Thanks DrTaras. You are spot on. The $8.46 was a bit sarcastic (just moved the decimal point over), but when you think about it, that's about what it should cost. The value of the car that it happens to be velcro'd to doesn't make it higher quality or cost more to produce and/or reproduce. Tesla has made about 1000 Roadsters. I think if someone were to contract with a plastics company to make 1000 of those things, they'd probably cost around $8.46 each. The Roadster is an exciting vehicle, and Tesla is the only company with the balls to actually make something like it, but every little part in the whole car just seems to scream "cheap". Now that I finally own one, I can totally see why DrTaras has given his Roadster a complete makeover.
