when you bought the car it was probably still in force so you may have signed up to it and they clearly have not updated their system to reflect that it no longer exists. The odd thing is though it was only £325 anyway and even if they wanted to pay it monthly its still only £341 so not sure where they are getting that number from anyway? They probably added an admin fee to add insult to injury. Thanks Guy's, that's exactly what I thought !
As @chr15toffer said if the car was delivered pre-Budget it would've been baked into the lease anyway, so might well be a refund instead.when you bought the car it was probably still in force so you may have signed up to it and they clearly have not updated their system to reflect that it no longer exists. Based on his avatar he has an M3. No M3 ever paid the additional rate unless there was a change of keeper prior to April this yearAre you sure it's a charge of £384 and not a refund? VED was baked into my Leaseplan agreement and I got £384 refunded at the end of last month as a result of the new exemption.
Sorry to spit hairs ( this is kind of my specialist subject sadly based on my work) but there isn't really such thing as the "luxury car tax" its real name is "VED Additional Rate" it is just one component of VED of which there are several. So its not really correct to say that EV's have never paid VED though this is the only component of VED that they did ever pay.As @chr15toffer said if the car was delivered pre-Budget it would've been baked into the lease anyway, so might well be a refund instead.
Need clarity on what it is really. As far as I know EVs have never paid VED (or have been zero rated for it anyway), but what changed this year was that they became exempted from the luxury car tax for years 2-5 for cars over £40k. This applied retrospectively.
The £384 might be an amortised calculation of the £325 tax plus interest for that year? Although @chr15toffer got refunded the same amount, so...
if people have got 3 year or longer leases I would assume that they should be getting a refund of (lease term - 1) x (£325 + interest) of those payments. I don't know why that refund wouldn't have happened immediately though? Why would they need to wait a year to process it? Unless there is a belief that the rules might change in future?
Sounds messy, or maybe I'm just making it messy!

Thanks @DaveW, hope they do (They should do really)SG Fleet haven't issued any refunds that I'm aware of, when it was first scrapped someone on one of the FB groups got in touch with them and they declined a refund
Thanks for the clarificationBased on his avatar he has an M3. No M3 ever paid the additional rate unless there was a change of keeper prior to April this year

it was payable from the second licence for 5 years which is not always years 2 - 5. If there is a change of keeper in the first year for example it would kick in from then.
Also just to clarify the change was applied to existing vehicles and new ones rather than "retrospectively" which would imply people who had already paid it got a refund which they did not ( though there were cunning ways to reclaim future months you had already paid in advance)
Thanks @DaveW, hope they do (They should do really)

Ah yes paying 20% tax on a payment 100% for tax gotta love that.At the time of purchase, the additional fee was £320/year, applicable from year 2 onwards. The refund is £320+VAT for year 2.
Hi, thank you all for your input; I have spoken to Arval and the amount in question is actually a credit not a debit; it just wasn’t clear on the invoice. At the time of purchase, the additional fee was £320/year, applicable from year 2 onwards. The refund is £320+VAT for year 2.
