AP autosteer activation

hey guys I’ve just got the regular auto pilot.....had it about a month. One thing I’ve noticed on the highway.....if I drop the right stalk once to engage cruise control...that works. But when I see the steering wheel icon on the left, and drop the right stalk a second time, it doesn’t always activate auto steer. Sometimes I need to drop the stalk a few times, then it activates.

Is this correct? are there factors being monitored that stop the auto steer from activating?

Auto steer, is click 2 times.
So click once for speed or click twice for steering.
If you have the speed control on, you still need to click 2 times

Yes understood, that’s what I’ve asked, the 2nd click doesn’t always engage.

I recently lost AutoSteer and have a SC appointment this week. Tried the 3 minute reset suggested on other threads, but this didn't work.

You have to double click it pretty fast. If that isnt consistently working, you may have an issue with your stalk.

Quite often I hit once to start cruise, then wait and start auto steer many seconds later. Could that be the issue?

Even if TACC is active you still need to click twice to activiate AS, not just a second click some time after TACC was enabled. Or two clicks without TACC already enabled also starts them both.

i thought the same thing but it appears once you are in cruise, you have to make sure you apply no steering input and double click the stalk , it engages everytime. If you have the slightest steering input it will not engage.

Does hardware 1 work for autosteer on 2016 model X? What version of upgrade will have it working?
