2016 tesla cpo and FSD

When I messaged Tesla about this vehicle: 2016 Model S | Tesla

The sales person told me that it does include full self driving...but it has HW2.
How is that possible? I thought you need hw3 in order to achieve FSD? Is there something i'm missing or confused about? Will tesla upgrade it to hw 3 after i purchase it in order for it to have FSD?

Yes. AP2 already has smart summon.

you can spend 2500 and upgrade the MCU to MCU2 and get the FSD hardware installed at the same time. Tesla is now making appointments for this upgrade. Considering the low price of the car, add 2500, and you have the latest computers also (infotainment with dash cam and also full self driving hardware)

I've been curious about this too when shopping...if you get an AP2 car with FSD, does the upgrade to HW3 get you working sentry mode? Or will you only ever have working sentry mode on AP2.5+ cars?

Scheduled delivery for my 2017 with HW2 and FSD was today but they told me they are upgrading me to HW3 BEFORE I pick the car up. New tentative delivery date is Wednesday. Surprised its going to take so long.....
