FIXED- Inside Tire Wear Problem 2015 Model S

So I have a 2015 P85D 21" and have run Contis (36-38k kms), Michelin Pilot Sports (32k kms) and have just fitted the new Hankook Ion EV tyre. Front inside edges on last set of Contis wore through to canvas on inside of tyre, not where tread is (was!), and Tesla have rebuilt front end at my...

    Interesting driving stats thread

You guys with newer cars should be grateful for the phenomenal range you get. I have a 2015 P85D and driving at my most conservative in ideal conditions can never see under 190 wH/km so my range is around 340 km actual. I would be over the moon to see 150, let alone 120. Newer cars have...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

In discussion with a Tesla tech (in Australia) revealed that an update in early 2020 I think changed the settings for cooling. My 2015 P85D runs the cooling pump any time I charge over 80%, and for 6-8 hours, or until charge drops back to 80%. At higher SOCs it does eventually stop, but long...

Just finished a 3,044 mile road trip in my '16 MS 90D

Wow, at 90 mph that is spectacular, but I guess in hot weather you get the offset of lower air drag. I have averaged 330 Wh/mi over the life (so far) of my 2015 P85D and Tesla tell me that I "pay" for the P with some reduction in efficiency. At 90 mph (totally illegal here) I would be looking...

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

Agree with some of above posts, critical issue is that Tesla don't abandon older cars, at some point there will be no upgrades left that will work with old CPUs, memory, etc, but given a car might last 15 years they can't do what Microsoft do and just abandon XP for instance! My 2015 P85D...

I've loved Tesla for 7 years. But after years of abuse, I'm out

My experience concurs with most of what has been written above, Tesla service was so good in Australia in 2016/17 that I found myself telling them they didn't need to wash it, they didn't need to give me a loaner, I would come and get the car they didn't need to send it back to me on a flatbed...

    Cooling post charging

Interested to know if anyone else is seeing this, Tesla service tech tells me it is "typical behaviour" for batteries the age of mine. For past 6 months or so (i.e. since upgrade xxxIforget) anytime I have charged to over 80% SOC a pump (now confirmed as the cooling pump) runs for hours, up to...

    Help understanding my battery pack

I am a bit confused by the thread. If you can trust the car's info feed, and the battery drops from 90% to 20% and it shows 57 kWh drawn out of the battery, then the car is telling you that 70% = 57 kWh so 100% (useable) = 57/0.7 = 81.4 kWh. It seems to me that doesn't matter where those...

Elon, your programmers have wrecked AP1. !

Thanks to all the responses above. You sort of assume that all Tesla's behave the same, but maybe they don't. I am on the latest Australian update v10.0 (2019.32.12.7 b728e1d) and ... for the past 2 years, on auto steer, the car automatically slows down AND speeds up, when it passes speed...

Elon, your programmers have wrecked AP1. !

Hi, I have a Sept 2015 P85D with AP1 and until 2 upgrades ago it was as perfect as that technology was going to get (or nearly anyway), it was amazing. Camera recognised road sign speed limits accurately, a paused upward lift of the CC stalk set that recognised speed limit for cruise control...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

I would have thought that this is just battery charging efficiency. The car is measuring how many kWh it puts into the battery, then how many you get back when you drive. Batteries are not 100% efficient, so on your car appears that it takes about 73 kWh into the batteries to provide 63 kWh...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

So I haven't seen that noted elsewhere (maybe (I missed it), when I charge my P85D over 90% (supercharger or not, doesn't matter) the coolant pump runs for hours (yes hours!) with the car otherwise sitting idle. It is a problem because it knocks off available kms just sitting there. I only...

Is Tesla trying to become the absolute worst service organization?

I am in Australia, have only had my P85D for 3 years but have seen same total collapse of service resources. They were obviously over-manned 3 years ago and the service people couldn't have been more friendly or proactive, now because of cost cutting they are just uncontactable and Tesla have...

Autopilot Called Out in NTSB Report on Tesla Crash into Fire Truck

I have a 2015 AP1 P85D, in my experience there is something in the software that differentiates between a stationary object, or an object moving at high speed towards your car, compared to a car you are following. I e. the car doesn't mind looking directly at a car coming towards you on the...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Another aspect of recent update - AC pump runs for extended period after charging ceases. At this stage my Sept 2015 P85D VIN 5YJSB7H4XFF089069 is not showing range reduction, but........since the recent software upgrade the AC pump continues to run after the charger is disconnected. This did...

Congratulations - IMHO you DID make the right choice. I am 69, same reasons as yours.

    Model 3 Charging in Australia

Not a lot! All Sales moved to Chadstone (a shopping mall), lounge closed except during weekday hours, can’t buy even minor parts like trim clips -have to email and mail order, and for first time ever staff person on desk generally unhelpful. Signs of financial stress Tesla is under - it sure...

Positive Post: 25k miles in and I love my S100D

Like most on this page, can't agree more, my 2015 P85D is the most beautiful and astonishing car I have ever owned and I plan on being buried with it! I would never have bought an ICE Maserati or Jaguar or Ferrari because they are just very very expensive versions of a zillion other cars on the...

Front Motor Noise At Speeds around 50mph

My experience also, switch Range mode on, get whine around 80 kph (50 mph), switch Range off, no whine, can alternate back and forth, totally repeatable! So go figure! I only use Range mode when on the highway at 100 kph and no whine then anyway, switch it off as soon as back on suburban streets.

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

Agree 100%, Model S is a relatively timeless design, bit of Aston Martin, bit of Maserati, both of which have a style line that has been consistent for ages. Model S will still look contemporary in 2025 IMHO.

Front Motor Noise At Speeds around 50mph

So glad you posted this question. Although I have a 2015 S P85D I have EXACTLY the same issue, love everything about my car to death except for ringing between 75-85 kph (around 50 mph). Nothing noticeable at 60 mph, nothing below 40 mph, but that zone just around 50 mph!!!!!!! Following down...

    Tesla Autopilot maps

Thanks for this discussion guys, I have asked Tesla about the car slowing going into corners and was told that it doesn't do it! I drive on rural roads in the south of Australia and was puzzled by what was providing the info for decision making in TACC. On a section of road I drive frequently...

    Always unlock at location feature

Disappointing that many owners have asked for an "unlock at home" feature, or "disable walk away lock at home location", or "set a HOME profile at home location" option - all with the purpose of allowing you to have walk away lock enabled on your profile, but have the car remain unlocked if in...
