Don't get your Tires from Tesla

My Model X Front Driver-side Tire has a huge BUBBLE in the side-wall. Have owned for a bit over a year. Called Tesla and was told they provide NO WARRANTEE for Tires EITHER NEW OR REPLACEMENTS!!!! No ROAD HAZARD, mileage, NOTHING!!! So, not only is there no incentive to get your Tires...

Model 3 Aero Wheel Cap Kit

This is going to be a recurring problem I think. A few HOURS after someone notices a new thing to buy on TESLA store for the Model 3 and GONE! Out of Stock! I think that means that Model 3's are being delivered... ;-)

Very Confused Homelink - anyone else having problems

I haven't seen anyone mention this issue. Probably a bit uncommon but a real pain! We have a Sig MS, Sig MX and now Model 3! Two homes (not rich, just recently married and haven't joined households yet) with different manufacturer of Garage Door openers. Prior to Model 3 joining the family...

    Model X Production Video

The X and S ARE being built on the same line. When we picked up our X at the Fremont factory, we got a tour including manufacturing line. Literally, about every 5th car was an X and there were both Left and Right-hand drive Model S's being built. Very impressive.

How many people got a "problem-free" Model X?

mine is a Sig X received on 15 Jan 2016 and has ~3000 miles at this point. I would describe a "problem" as something requiring a piece of HW to be exchanged... In our case, one of the original keys was DOA and has been replaced. No other physical changes have been required. We HAVE RECEIVED...

Significant Reduction to 2016 US SuperCharger Installs?

As a piece of Historic reference, I received my Sig Model S on 2 November 2012. At that time there were 5 SC stations with about 40 chargers TOTAL; and, all in Cali! Today, there are 609 SC Stations around the world with 3574 chargers! What a difference 3 and a half years make!!! I know...

Significant Reduction to 2016 US SuperCharger Installs?

I don't know about the previous 2016 map but today's looks like they are planning to almost double SC's this year (in the US). Does that match what you see?

    Roadside assistance policy

it has always been the case that running completely out of juice was a very bad thing. I thought Tesla added functionality to protect the battery rather than bricking the car. I've not heard of AAA or any service being able to "emergency charge" the main batteries but that would be great news...

    Tesla Model X Moments

Here are a few Tesla moments for your enjoyment: Jennifer was charging at the Fremont Supercharger as a bunch of Chinese business types were coming on from a factory tour. One gentleman asked if he could ask a few questions about the Signature Model X she was charging...an hour later this guy...

Question regarding the middle phone adaptor

although it looks good, it doesn't work at all if you have a typical phone case. I was also concerned that it would be pretty easy to break so removed the connector. Since there are two of us who drive it and we have different styles of phone cases, that's been the best move! Note that you...

    Where did AM Radio go???

So, maybe something changed when I wasn't looking?! My Sig Model S has AM/FM/XM Satelite BUT, My Sig Model X ONLY has FM/XM Satelite!!! Has AM radio been removed from currently produced Model S's? Stopped by the Fremont SC and they confirmed "not a bug", AM radio is not supported on Model...

Sig X 969 Picked up Today at Fremont Plant

Some follow-up about the Model X vs Model S... Both of ours are Signature versions so early manufacturing. Observations so far: 1. I can't believe that anyone would have the "need" for Ludicrous mode on the Model X! The Model X - P90D is SCARY fast in INSANE mode already. Acceleration...

Sig X 969 Picked up Today at Fremont Plant

Today we picked up our Model X Sig, ... VIN 0049x, P90D, NO Ludicrous, Winter treatment, Pearl White/Black interior with Burl wood trim. Took the Factory Tour, we recommend it highly. A Pleasure to see actual manufacturing in operation! Jennifer was the hit of the evening showing off her...

    Seat Colors

I was hoping the Black would have Red Piping ala Model S Sig. Guess not. Wish they had dark Grey but not. Oh well, Black it is! I had White once...then my 2 year old found a RED ball point pen!

Any X-Sig reservation holders who don't want Performance?

I am also on the fence concerning P85DX (or whatever it will be designated as). I am a SigS and now a SigX as well. For my SigS I picked the P85 at 4.2sec 0-60. That is PLENTY of pickup for me and everyone who has ridden in my vehicle. I have driven a P85D (only Insane mode) which is almost...

Is the X Finally Here? (

So far, I have only seen Sigs (X or S) getting invites... Got mine at 12:37pm PST/local time. Unforunately, getting from San Jose to Hawthorne Thursday evening is a bit tough so had to decline! I did suggest that they should have a Satelite feed, along with touchy-feely cars, at Fremont...

