I submitted the ACH through my Tesla account and it said “something’s gone wrong here” twice, but then my balance said $0. But the transfer never hit my bank, so I had to go get a cashiers check in order to take delivery.

Finally! Some minor paint issues but everything else looked pretty good. Richmond VA delivery center staff were great. Pro tip: don’t try to do ACH at the delivery, bring a cashiers check.

I hear you, but 4 grand or more is an absolute ton of money...even on a $60k car. We get a bit of winter weather here. The other thing is that I don't have a garage at present, so park in my driveway outside.

YMMV, but I believe multiple hard pulls from auto finance companies within a 30 day window all count as one hard pull for credit score purposes. Otherwise it would penalize people who shop around for credit.

If the Tesla Account site is asking you to make your final payment, check the MVPA link. Mine changed when the payment ACH option was opened up, and it includes the VIN, even though the actual website doesn't list a VIN yet.

VIN received from calling customer service on 8/17/18, call from IDA on 8/22/18, tentative delivery scheduled for 9/4/18 (though need to reschedule). It's happening...

Hard to tell because they don't go sequentially, but they only reserved the VINs into the 60s starting on July 1st. So you will almost surely have a production date in July or August. Model 3 VINs (@Model3VINs) | Twitter

There is a term in there somewhere that they reserve the right to ask for proof that you bought the car, but I am not sure they actually check. It is an unsecured loan for a reason.
