    Supercharger - Regina, SK

There are several listed as planned along the #1. Was this permit ever confirmed as existing?

    Supercharger - Regina, SK

With the Winnipeg & Brandon SC moving ahead it would make more sense for a SC somewhere in the Moosimin region first. No islands. Link from the West to follow. Maybe via MHat as per current projections map, although I still think via Saskatoon makes better sense.

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Because the situation with CCS was and is very different in Europe. It is even a different adaptor. This has been covered in this thread already. Repeatedly.

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Look, I understand it is hard taking the news that your pet desire is niche, at best. That it doesn't make a lot of sense to have it high priority when you look at effort vs benefit in the larger picture. I've been there, not a happy place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But I'm a troll because people can't bring...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

It means it is entirely rational for Tesla to make it low priority because it is a low use case because some anecdotal of people here don't stand up to reality of actual use out in the wild. EDIT: On top of the cost, because "profit margin" if you're looking at that requires accounting for...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

If wipers that reliably work in rain were something approaching niche and we about vaguely irrational "feels good but sure it makes no money sense", you'd have a valid comparison. But they aren't and so you don't.

Any M3 owners with a family regret it?

No issue yet with the 14 & 12 year-old on a few hours trips. I've not done longer than w/more than two people but space wasn't an issue at all. The 14 y-o is still in "beanpole" mode but is nearly as tall as me. We've even had three in the back for an hour+, including the 16 y-o that doesn't...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Then Tesla should definitely drop other items on the To Do list to pour resources into rushing the item through design, sourcing, and regression testing of hardware and software for the sub-%1 of customers that would buy it? For a standard that they don't control that is still finding its feet...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

To which I responded pointed out an issue (and you even talked about rotating the connector? BWHAAHAH). Which is a lot different dimensions. Because CCS plugs are both monstrosities (Type 1 arguably worse because it's got the same issue as G/T, a external latch). It is sorta the bottom "ball...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

And you don't grasp how in the minority you are? How niche that is, and so rightly down the priority list of To Do things? Where there are a quickly increasing number of other options of native charging?

All I can do is just laugh

Once upon a time there were cars that came with two different keys, one for the car and the other for the door which allowed you to do that dance with one set of keys. Either take one off the key ring while doing it, or I had a key ring that was actually 2 rings with a quick-connect between...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Tesla DCs are about as close to CHAdeMO as the later is to Supercharging, even though one's AC and the other DC, and they are flooding that "I'm out locally" use case where the Urban SC aren't in yet. I talked last weekend to someone that drives very widely, top 10 in unique SC locations. He...

Yeah, I missed the "not CCS" at the end. I tripped myself up on expecting something relevant to the discussion about CCS.
  14. ℬête Noire

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

That's missing the CCS portion, it's only the A/C portion of Type 2. Right?
  15. ℬête Noire

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Good god man, look at where the latch at the top of the connector comes to. Yeah "lack of taste and lack of foresight" and "quite content to scare the sugar out of potential BEV consumers so they'll stick with ICE vehicles" would count as "reasons" I suppose. :p
  16. ℬête Noire

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

And the difference in situation of CCS in Europe and in North America is massive. Back in 2017 CCS was effectively non-existent nationally here. Now it exists here at least, with EA hoping to by the end of this year close the running gap of how far it is behind Tesla to only about 4 years...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Does it actually matter if you didn't already have that adaptor sitting in your garage? That's a pretty low payout. How many years would it take to cover the $450 of the CHAdeMO for that electricity? You certainly aren't going to be worried about whether you get home, or not. ((I know what the...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Come on Webeevdrivers. Check my avatar. Hopefully they bought that as a local commuter....and their butt continues to fit the seat. Because when it doesn't it isn't a happy thing to drive in. ;)

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Serving inter-city travel is where the state of L3 charging is currently. 20 miles one way or the other isn't really anything when you're primarily charging at home or some other L2. If you're not doing that, and especially if you're not charging at a Tesla SC, you're likely paying gasoline...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Use case the OP is suggesting is not practical outside a very narrow niche. "I'm going to run out of electrons otherwise" is probably the strongest of a set of very weak arguments for it. It's punching out the strongest case there is. If you want to call that a "straw man" then the whole pile...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Tesla vehicles that already have the capability to use ChaDEMO actually using was relatively rare to start with, due to requiring $500 hardware (people would borrow the gear from local "clubs", informal or more organized, when they were going to do a long distant trip to certain areas). Use even...

FYI: EAP treats thumb-wheel adjusting the stereo volume is "driver input"

Sure cruise control is obvious. Your music volume?

First I've seen the suggestion that CCS is where there aren't SC in OK.
  24. ℬête Noire

FYI: EAP treats thumb-wheel adjusting the stereo volume is "driver input"

It didn't seem clear to me that adjusting the stereo controls were driving controls.
  25. ℬête Noire

    How low can you go?

A/C will cost about an extra 4-8% of your range, depending on temps and vehicle speed. Electric heat will cost near double that. As for being concerned with yellow? Or even red? Nah, when you run out of colour at all that is when it gets a bit tense.
  26. ℬête Noire

Are your aero covers marring your wheels?

