Your car is never really "Off", but in sleep mode to put it simply. Just like a phone still eats energy in sleep mode, so does a car. I would consider the 2kwh a day the normal amount of energy required to maintain the car.

I find the best and simplest way is a bank draft. The bank gaurentees the money, so there is no chance of Tesla not accepting it. Also TD can issue a bank draft with no fee.
