15mm vs 18mm adapters on 20" inductions

I'm making a set of adapters to run for an existing set of wheels I have. I am using the 20" inductions as a baseline since they are square. It looks like most people are running 18mm on the OEM inductions without rubbing? Does that sound correct? Or, is 15mm a safer bet? My car is slightly lower than a LR, but not as low as a performance.
