50amp install

Still waiting for my December delivery of my MS.

Was thinking of mounting my 50amp outlet into the ceiling of my garage and mounting a shelf, below it, for the charger so it doesn't hang on the plug, causing it to pull out. Then coil and hang enough of the cable so it dangles about 1-2' below inlet on vehicle.

If I plan a road trip I'll just stand on a chair and pull the whole charger down.

Anyone see any issues with mounting outlet to ceiling (outlet facing the floor)?

A few others have done a similar installation with a ceiling mounted retracting cord reel ... just search the TMC forum for details

I think there is a minimum height above the floor in the electrical code. I dont think there is a maximum.

The Tesla Wall Charger can mount on the wall so no need for the shelf.

You went right past the "metering" box. Between your plug and the car - you can meter specificly how much the car draws? Can you tell me more what that box is, does, and should I get one?
