Atari Games tutorial

Ok I’ll admit it. I’ve never played any of the games on V9 in my childhood so I’m utterly confused.

Also the Tesla controls make it even more confusing. It would be nice if someone released a video tutorial on how to play each of the games and the car controls for each.

I’m sure you’d get a good number of views.

I found the controls to be quite finicky, such as the ship in Asteroids would sometimes turn just fine, and other times I'd have to tap-tap-tap to turn. Also found the games awkward & uncomfortable to play (somebody younger may not have an issue here). They'd be much better with controller support (and yes, I tried a couple USB controllers).

Sitting in the driver or passenger seat turning slightly and lean forward is really uncomfortable. I am thinking in order to be more comfortable, one has to move the 2 front seats forward and stand in the back center. Use a downward dog position to play. *I have not attempted it, so try at your own peril.*

Maybe a future update would allow you to use your phone as a controller instead of the screen or scroll wheels?... I feel like some of the faster paced games would lead to me destroying the scroll wheel hahahaha.

I tweeted to Tesla that they should add controller support. They could even limit it to only controllers they sold in order to avoid dealing with all the different types of controllers out there.

I ran it in full-screen mode, and could never get out of it! It said "tap the screen" to exit full screen, I think? I could never get out, nor could I adjust the volume. This was in my garage at midnight right after the V9 update completed. I finally just had to get out of the car and lock it. What's the trick to getting OUT of full-screen mode?

I tried playing Asseroids and Missile Command with the steering wheel controls, and it kind of works, but that's a whole lot of extra clicking on those steering wheel buttons. Really need USB controller support!

to be fair, the original atari games were pretty darn hard as well. Centipede was controlled by a roller ball and a shoot button. I believe mission command was also a ball-based controller. I remember pinching my fingers on the edge where the ball rolls into the platform.

Yeah, Centipede and Missile Command were trackball-based games, where high speed action is required. It'll be hard to have smooth controls with anything other than a USB based trackball.

I was playing Lunar Lander using just the right side scroll wheel for several games on full screen. I've never played it before ever, and I was all into video games in the 80s. If your vertical speed at landing is anything over 12, you'll crash and burn.

Anyone know how to turn down the volume? It's way too loud in my X and can't turn it down it seems.
