“Summon” isn’t so “smart”

That's not what you said in your previous post "...Yes, I know the fine print says the car may not recognize curbs,..." So if it may not recognize curbs, maybe you should keep it in sight at all times (like the instructions say to do)

He wasn’t upset…and it’s sorta silly that it can’t recognize curbs (which are a pretty important facet of driving)

Well said. The car is not “supposed” to fail to see curbs.

They warn you the car may not see curb AND say you should keep it in sight at all times (so YOU can look out for curbs). Is this so hard to understand? So go ahead and complain when it hits a curb. Don't take responsibility.

I believe the cars that didn’t get the ultra sonic sensors don’t have the option yet. Don’t quote me on that, but I’m pretty sure

That sounds very possible. Mine does not have sensors and I recently had a 2021 loaner with sensors and it did have a Summon option on the display but it was locked out.

1. Your purpose was clear. Words have meanings and are easy to understand.
2. No, that's your words. Mine never said anything like that. The warning means to be careful because the car may hit curbs. Nobody said "should".

I’m not so sure you are understanding though.

I’ll be as clear as I possibly can.

The purpose of this post is two fold. First, I found it comical that the car did this, seeing as how there was no real damage and no one was hurt. I thought others might get a chuckle out of it as well.
Second, if anyone considers using the summon feature for the first time, they should be aware this could happen.

My intention was not to deeply trigger a fan boy, though it seems that may have been the result.

There re many less than ready for prime time features on my car but the Summon is the biggest joke of all. They really should just remove it as it’s a source of ridicule all over the place.

I rented FSD for a couple of months last year and never once bothered to try smart summon. Based on what I knew about it and first hand observation of how FSD worked I knew if I wanted to keep my car in one piece I'd better not try it.

I tried it. But the amount of time it took was ridiculous, I'll just walk to the car
