Is MY Demand down in US because people are waiting for restoration of the federal tax credit?

Normal seasonality to Tesla sales. It will pick over the course of the year. Even more so as people start getting vaccinated and are ready to replace vehicles. A lot of people like myself deferred car purchases due to covid.

Everyone's personal situation is different. Plus, some folks are up between 10x to 200x simply by holding shares. So selling a little here isn't necessarily a big deal.

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

Exactly. It would look like corporate welfare for the democrats to subsidize the largest car maker on planet earth. Even on the remote chance it were to happen, Tesla would just raise all the prices overnight. They aren't going to leave money on the table when they are still production...

Anyone waiting for the 2nd gen Model Y?

All the one's coming out of the factory today are marked as 2021s. They will just be adding stuff throughout the year on most of their vehicles for 2021 marked vehicles. Do your research on what is currently offered at the corresponding price and whether you would be extremely happy with it or...

    2021 model

Exactly. A Model Year doesn't necessarily guarantee that a Tesla will have specific updates. Probably has to be tracked by build date or vin if you are looking for something specific. Tesla rolls things out whenever they are ready. There will likely be more Model 3 changes coming for...

    2021 model

A true model year from a legacy manufacturer involves a fixed rollout of new features each year that correspond to that model year changeover. Tesla doesn't do that. The model year is arbitrary for Tesla since they make changes as they go every month. The last 2020 Model Y rolled off the...

Waiting for Tax Credit to come back?

Tesla is already the largest automaker on planet earth multiple times over by market cap. Does Model Year matter?

general rule of thumb is to avoid the first year of production for any new vehicle. It is kind of arbitrary, but as a potential used car buyer I would be more mindful of that than whether a Model Y was built in 8/2020 or 10/2020 which technically spans two different "Model Years".
  12. sparcs

    Does Model Year matter?

Does this even matter for the Model Y. Resale values currently should be affected by the fact that Model Y is still in the first year of production. Wouldn't that affect resale more? Let's say i'm in the market three years from now, I would personally avoid a used Model Y built anywhere in...

    Does Model Year matter?

i'm not in opposition. Most people would prioritize improvements to the vehicle which is figured out by Build Date for a Tesla. The Model Year doesn't tell you that on a Tesla so it obviously becomes less important. There's no acknowledgment of build date in your poll...
  14. sparcs

    Does Model Year matter?

The premise of your poll is wrong by focusing on Model Year. Build Date matters more than Model Year for Teslas when a customer may be interested in looking for specific updates to tech, packages, interior updates, color changes, etc. The rest of the stuff like insurance and resale is...

No install of front license plate?

a lot more customers than you think don't like attaching anything to the bumper. People are even willing to pay fines when front license is required by their state. Just look at all the obsessiveness with paint protection films that go into the thousands of dollars. People can be very picky.

    12 Volt Battery

Funny how there is no rhyme or reason as I believe the Model 3 and Y use the same AtlasBx battery. AtlasBx is owned by Hankook and makes ACDelco batteries in Korea as well. I'm hoping the added volume for the battery with the 3 and Y will get a lot of other 12v battery manufacturers...

    2021 model

Tesla doesn't have true model years. The Model 3 updates are coincidental with the changover from 2020 to 2021. With a new vehicle like the Model Y, Tesla is making changes every month. Many are just not visible.
