    Elon Musk

It wasn’t relatable to most people. Condemnation was widespread. But some are less emotionally mature than others.

    Elon Musk

I didn’t vote on every comment though I did come close. I think it’s surprising and revealing that many on TMC are choosing to defend EM in the midst of his current behavior. Today he’s yet again choosing to spend his time trolling Montana Skeptic online. I think it’s hitting the fan at Tesla...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Probably should get back to kvetching about alcantaragate. I'll start. Where's my Alcantara gone? ;)

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

My observations are also valid for the current model S. As far as what the 2020 Roadster may/may not do performance wise...I feel that "Alcantaragate" and many of teslas other failings/shortfalls/wildly optimistic projections (Thinking of Elon's cross country AP2 trip he didn't take at the end...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

That's Electrek for you, sadly. It works as a fan site. But they present themselves as journalists, and journalists they are not, IMHO.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Great comment IMHO. I have made similar comments, as has Anxiety Ranger and a few others. I agree totally with your sentiment that this could be the "Canary in the coal mine". I think it's puzzling that most people seem to be ignoring the statement that the supplier quit talking to Tesla. I...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

But is it "Premium" woven fabric?? I think only Tesla has access to that ;)

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

My performance car will get smoked 0-60 from a standstill by most vans. But, I've never seen a van like that.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Yeah I get what you're saying here for sure. I think that there is definitely some truth to the assertion that 0-60 is the most important metric for most car buyers as far as performance goes. That is definitely supported by it being the most touted statistic for any performance car...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

You've sort of moved the goalposts with this new comment. The original comment that I was addressing asserted that, essentially "Performance" teslas could smoke any car on the road at $250,000 or less. The fact is, that's just not true in any measure, except limited 0-60 launches. I also...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I've actually read this entire thread (I know, I'm nuts), and one gentleman said that he was planning on getting aftermarket Alcantara, and was quoted $1K. He seemed to feel it was well worth it. Im not sure where he was located.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I believe that the verbiage is "Premium materials throughout"
  14. M

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

That also has....nothing to do with the discussion at hand whatsoever. I have as much right as anywhere else here to post. And more insight than some, it seems. Best wishes.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I think it's going to be quite interesting to see how this plays out. I suspect, as you do, that Tesla isn't going to have a "Less premium" headliner material for the non-PUP vehicles. And this will definitely put them in a marketing conundrum.
  16. M

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I'm sure that you can understand that that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.
  17. M

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

It almost feels like you didn't read the post that you were replying to. There's ample proof, in the form of physical cars, that some people who paid for PUP got a more premium headliner than others. Thats the point of the comment that you just replied to.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

"But complaining about the lipstick on the dashboard when you are getting a car that smokes pretty much everything in this class of car and not realizing the other attributes is absurd. Smoking every sports car driven by some dude who doesn’t even know how to shift. Priceless" It's important...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Excellent post IMHO. If we take Tesla at their word, they've put in Alcantara intentionally on the first 1,500 cars or so in order to create buzz about the premium interior only to remove said feature quietly, and it's been "Planned all along". Yet everyone is paying the same 5K for the PUP. And...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

But you already have paid for it, if you got PUP. That's the whole gripe of the situation. Some people who got PUP actually get a premium headliner, while others (The 99%, ironically ;) ) are getting a product used in Hyundais/Kia's that Tesla has chosen to call "Premium".

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I've been really enjoying reading all of the comments on here, and look forward to learning more, hopefully, in the future about what has caused "AlcantaraGate". I am STRONGLY in the camp that feels that this change was not planned beforehand. I feel that Tesla has frayed their relationship...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Wow. 'No offense intended'? Totally offended by your post. You could have just claimed my views were an outlier, but you had to go the extra mile. Sorry to hear that my post offended you. It's the truth as I see it. I've never seen you critical of tesla, and I've always seen you defending...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

This doesn’t surprise me. I’ve spent a lot of time on this forum, and I’ve never seen you be upset with any of Tesla’s decisions, no matter how dubious. No offense intended, but I think your feelings on this matter are more of an outlier than the gentlemen’s that you were responding to.