Need help from Pearl White owners!

jay-bay, I have the Pearl White and, of course, love it! But, having said that, I believe the new Steel Grey will "hide the dirt" just as well AND, may be better! I have gotten a couple (ok, exactly 3) chips from our great Bay area highways (I live in San Jose). I can notice each of the nicks...

    Competing technologies to BEV

This is a great thread with lots of science and logic, absolutely excellent. I'd like to suggest some other points that I, personally, felt were the most important for my decision and I believe will be for most folks. The day a "Big Auto" can meet these will be a tough day for Tesla I...

    Feedback on Hankook 21s?

Might as well way in on this thread as I now have Hankook 21's on my Sig MS. I replaced my Continental's at ~18000 miles because a)it was clearly time due to wear and b)one of the local hoodlums in the bay area has been tossing bent razor's into streets and I found on which caused a slow leak...

    a Real Head Turner

Glad MS's are still viewed as something new and cool out there. As pointed out by ken830, they are everywhere in the Bay area! I work in San Jose and the parking garage at work has grown from 1 MS (me) in November 2012 to >20 today! And there are only about 1000 people who work at this site...

    Model X Tally

Daily Commuting in a Model S

Ever since 2 Nov, 2012 when I received my Pearl White Sig Perf, it's been my commute (ok, everything) vehicle. Key things I've noticed: 1. I didn't know gas prices went up to $4.00 a gallon in San Jose until I saw it on the news! 2. It's amazing how quickly NOT thinking of getting gas on the...

    Requests for configuration help.

You've probably gotten more feedback than you ever wanted; but, as you can tell by those who have their Model S, we love to talk about them. So, I have a Sig Perf and have to admit that the performance is a DRUG! And, not a bad one, it is a reassurance that I will never have to worry about...

    Firmware 4.2

@contaygious, I noticed the same and verified that regen goes to minus 60w almost immediately if you are at reasonable speed and stays there longer as you slow down. 4.1 did not do that. Not sure about 4.0 or before.

    Tesla = Apollo Program

This is a very fun post and I completely agree with all points made...after >3000 miles on my MSPerf I couldn't feel happier that I made the investment. A couple points I would add... It's amazing how quickly I DON'T think about Gas Stations anymore. I also DON'T think about checking the OIL...

Bad UMC: Model S not charging

Another one for this thread. My Model S decided to not charge 2 nights ago...insert UMC and light stays WHITE. Tried 110 instead of my NEMA 14-50, nothing. Tried all the resetting suggested by 24-hour Tesla service! Gave up and went to bed expecting a call from Fremont Service Center at 9am...

Owners delivery stories, photos and first impressions

@yobigd20, As has been pointed out by others, it is very easy to smoothly accelerate; BUT,... It's REAL EASY to get carried away! My "passengers" (aka, everyone that rides with me on a regular basis) have indicated that they are getting motion sickness when I think I'm driving conservatively...

    Firmware 4.1 Issues

I have noticed a new Behaviour (not sure it's a bug or not)... Charged last night, all ok. Hopped into my Model S, backed out of the garage and out onto the street heading to work. Only then did I notice the image of my car with the little tiny arrow pointing to the Charge Port Cover...

    V4.1 (1.19.31) - What does it do?

Since the release notes for V4.1 appear to be identical to V4.0, I'd like to start a thread to find out what people are seeing as DIFFERENT from V4.0. And, if Tesla is listening, PLEASE post a list of bug fixes/changes From the previous release, ala most Linux SW app updates... What are we...

Official word from Tesla (GeorgeB) on the vanity mirror light and rear reading lights

Sig 692/Vin 00495 received my Model S on 11/2/2012..."same old original mirrors that people complained about..." Had my first visit to Menlo Park Service Center last week to get some of my punch list items addressed but Mirrors are still MIA! At least I have a "Model S" ensignia on my trunk...

Cubby under the touch screen - Size, delivery, etc.

Cubby is an item on punch list for any and all who don't have it according to Service Manager at Tesla, Menlo Park. They are a 2 minute retrofit. I had mine installed a week ago along with a few other punch list items (No Parcel Cover yet, grrr.). Note that it is ONLY a cubby and doesn't...

    Model S Software/Firmware Updates

Does anyone know what order or methodology is used when sending out the SW updates? My Model S is garaged in a "fringe" of ATT's cell towers such that I have ZERO 3G and very little Edge connectivity so I'm concerned that I will miss the notice. Is there a point where one can say "I should...

    Random Model S sightings

yet another sighting. Sorry, but I couldn't stop to take photo as I was already late for work! Black Model S at the bottom of Mount Hamilton Road in San Jose. Parked on the side of the road with the driver taking a photo of himself. Sorry I just got a glimpse as I drove by...it was obviously...
