Isn’t carbon fiber very rigid and susceptible to cracking? I’d be afraid to drive on the interstate with that hood.

It's fine. The cheap hoods usually delaminate or fail at the latch or hood strut mounts because they're not reinforced.

Question is somewhat like how long is a piece of string, and hard to generalize. Carbon fiber product properties depends on design and construction. That said, if you to lay carbon fiber (sold raw as prepeg sheets) to make a large planar product, it would be least rigid in the direction of flex.

The hood isnt a structural element anyway
