Any scratch repair expertise?

In big trouble. Carelessly scratched my wife's "baby" backing it out of the garage. To add insult, it was the Weber grill that I carelessly left too far into the garage door area!
Anyway, now I have a fairly deep, but very thin scratch in the Model YLR red paint. See the pic.
Any suggestions on a reasonable repair. Not into repainting the entire car.

I ordered the "Dr Colorchip" in Red Multi-coat. My Son has used it with good results on his F-150 - medium grey. It takes a "learning curve" so I'm hoping we'll be able to successfully fill the scratch - might take a few tries. I'll post any results.
