Are jack pads supposed to deform like this?

I purchased the Teslapuck jack pads on Amazon last year when I bought my car and haven’t tried using them until today. In my first picture the pad is unloaded. In my second picture I started putting load through the pad but this wasn’t enough to lift the wheel off the ground. The pad is already deformed and pressing into the outer black plastic cover. It’s deforming inboard as well and presumably putting load into the pack cover or whatever part of the assembly is there.

I saw in a video on YouTube at around 4:18 that his jack pads behave similarly, but I otherwise was unable to find this topic discussed. I used a similar product for a 2009 Nissan GT-R that I owned and I don’t remember them deforming at all but it‘s been 9 years since I last used something like this.

Is this normal or did I get a bad batch of jack pads?
