesla service called me (3rd time taking my car in for crashing MCU1), and they said it was due to the plugged in USB drive which I use for TeslaCam. Does this make sense at all? That a solid state USB drive will cause the MCU to frequently crash/reboot?

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

Yup, I'm about take my car in for the 3rd time. Both times, the SC wanted to know the exact date/times. This morning they texted me asking to know the exact behavior and date/time. I told them I uploaded a text file to the service request, I shouldnt have to do this! Not sure why they cant...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Ah ok, yes, after I read it again, I realized I wont be reimbursed since they didnt replace the eMMC. Thats fine, as long as they pay for the eMMC upgrade, I'm good with that. Since the last repair I'm still having issues. Will schedule an appointment and see what happens.
  38. T

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Yes, I got the same email. The thing is, I've taken it in twice now, 1st time they did a factory reset, 2nd time they cleared the home drive, but problem is still persisting. I assume they would refund me those repairs?
  39. T

    Update Drought

I have AP3/MCU1 and still stuck on 2020.36.11. I highly doubt the new FSD visuals will work on MCU1.

    Ordered my MS Plaid

Agreed. I would like to keep satellite radio, I'm hoping with the update they did earlier this year they arent getting rid of it. I also wish they would bring back faster AC charging, when out in the boonies away from superchargers, sometimes you can find > 48A tesla chargers.
  41. T

    Ordered my MS Plaid

I have a 2017 Model S 100D also. Did you get AP2.5 or 2.0? I really hope they will offer FUSC - I do a lot of road trips and thats a valuable perk for me.
  42. T

Model S range and interior update imminent?

I think the 3 years is for volume production to the point where they could introduce a "Model 2".
  43. T

    Ordered my MS Plaid

I do a fair amount of road tripping, where I'd pay extra for the FUSC if it was offered. 81k miles in 3 years, probably 60% on road trips requiring supercharging. Slowed down a bit this year due to the pandemic.
  44. T

    Ordered my MS Plaid

Noticed its pay as you go supercharging, is that the case for a new S nowadays? Hopefully they'll bring back FUSC for the Plaid.
  45. T

    Ordered my MS Plaid

I hope they bring back old features such as the sunroof, but not holding my breath on that. I placed an order just after it was announced.

Tesla increases Model S and X Supercharging rate to 225 kW

I've gotten upto 182 kW on my pre-Raven S100D, got that last year. I've been supercharging at a V3 whenever I've can, recently I was able to get to 170 kW or so. I've noticed the warmer ambient temps have helped. It maxes out at 20%-21% SoC for me.
  47. T

    HW3 Upgrade from HW 2.5 with MCU1

Ah ok. What I did notice in the IC display is the amber arrow displayed.
  48. T

    HW3 Upgrade from HW 2.5 with MCU1

I noticed that with my MCU1/HW3, I do see solid traffic lights, but not traffic lights with arrows. Assuming that's the same for others with MCU1/HW3.
  49. T

Pre-Raven 100D also able to support upto 200kW supercharging?

I was recently able to get 166 kW on my pre-Raven 2017 S100D. I started at a 9% SoC, then maxed out at 166 kW a few minutes later at 21%. It was a slow, uneven ramp up. I have noticed that with warmer ambient temps I've gotten higher rates. With similar ambient temps, I have also seen...

    HW3 Upgrade from HW 2.5 with MCU1

I did not lose any settings going from HW2.5 to HW3. I do see traffic lights and stop signs, but no cones. I'm assuming the computer can still "see" it, but it doesnt get displayed in the IC.
