Had the infotainment upgrade done in late July . The car has no software or navigation data update since it left the service center. Still on software 2022.20.6 and navigation data 2021.44.13555. Anyone else in the same boat?

The car is always on a strong Wifi connection while parked.

Not being a novice, I very well know that. It's just that lots of other similar cars already have had the Nav Data updated within days after the MCU upgrade. Wondering if something is holding it up at the backend due to the upgrade.

Do you have your MCU upgraded? If so, how long did it take to get your Nav Data updated to NA-2022.28-14046? Now, that would be a helpful comment.

I updated my mid-2016 MS90D with MCU2 in mid-Dec 2021. You've had your car long enough to know that our different configs could mean what 'current' for my car might be different from yours. Here is my recent update experience in case it is of any help for you.
  • July 18, 2022: v11 2022.20.6 b7eaae9239d9
  • July 28, 2022: v11 2022.20.7 c32f861d7051
  • Aug 9, 2022: v11 2022.20.8 8f941dcd0ba7
I am on international assignment and have not physically been in my car since June 30th, so all of these updates have been installed remotely. I will say that over these last 3 updates I've had a LOT more problems with my MCU appearing to lock up and response to my data logger program showing weird data or becoming unresponsive to some commands. I've had to have my daughter visit my car and reset the MCU now 3 times since getting 2022.20.6 software. That's totally out of character from my experience since the first of this year where I had very stable behavior remotely accessing the car via the API (I'm typically away from my car for ~3 months at a time). I'd say if your car is behaving well since getting the MCU2 update and on 2022.20.6 then don't get too eager to get new updates. I'm not seeing great experience with these recent releases.

Regarding NAV data, I am on NA-2022.28-14046. I cannot tell you exactly when since end of June I've received that update. I do not know way to get notifications of NAV software updates or confirm via the API. I only know that I'm now on NA-2022.28-14046 by the fact I just had my daughter visit my car today at a time when she could do video call with me from inside the car and physically show me the software screen in the car.

@PCMc - Now that's excellent helpful feedback. Thank you!

our different configs could mean what 'current' for my car might be different from yours.

This is the key. And, you confirmed my hypothesis that there are numerous vehicle configurations serving as the basis for updates/upgrades/replacements, etc., even for the cars built within the same year.

This use case is very helpful. That's 6 months for the nav data.

BTW, I read your posts across different threads with lots of interest as I find them detailed and written with care and a helping attitude in mind. Thanks again for your thoughts 👍

@Droschke - just to be clear, the NAV data update sometime in the last month was not the first NAV data update which I received since upgrading from MCU1 to MCU2.

I had NAV dataset NA-2020.48-12628 when I did the MCU1 to MCU2 upgrade in Dec 2021.

Somewhere between end of Jan 2022 and end of Apr 2022 my car updated to NAV dataset NA-2021.44.13555. I have no idea when during that period my car updated (one of my 3 month stretches overseas, away from my car).

Thank you for your very generous comments about my posts. Providing helpful, factual, info to other owners is always my intent.

Thanks for further clarification.

Before the MCU2 upgrade in the late July, my MCU1 navigation data: NA-2020-48-12628.

During the MCU2 upgrade, the service center installed the NA-2021.44.13555 (which is my current version). I have no idea why they did not install the latest NA-2022.28-14046. So, I assumed the 2022 version would download after I took the car home and put it on my Wifi (as reported by many other owners). Nothing of course has happened and hence my curiosity to post.

@Droschke another data point for you

looks like I've been on that Nav version since around Dec 12, 2021 when I was previously on NA-2020.48-12628 (which was the Nav version I had after the service center did my MCU2 upgrade)

Thanks @f-stop - My current sw version is 2022.20.6 which was installed by the service center during the MCU2 upgrade. As long as there is no backend glitch caused by the MCU2 upgrade I'm in no hurry to get these updates. That's my only concern, but time will tell.

Update:

Been waiting too long after the MCU2 upgrade and the HV battery replacement SeC visit this summer with no sign of either the firmware or navigation data updates and becoming very suspicious of something might be wrong. Finally, I opened a support ticket. They tried to send two updates while on a call with them, but none was received by my car, which happens to be on a very strong WiFi connection. They confirmed something is wrong (confirming my suspicions) and opened a new ticket for a different team to do more troubleshooting.

I must add that the car used to always receive updates on the same WiFi connection while I was still on MCU1. Hoping they can resolve it remotely.
