I would prefer to go square, but I have an opportunity to pick up some RE-71s for cheap. The only issue is they are 255 in front and 285 in back. Has anyone run 285s in the back without alterations? I do not have any camber adjustment goodies yet. I'm assuming it will understeer, but it might be worth it to get off the Federal RS-RRs. Appreciate any input.

I have 285/30/20 on the rear of my SR+ with no issues. Wheels are 20x10.5 +45.
The +45 is the key
without a significant offset, the standard +35 won't let you fit a 285 tire.
It's also highly not recommended to run staggered tires in an AWD car like a Tesla, it will indeed heavily understeer
I highly highly doubt you can fit 285 on a +30 wheel. My wheel is +34 and I can maybe barely fit a 275.

285 is pretty wide for a 9.5” wheel unless you are specifically going for a beefier look. Also, factory Y tires are more like 28” tall, no? This is a <27” tire.
As to the original post, my previous 255s fit on a +14 offset with Performance brakes, so a 285 should fit on a +35 offset with regular brakes.