I haven't seen any marking from the caps, and I take them off and on fairly often. It has surprised me a bit that I haven't seen anything. However I might have missed it happening as I don't care so much about coating damage on the rims ever since one of my wheels flopped over onto the driveway...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

That reads like a Canadian version of Electrify America? Which means of course they are shadowing Supercharger installs, just like EA. Hopefully not as belligerent to BEVs as EA's plan, though. :p I wonder if VW is involved with it somehow? Great news if they start actually executing on that...

FYI: EAP treats thumb-wheel adjusting the stereo volume is "driver input"

I had not seen this tidbit mentioned before, and I happened on this fact accidentally last weekend, so I'm tossing it out there to get more people in-the-know. EDIT: Of course my thread title has as typo. *facepalm*

What about now? o_O I followed the link in the OP, it looks like the application now has the correct address, 5128, but last week someone with the FD was still complaining about an incorrect address and then did a copy-pasta about address labeling rules? The later in particular doesn't make...

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

BTW I didn't see a single phantom brake on this trip. I haven't gotten any from overhead stuff in a very long time, way over a month at least. I just get occasionally phantom speed reductions that seem to be picking up concrete barriers running parallel to the road when going over humped...

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

100% this I've noticed for myself. The first couple times I went to College Station I'd drop near the same highway 6 at an overpass near CS on the way up. It is just so darn straight and flat coming to that and just so few features it is very natural to sort of drift out of the mental grove...

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

I know how fast you were traveling! ;) The timer length is strongly linked to speed. At around 80mph (I've never measured exactly, not sure if it is graduated or a sharp change) it halves down from regular highway travel timer down to about 10 seconds. Of course on that segment of the I10...

Is 350 KW charging possible for current model 3s?

But it almost certainly that number because it was 50% of the full kW available to a traditional SC pair. Same gear, just programmed to maintain a 50/50 split no matter what. If V3 because the new standard in gear it seems plausible that Urban SC will follow in some way. Also, as batteries are...

Which tires should chains go on when you have AWD?

Yup, that's where the roughly 12mm clearance gap I was talking about is for the 18" MXM4s. Slightly less for the stock 19" and 20". I'd gotten in for a rough measurement when I was picking out summer tires, to make sure I wasn't risking rubbing. It definitely has more clearance off to the side...

    Supercharger - Ozona, TX

I noticed on Sunday afternoon that the signs were down. Thanks for confirming it was intentional, I hadn't gone in incase it had just been someone doubling down on jerkiness. I was just on a very quick stop anyway. Great to hear they got a shop approved! Will definitely drop in my next time...

All I can do is just laugh

I find this truly baffling assertion.
  39. ℬête Noire

Is 350 KW charging possible for current model 3s?

Ability to output 250kW would be kick-butt if they stay with pairing on the intercity SC. That means that the older vehicles would be able to both draw full rate even when splitting a pair. HUGE improvement so no vehicles would get left out on the improvements, and also be a far less clogging...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

No. The higher end CCS rates are theoretically in the ballpark at the moment if you don't charge too much, or too little. Only their game plan is explicitly to charge gasoline rates, they've stated this. So expect they'll raise those rates when they have actual cars that begin to use those...

All I can do is just laugh

Your assumption is incorrect. These are decades old issues for me. My first car had frameless door windows and I've raised a number of kids, one of which would likely make your hair curl in his "maintenance level" when he was younger. I'll even up the with door/trunk key locks freezing up...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

Look at its plan. They are going to be shadowing the old SC network, trying to start closing the several years gap that they are behind. It's not going to be adding any meaningful new area coverage. Which makes a lot of sense for them, because of how well Tesla did laying out their network. By...

[Updated] Model 3 CCS / CHAdeMO adapter

You can move to Europe. :p For the most part, not really. And every week headed it moves a little farther in the direction from "huge deal". CCS has decidedly less overall coverage for the privilege of normally paying more. ChaDEMO similar, with the kicker that it at best isn't much above L2...

Exactly How Strong is the Regen?

TLDR; "Yeah ℬête Noire, you were right". :D The jerky onset of the Bolt's L regen gives the false impression it is "stronger" but in actuality overall L (sans whammy-bar) is the same regen braking as LR-D. Just a somewhat different shaped curve.
  46. ℬête Noire

All I can do is just laugh

Because you're in such a hurry to drive the Model 3 that you forget to clear first? Because of the prenaturally aerodynamic sex-on-wheels window curves, if you screw up and forget yes there is a better chance for it to be a bigger dump. But that's 1) kinda on you 2) means an awesome...

All I can do is just laugh

Same damn problem was there. Same damn solution now. Clear it before opening. Quibbling about magnitude if you don't do it doesn't matter then, right?
  48. ℬête Noire

Is 350 KW charging possible for current model 3s?

My understanding is that it isn't required on the Model 3, they come with it built in, as mentioned in the article. It obviously won't work as-is in NA, because CCS in Europe has a different format plug than North America (Type 2, rather than the Type 1 here).
  49. ℬête Noire

All I can do is just laugh

I understand the pain of getting a trunk full of snow, if you're not paying attention. However I'm unclear how you can live in a snowy area and not know to wipe off before opening something. Old time'y trunk, side doors, whatever. If that stuff piles on you gotta clear it before opening or it'll...
