I ust spent a week in a rental Nissan Maxima. The M3 crushes it in every way, except for implementation of blind spot warning.
The Maxima has LEDs near each mirror to indicate blind spot status, which I didn't find profoundly useful. But, when a vehicle was in or approaching the blind spot, and I signaled, the car emitted a pleasant (not jarring) chime.
I would much prefer this implementation to the M3's, which requires an actual lane change before an audible warning.
I know, I know, I know about looking down at the screen, checking mirrors, etc., but driver workload and risk would be reduced with this simple change, IMO.
Make the pre-turn chime optional and off by default, and everybody wins!
