Are the side-mirror housings actually painted, or just colored plastic?

On the Model S, are the side-window housings actually painted to match the car (e.g. have an actual base coat, then clear coat, etc.) or are they simply shiny plastic that happens to closely match the finish of the painted metal work?

They are actually painted.

Painted. My wife put a minor chip on the outermost part while backing out of the garage. It's black plastic.
