Cabin Protection No Longer Works

I live in the Palm Springs area and my cabin protection is no longer functioning. Just went out to check the car and it’s at 131F. The cabin protection is turned on for A/C in the settings. I just recently got back from a short drive (yes, I checked the forum for other issues and not driving it isn’t one of them). My battery is not below 20%. Just got the 2020.24.6.1 firmware. But it wasn’t working prior to the firmware update either.

FYI: When trouble shooting anything (I was a tech specialist for 30 years), I always start with the easy stuff. So here goes: Since you made sure it's turned on AC then 2 things could be happening to cause the 105 AC protection to shut off. 1st, if the car was parked for more than 12 hrs it shuts off. This happened to me during Covid isolation. Or 2nd, if your battery is getting low (mine shuts off around 50 miles left).

I also can’t schedule a service appointment for the car in the app. Guess I’ll be driving to the Cathedral City service center to ask them.

I had my M3 at the service center yesterday to have my FSD 2.5 retrofitted to 3.0. Signs all over the front door say to stay in your car and go to www.... to let them know you've arrived. One sign especially said walk ups not permitted. So good luck with just showing up. My service center is a 45 min drive. They actually didn't have my appointment in their computer, so I offered to show it to them in the app. Therefore, they paid my Uber round trip and finished it by closing.

I’m at the Cathedral City service center now. After they asked to see the issue with the app not wanting to finish scheduling my appointment they were very helpful. They apologized for the app issue and got me scheduled for a service visit on Tuesday if they can’t diagnose it remotely.

Super happy with the folks here !!!

@Relayer1956 I’ll be curious to see what they find out. I have experienced issues with my COP not working. Reported it to service end of May when I noticed temps as high as 130F. Haven’t looked at it in the last few weeks but service remotely couldn’t tell me why. I had taken screen captures with my phone of it occurring and was able to give them times of when I could see it, and they did say they were able to observe one of the spikes. I had a mobile appt for my AC filters and condenser cleaning in early June but the COP issue wasn’t something mobile could look at, I would need to bring into service. They said it could be an intermittent sensor issue but needed to see it in the shop. With covid it makes it difficult to get the car up to them so figured when it went in for my HW3 upgrade I’d have it checked out then.

FWIW the battery level and whether cabin overheat protection was turned on were the first things I double checked when I saw the app’s temp reading, and did so again when service asked. And yes, I drove the car each morning so it had recently been driven. Been a Tesla driver for a few years now and haven’t had this issue in some time and don’t think with this car (our MS when COP first rolled out). Did have several software updates but still experienced it. Service also had me do a two wheel shutdown and when that didn’t resolve had me do a power cycle shutdown. No change. Haven’t had many 90-100F days recently to make me think about it. I have the Tesla sunscreen and use a Heatshield on my windshield with the car parked in our driveway with no shade.

As of a few weeks ago the car has been on 2020.20.12.

Mine definitely still doesn’t work. I’ve been checking over the last couple days, got up over 130 degrees.
I was just in Las Vegas, temps 115 degrees and my A/C stop working. I did the 2 button steer wheel reset and that kicked in the A/C again, I also noticed that the A/C does not like the LO setting, it would shut down after a while, so setting it to 60 or 62 degrees worked well.

Did you try resetting it?

People actually use the LO setting - nuts. That doesn't help cool the car faster despite what some people think. Even 60F is low.

Again today, I suspect it’s a bug in the new software but I have a SC visit scheduled Friday and will have them check it out to at least bring it to their attention. It’s a safety issue really in this heat.
