Hi all, was just curious if anyone that has a black model 3 has noticed any issues with their paint throughout ownership. I've had my model 3 for about 6 months and have noticed a good amount of small surface scratches in sunlight. I figured it might be pretty common due to the color, but there seems to be a lot more tiny scratches than there should. Let me know your experiences/recommendations to prevent this!

We've also had a black Model 3 for about 6 months.
Incorrect washing methods can lead to surface scratches. We always use the "2 bucket method" when washing the car and would never take it through an automatic car wash.
An orbital polisher should handle small surface scratches with ease.

Swirl marks are common (especially on black) and related to poor washing habits. You can have the paint corrected by polishing and clay bar and then ceramic coat to protect. And as firebird8302 stated you MUST wash correctly.

Our 3 was covered in swirl marks when we took delivery. I’m not going to do a full on paint correction because it’s being wrapped this weekend.

I always two-bucket, hand-wash my black paint, and I still have light hairline scratches over the entire car a year later (only visible in direct sunlight). It's pretty much inevitable with black paint.
