the 2017-2020 centre console is afaik only like... i think 200 USD or maybe 300 USD? So the next gen one cant be that expensive?

I like the 2020 console much more since I put on my satin white console wrap. Goes beautifully with the white seats.

You all wanting to retrofit the new center console may want to reconsider.

Daerik attempted to do this himself and bricked his Model Y. He needed the help of Tesla to get his car to work again with the new center console.

It's not possible to DIY install this because of the keycard reader that stores the keys (phone key as well). Might be possible if you find a way to remove the keycard reader from the old center console and install it in the new center console. But that means you'd have to take both the center consoles apart. And I don't know if they're even the exact same parts. Other option is to let Tesla do the install but ofcourse that will cost some more money.

Yes. They will sell it to you and you can replace the center console however you need to get the mobile service guy out there to reprogram the computer for you, otherwise your car will be bricked.
