For anyone else looking, here are the 3M products (second page of the .pdf). Mostly solid colors, but a few carbon fiber options, as well as some brushed metal options, which are intriguing....

Yes, that's definitely better...I was hoping to find something with a bit more texture, but barring that, I think XPel Stealth is the way to go. Thanks. Still hoping to hear from someone who has done something a little more textured/interesting. Thanks everyone!
Has anyone wrapped, or heard of someone else wrapping the glossy backs of the Model X seats, like with a vinyl or some similar product? I loved my S, and love my new X, but HATE those glossy seat backs! I wouls have been fine with something like the S had, a textured matte back...But this gloss...
This is fantastic news! We'll be up in Lake George at the beginning of August...I'll let you you the status when I get up there (assuming no one else follows up before then)
My prediction is still for by/near Memorial Day, but you never know with the town of Southampton. They may drag their heels at getting there to inspect it, but most of the holdups usually occur prior to or during construction. As this appears to be mostly complete, it could be a matter of days...
I drove by on Sunday and basically took the same photos as st50maint, so I won't bother posting them...But essentially it looks as though all of the construction has been completed. So, at this point I'm guessing that they're waiting for final hookup and/or inspection from the town. Stay tuned...
More progress today at the Southampton Supercharger...Workmen were working on the charging stations and the transformer/generator, and said it would be finished "in a few weeks."
Tesla-branded exterior sleeves going on...
More progress on the transformer/generator area.
I drove by on Monday and that they have started the transformer portion...Photos to follow. I'll keep you posted. Pretty sure it will be done by Memorial Day.
Forgive me, I've been a little out of the Model X loop. We have a Model S, and I had planed to get an X for my wife when her LR4 comes off lease next year, so I haven't really been obsessing over the delivery schedules. Except, now I just found out that her lease is over this September, and not...
Well, for better or worse, it's going in...And we don't get to decide where they go anyway. So, I'm not going to lose sleep over it...Tesla has managed to build a pretty decent network of Superchargers across the country so far, and continue to grow it week-to-week. At this point, I'm going to...
Just drove by yesterday morning...Eight stalls, looks very promising, although but I don't see the generator/transformer unit on site yet. So I don't think this will be open any time soon...I'm guessing they've got a Memorial Day target anyway.
As someone who lives in the Hamptons year-round, I've driven into NYC and back on a single charge many times, and usually end up with about 20-30 miles of range left. But unlike summer weekend visitors, I don't have to sit in traffic both ways, which can cut down on range significantly...
I'm having a hard time finding a good map that 1. Shows all of the Superchargers, and 2. Allows you to get driving directions between those superchargers.
I'm aware of the EVTRipPlanner map/website, and for several reasons (that I won't bore you with), I REALLY don't like using it.
I'm...
Rats! This is the perfect location for our summer vacation road trip...It is EXACTLY halfway between the eastern end of Long Island and Lake George...We'll be there in August, I really hope this is rectified by then!!!
Maybe, although the colors (light/dark) look reversed. And when I said "never to appear again" I just meant that it was never used in any kind of promotion of the Superchargers...It was front and center at the unveiling, and then never "used" again in any kind of promotion of Tesla and/or the...
I don't know about the name, but the shape of the building is definitely a nod to the phallic obelisk that was debuted at the first Supercharge launch, never to appear again!

This is almost an irrelevant question...Lithium Ion batteries are what's working NOW, but they will not factor into the future of electric cars...It's the next wave of battery innovation that will matter. Maybe it's lithium air...Maybe it's graphene...Maybe it's something else...But my point is...
Is it time to kill the thread yet? I mean, Tesla doesn't quite have the reach of Ford, Honda, Toyota, etc, but sightings aren't exactly "random" at this point. Unless it's something crazy, like at the top of Machu Picchu or somewhere like that.
Loaded 85D...I love my P85, but I'd trade it in a second for the 85D. The performance is a nice luxury, but I'd rather have all the bells and whistles AND the D, and sacrifice a little 0-60 speed.
GREAT event...I couldn't stay for all of it, but yes, there was an amazing turnout (500-ish people) and lots of great information and excitement about Nikola Tesla and the Tesla Science Center, and a LOT of interest in the 30+ Tesla cars there :) I only took a couple of photos, but here they are:
I didn't...I'm a Tesla owner and stockholder, and a SolarCity stockholder...Basically, I'm all in with Elon! Could I get a better deal with another solar company? Possibly...But I believe in putting my money (or savings!) where my mouth is. That's why I wanted to see what other SolarCity...
I'm a Tesla Model S owner, and I'm about to move forward on a proposal from SolarCity to have them install solar panels at my house...Any advice, suggestions, etc from fellow Tesla owners/SolarCity customers before I sign on the dotted line? Thanks :)
I've noticed that they seem to "whip" back and forth, especially at high speed...And I also feel like, at times, they don't "stick" to the windshield enough (they often "miss" spots), but yet at other times, they seem to be dragging/squeaking over the windshield, even when it is raining and...
TSportline, does your silver correspond to the look/finish of Tesla's silver wheels? I would like to assume so, but since you don't have a photo/comparison, I just have to ask...
Other than that, they look great, thanks!
Hi Lucas...I have my Tesla HPWC and Nema 14-50 listed on PlugShare and Recargo, and they are still showing up as two separate locations...Would you call that a discrepancy? Should they have been consolidated into one location? Let me know what you think, thanks :)
As stated by several other people, the obeche matte looks great, especially with the grey interior. I know some people prefer the lacewood to the obeche, but in my opinion, when you look at the two of them side by side, the obeche blows the lacewood away...It is very luxurious looking, while...
Elon Musk on CBS This Morning (2/3/14)
Pretty nice, positive piece overall...And listen up for an indirect plug from Sarah Jessica Parker, right at the end:
Elon Musk talks about electric car cross-country milestone - CBS News
I've had my car for over a year, and I too have drivers in the opposite direction flash me, usually at least once a night. I thought it might be due to the fact that I drive with my fog lights on (I like the extra bit of light). I guess I should turn them off and still see if I get flashed...And...
I'm not comparing apples to oranges...I just gave those as examples, because it has bearing on any wood detail. In pretty much any example, longer runs of grain are harder to find, and are therefore considered more high-end than shorter runs. What you prefer is up to you. I was just trying to...
After seeing this post, I ordered the suction cups and mounted my plate the same way. I've tested it on a 100-mile drive from the eastern end of Long Island into New Jersey and back, and they work. So, thanks for the great idea!
However, that was in the fall, during much more temperate weather...
Umm...Not at all. In general, longer runs of wood are harder to find, and therefore the usage is considered more high-end, luxurious, etc. Another example would be the width of hardwood floor boards...8-12" wide boards have a more high-end feel than 2-4" boards. Now, if you used an engineered...
I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING! The Countach was the first car I fell in love with, and has been the only car on my "ICE Car Wish-list" of cars that I want to own one day...Until now. It's officially off the list! Who would want to sit in that?!
The Delorean was also on my list as one...
Well, workaround or "right," it works, so that's all I care about. And it doesn't force you to take only horizontal photos at all...Vertical photos are oriented correctly. All it does is force you to take horizontal photos one way versus the other. Which any basic camera does as well (can you...
